I have been really at a sort of stand still for a while. I am making a new standard for myself from now on. I didn't sign up for a quick fix! I signed up for a hard yet rewarding road and having your stomach cut from your body is no joke! So why am I treating it as such. Today I have been reflecting and I need to be proud of myself to continue to grow. 100 lbs ago I beat myself up and it didn't get me anywhere so why would that work now. So I am proud of my journey... And the journey has just begun. The road is long... One year feels long but it's no where near the end! No more feeling guilty!

Hi everyone! I just love this supportive group of people. Anyway, I am now 1 year post op and down 140 pounds with another 50 to go and I'm at a 4 week stall. I'm eating about 1100 calories a day and exercising 6 days a week. What can I do to shake off the plateau? Should I eat less calories? I'm scared I'll go into starvation mode and not lose anything that way. Should I just sit back and relax and wait for the plateau to pass? Advice anyone?

Over the last six weeks it was hard for me to determine what the signs and symptom of my dumping syndrome are. I did realize when I over ate my pouch, I would get sick and vomit. I was unable to able to define what I was feeling when I ate/drank sweets for example. I was able to drink a venti Starbucks drink without issue. I didn't realize the shaking and feeling of low blood sugar over the next hour or so was my body reacting in a negative way to the sugars in the drink. I also just felt sick and I thought I just needed to eat something to equalize out my low blood sugar. I would also shake like I was freezing. Not so. It's hard to believe it took me 6 weeks that …

Just weighed myself and I am 199 with a starting weight of 287. My lap band surgery was completed on January 15, 2014. I feel (and look-/LOL) amazing! I have energy and am accomplishing so many great things in my life. The lap band gave me a new lease on life. I'm loving ONE-derland. By the way I haven't even officially started exercising yet. Just moderate walking and so forth. I'm so proud. I'm 5'11 and 199 now so slowly getting out of that overweight stage lol

Every time I hop into my bed, or cross my legs, or bend down, curl up, stand up, etc, etc, etc, I am reminded how as we get larger, we compensate in how we move. I know I didn't realize for a very long time, the changes I made as I got heavier and heavier but I am hyper aware how much easier it is now to engage in any type of movement. Everything we do is different because it's easier the smaller one gets. It's so wonderful that I hope the feeling never goes away. Right now I'm constantly reminded of my weight loss because of this and I don't ever want it to become something I take for granted.

I will be 6 months out next week. My 16yr old daughter and I were at a friends daughters little play at her school the other night. By the way it was sooooo cute. Anyway my friends mom was there also and had brought her aunt with her. We were leaving the play and my friends mom said to me "My aunt wants to know if that is your sister or your daughter??" I just laughed and said "Thank you, I love you, and you might need to have your eyes checked!!" LOL My daughter immediately said "don't let that go to your head!" (she has been hearing how much we look alike since she was born.) It really made me smile. Now I know at almost 47yrs old we truly don't lo…

As the title says, I can't believe how much better I feel. I've always been over weight. My highest weight was 267, at 24 years old. I was I'm a abusive relationship because I didn't feel I deserved better. After a lot of tears and pain, I got the strength to walk away and do something good for myself. For my 25th birthday, I gave myself the best birthday present yet, my surgery. On August 20th, 2014, my life changed for the better.

So my surgery was January 20th. Things have been going great until a couple of days ago. Now all the sudden with any food at all there is a pain in my gut. It comes and goes. Feels like a rock that's stuck and just keeps rolling in the same general area. This doesn't make me happy

Hi all it's been a while since I stopped by...to remind you about me I have type 2 diabetes, on an insulin pump. I needed to lose 85 lbs to be at my goal. I've lost 43 lbs and the last weight loss I did have was in November. I need some help. I don't think I'm eating the right foods. I feel like I eat the same 4-5 foods everyday. lunch meat, cheese stick, yogurt Protein bar and Protein shakes.... Not to mention how expensive the Protein Bars and protein power is. I feel lost....I want to lose this other 42 lbs. I don't even know how to get on track or what I should be eating, or how much. It's like everything that I learned in my prep classes, doesn't seem to fit …

Had my sleeve April 2. Going for first post op tomorrow. Hoping to get off the blended food. I'm helping to plan our 50th class reunion this year. That's not the reason but the inspiration. I weighed 251 day after sleeve. Today 237. Working. Having to push the water though.

Hello all Its been a year and 1 month since I had the lab band surgery, although I haven't reached my goal yet , I feel some what satisfied. Before surgery , I never expected to reach my goal within a year, I have given myself 2 years instead anyway. I have lost an average of 64 pounds, my goal is to lose another 60-55 pounds and I will be much happier. I will be honest, I havent' hit the gym once, and I can't give up my occasional glass of wine. Yes and on occasions also I will eat a piece of, chocolate, cake, pizza, Ice cream, fries. The thing, is that I believe having something you like occasionally is ok, the bad thing is eating these type foods everyday. I don…

I've never been happier or healthier. Recently, I wrote down the changes I made and was surprised at how many there were. Before I made my list, I would have said I hadn't made many. My guiding food principle is that I have a limited amount of space so whatever I put in that space has to count nutritionally. So here's my list: 1. I can eat anything, except bubbles, of course. No fear. 2. If I want a cookie, I can have a cookie but no boxes or bags. I have to go buy a good one, just one. 3. As a rule, I stay away from all types of Pasta, even the "good" kind. I can have it, I just prefer not to. 4. I avoid bread unless it's fabulous or unavoidable. I have a sandwich wi…

Hi all, I am a recent sleeve surgery person (Mar 30) whose short term goal/dream was to reach ONEDERLAND. I hit a 4 day stall at 200 that didn't have me concerned at all because I know at this point the weight has nowhere to go but down. Well, I am happy to report I hit 199 this morning when I weighed. Did everyone hear my cheer and the "whooooop whooooop" across the land? I haven't seen the 100's in a long long time and couldn't be more pleased. Now, on to the next short term goal which doesn't have a weight attached to it....possibly a level of health to achieve, a size clothes to reach, ability to do a physical activity........to be determined. At this point I…

After much waiting...and much heat from my sleever homies...I'm posting my before and after pics!!! I hit my goal weight back in August, and haven't had any significant gain whatsoever...swearing that I'm never going back to 'Heavy B' again!!

I am working so hard to try to lose 100lbs by my 6 month check up that while I was talking with my mom yesterday I realized that from my heaviest weight I have ever seen on a scale (329) which was probably about 3 months before my supervised 6 month diet I am DOWN 101lbs!!! This made me pretty happy, I am still plugging along and doing good but it's so funny how something just hits you! I really love this Ah-Ha moments. Also at work yesterday I went into the break room for lunch and put my stuff down on a table and went to sit down. I noticed that where I was there was a chair with arms instead of one with no arms. Normally I would of switched the chairs around, b…

I went on a long weekend to Las Vegas with a girl friend for a "girls get away" this past weekend. Had lots of fun. She knew I had the surgery and has been a great supporter. As our time went on, I realized how different it would have been if we did this a year ago, pre-VSG. I would have waited behind for her to go run around instead of walking 8+ miles a day. I would have been planning our Breakfast, lunch, dinner, food treats, etc. instead of oops...we didn't get lunch. I would have been planning at least one nap if I wanted to stay up late, instead of going 36 hours w/o sleep the first day. After that about 4 hours a night. I would have felt out of place a…

Hello! I was sleeved 12/26 so I'm almost 3 months out although it feels like forever ago. I was scrolling through some old pictures and found one from 2.5 years ago... Probably close to the heaviest I've been. I started the process in June of last year at 369lbs. The day of surgery I was 330 and today I am 281. I'm not sure the last time I saw that weight but I am in total amazement that I am under 300! Heres the before and after for reference.

Today is my 6 month anniversary. My goal was 100, missed it by 10 lbs. I've fallen off my schedule a handful of times but with the sleeve I'm able to recover. I've adopted the mindset that holidays and family functions I will eat what is there just much smaller portions. Otherwise normal days of the week I follow a clean diet. I've had some breakdowns in relation to working out. I'm hoping to minimize loose skin by lifting weights. I'm in a constant battle of should I do more cardio or more lifting today? Weight loss has slowed since I've started a set lifting routine. I'm hoping to amp up my cardio and increase my fat loss but its difficult at times to get in g…

Hi! So, I had the sleeve procedure on November 5, 2014. I am happy to say that I am just 10 pounds short of my goal of 215 (which was my weight after Coast Guard boot camp 29 years ago). I started at 306 and was 299 on the day of surgery. I am thrilled with how things have gone so far. I followed my doctor's instructions 100% and all has gone pretty well. The only thing I am having an issue with is the re-shaping of my body. When I was at my best weight as an adult (I call it Coast Guard weight right after High school) I wore 36/34 jeans. I was lighter than I am right now by 10 pounds. At one point during my Coast Guard career, I lost all the way down to 185 but stil…

I was sleeved 10/6/14. As of this morning I have lost 113 lbs. started at 322 the week before surgery to 209 this morning. It is work. Get up 6 of 7 days of the week at 4am to get cardio in. To celebrate family went Las Vegas for Spring Break. Actually lost a lbs over the week. I was not especially good on the diet either. Just had to have red bull and vodka while playing at craps table. Wow, first time drinking after surgery. Hits quick but I think red bull had more effect then vodka it seemed like. Anyway, just had to post the 6 month success.

Today was my 6 week follow up from having my sleeve and it went very well.I am down more weight also my NSV I am down a shirt size and two pant sizes.Best of all is now I can have some(soft) food, instead of puree foods. I am very happy to have found this site,it has helped me learn more about my sleeve and read that other people struggled as I have.I want to thank all that has shared your stories and want to wish everyone luck on their weight loss journey.

Hey guys! It's been about 8 months since my sleeve and I'm down 96 pounds from my pre-sleeve weight. The food is still a struggle sometimes, but thankfully the sleeve is a great tool at keeping me in-line. I love to eat and breaking the habit of wanting to gorge on something tasty is tough! Anyways, I've just bought my first bicycle since my youth and as my first hard exercise since the sleeve, I rode almost 15 miles yesterday. I felt like such a boss and it was so much fun! I have some pretty major lower back issues, and running (or any other "bouncy" activity) makes my looseness bounce too which is very uncomfortable and unsightly, so cycling seemed like the perf…

I had often told myself during my journey that even if I were to ever possibly hit goal I would never post a success story. Maybe I was being modest or perhaps just really hard on myself or…just not able to forgive myself for ever letting my weight get out of control as it had. I guess a lot of it no matter how you sum it up is really just embarrassment. Well I had a change of heart. That change of heart came because I can remember so vividly the feeling of the hopelessness and despair. At times I felt I was knocking on deaths door and that there was nothing I could do about it. So I am writing this tonight in hopes that if I can help just one person even if only on…

GOAL! Finally! I woke up this morning and I was 129.4 and my goal was to see 129 on the scale, so 129.8 would have worked for me. I hit 130 back in January and I floated between 131-134 for the last three months. A week ago today I had my final plastics surgery, which was a posterior lower body lift, inner thigh lift, and auto butt augmentation. The day of surgery I was 133 and I’ve pretty much had no desire to eat anything while being on drugs for a few days and being back in the compression garments (which I swear squish my stomach to the point I can’t eat without barfing). So between whatever skin was removed and whatever weight I lost from not eating terribly muc…

70lbs down in 6 months. My weight loss has been a slow one, consistent but slow. Even though I'm not where I want to be yet I have to remember how far I've come. At 6 months out the weight loss has slowed down tremendously, but my success thus far keeps me going. No matter how long it takes, I will get to goal!

I started my journey at 268 lbs and today I am 170 lbs. my survey was 9/11/14. It has been awesome. My energy level. My ability to just move. Yesterday I went to Old navy and tried on a size 12 pair of jeans and they were to big. I am happy to say. I walked out with the size 10. I have never been able to fit a size 10. My next NSV will be running the Susan Koman 5k here in Philadelphia this Mother's Day. I thank God everyday for giving me the courage to decide to have this surgery.

My husband, 16 yr old daughter and my mom flew from Tucson to California to go to Disneyland over my daughters spring break, we just got home yesterday. This morning I get up and get on the scale to find I am down 2lbs and loving life. When we booked this vacation I was only two months post op and wondering how I would handle the challenges I might face being away from my routine and home. Well at 5 months and two weeks out I was fine, absolutely fine. A few NSV's I celebrated along the way, (1.) I fit in the airplane seat NO extender needed, no oozing onto the person next to me (2.) was able to use my own tray table, laid down flat and didn't rest on my belly at…

Throughout the process I have been very much encouraged by the before and after photos of other members of BP. However I was reluctant to post any of mine until I was what I considered successful and reached my goal weight. Then I seemed to never remember to take a pic. Well, I just got back from a fantastic ski vacation made possible due to my sleeve, alot of fellow Bariatric Pal support and a year of rigorous effort. So here are some of my before and after pics.

My daughter was just going thru her phone and came across some photos that were taken on the day of my surgery on October 27, 2014. So I put it together with a pic that was taken last week on vacation. Whoa!! You really see the hard work when you see a side by side comparison in photos. LOL I'm working hard to hit the 100lb loss mark by my 6 month surgiversary!! Wish me luck!! P.S. I finally got a pic to post the correct way, not sure what I did different though. LOL HAHAHA
