  2. I need any and all advise. I am 9 months post op. I lost 35 pounds and then nothing! I haven't changed my eating habits and even with fills I've stopped losing weight. I walk approximately 10,000 steps a day. No carbs. Has any one else experienced this? If so what should I do to boost my weight loss again? I was thinking to only do protein shakes for a couple days but not sure.

I was a self-pay patient so I didn't get to have any follow-up labs done after my sleeve procedure. I had a nutrition panel and a CBC done about a year ago where everything was fine, but last week I had my primary care doctor run a full panel of lab tests- CBC, thyroid, Vitamins, glucose, everything we could think of. I've never had issues with any results before the sleeve, but I eat a lot differently now than I did then and I was a little concerned that something may be off either nutritionally or with my thyroid. I received my full results today and everything is perfect. Almost all of my values are right in the middle of where they should be and they are all withi…

I am almost at goal weight, though I feel, few lbs left are just skin, and I am where I should be. Though I expected the excess skin, it still makes me kinda sad. This is at my back, there is more on my stomach.

So I'm 5 days post op and feeling ok, a bit sore around incisions a really bad wind pain but other than that I'm not bad. I'm struggling to stick to the liquid diet and have had a few puréed/ sloppy foods, only small bits to test the waters and they seem to have gone down fine, I only have 2 small mouthfuls then I'm full but will I have done any damage? The thought of looking at another Soup or shake fills me with dread. Anyone else had similar problems? Do you think I'd be ok to continue?

  8. hello! I'm 9 months post sleeve and have lost almost 80 lbs, and very happy with my progress, but my weight loss has all but halted the last month or two. My doctor said that after the first 6 months this happens, but I am didn't think it would slow down THIS MUCH! I have not started exercising or anything like that, I know that would help, just wondering if other people are going through this and/or what advice you have to offer regarding it! THANK YOU

Hello all, so a funny thing happened this morning. Last weekend i purchased some new shorts for the warmer weather. Well im now in a men's Large so i grabbed some, and bought them. However i made the mistake of just looking at the hanger not the tag on the shorts. so one pair i bought was the wrong size. Now this morning I picked up the shorts, not knowing they were the wrong size and i remarked to my wife how surprised i was at how small these shorts looked in my hands. So i ripped the tags off and then realized the tag inside said XL not L. so i said to my wife, "oh I bought the wrong size dang it." so she picks up the tags i ripped off and said, "yea you really got it…

  10. Hey ladies and gents! I'm going to be a self paying VSG patient hopefully no later than summer '16, the date keeps getting pushed back because life and stuff. Every time it gets pushed back I keep doubting myself and second guessing my desire to get the VSG. It's one of those "Have I really tried.. I mean really tried", "What if it still doesn't help?", "Why do I even think it would work for me!?" kind of thing. That last question led me back to the wonderful people of this forum and my question for y'all is [if you haven't guessed it already] why do you feel the VSG was a success for you? Was it simply because it didn't allow you to eat so much? Was it because you can no…

So I was three months out on 1st June - and I feel really really good. I have a thread somewhere here going through my experience, and the first few posts were pretty hard going because I found the first two weeks really hard. The whole experience with the liquid and puree and mushy diet was awful to be honest. But right now I feel great. I've lost 65lbs in those three months (down from 292lbs to 227lbs) - I look good in a suit, all my old shirts fit again, I can tie my airplane seatbelt without a problem, I can walk home from the train station after work without being exhausted when I get in the door. I go to the gym a few times a week. I've lost ten inches aroun…

Hi guys, So I'm 2 days post op and to say I'm a little sore is an understatement, it's not just that my abdomen aches every time I move, it's this unbelievable gas pain that just won't budge, I feel like it's taking over my whole body and when I feel in my chest that I need burp I try to bring it up but it just doesn't come! I'm so bloated it's unreal, I've tried drinking gripe Water which helps move it along but it just doesn't come out! Walking also helps move it around but still nothing comes out! I'm so uncomfortable. Also nobody told me before surgery that I would have to inject myself! Wth! Luckily my partner doesn't mind because there is no way I could do t…

Hi all. I am a 38 yo woman. I am 5'6" HW398, SW 358, CW 202. I think being a size 10 (with my skin roll) is 100% success. My surgeon on the other hand does not. She won't let me have skin removal surgery till I am <200. <200 not 202 not 201, 199 or lower. I set a personal goal of a pant size not a weight because I didn't want to fail myself and I am past it. I wanted to be a 13 yet here I am in a size med waist cincher and 10 jeans that fall off my waist and hug my pelvic bone due to skin. Grrrr

In November 2013, before I had surgery, I posted this: "Today was rough. I had to travel to DC for work - three *full* trains each way, crammed in like cattle (on two of them, standing room only and the escalators were broken almost everywhere). My boss is a runner so i spent most of the day trailing a few yards behind like some yappy little dog. Plus, since I don't normally have to dress up, I had to buy something appropriate. It's my own hangup, I know, but I always swore I wouldn't ever cross the line and buy elastic waist pants. Last night, I had to cave and buy elastic waist pants because nothing else fit right. I doctored up the outfit and felt about as cute…

That's what my bariatric surgeon said this morning after looking at my esophogram. When I asked her about how thin my esophagus was per a comment made by the technician, she laughed and said that they're not used to seeing a normal esophagus. Most of the time because of band tightness, the esophagus swells. Because I am fortunate enough to have no Fluid in the band, mine is normal. I also showed the doctor my 'golf ball' and she said that needed to be revised for sure. So after the summer, I get a port revision to a lower profile version and she will tuck it under the muscle. I will be happy to have it gone. I tried on a dress yesterday and couldn't buy it because…

So I've got 2 days till my surgery and have failed on the pre op diet completely, I was told to do a 1000cal diet for 2 weeks consisting of 2 shakes, then a high Protein low carb dinner. Over the past 14 days I would estimate I've done about 6 days total where I have stuck to it. I vowed that the last 3 days I would stick to a liquid diet, but have sabotaged myself yet again by going to a social situation! I'm so angry with myself! Why can't I do this?! I done it 6 weeks ago perfectly fine but then my surgery was postponed, I don't want friday to come around and they turn me away because I haven't shrunk my liver enough. I have no idea what to do now, do I try again…

  21. I just want to preface this by saying that getting the surgery was probably the best decision of my life. A briefish summary of my story: I was lean as a kid and a teenager. I was highly active and on many days I would play basketball for 3-4 hours after school. Then, I went off to college. As a teenager, I ate a ton of food just to keep the weight on. I could eat ~5,000 kcals a day and my weight wouldn't budge. I had a 6-pack and could dunk a basketball on a good day, which isn't easy when you're 5' 10". When I got to college, I started partying a bit (others certainly partied a lot more, but I'm not going to say it didn't affect me). I also stopped playing basketbal…

Hey everyone!! I am a newbie here...but just wanted to share that I went to my one month post op appt. today and I have lost exactly 25 pounds! I was shocked! 10lbs were before surgery and a total of 15lbs since band surgery. I have not yet been filled, I will have my first fill on June 15th. I'm thinking 25lbs is pretty good but just want some input from you guys....I know a lot of it had to be water and sodium retention b/c I was a Diet Dr. Pepper addict! Like 6 a day! I gave them up cold turkey and have been drinking only water and unsweet tea from time to time. Thanks for you input and I am excited I found this great forum!

  27. I'm so incredibly excited for this Sunday! I just graduated law school last week and have my graduation party this Sunday. Only two of my friends have seen me since I had the surgery (and they're the same 2/4 who know I had the surgery), but they saw me at the beginning of April when I'd lost only 30 pounds. I've lost another 30 since then! None of my other friends and non-immediate family have seen me. I was a size 18/20 in August. I'm now a size 10 across the board. Not to mention a former co-worker I've had a MASSIVE crush on for the last two years is going to see me SIXTY POUNDS lighter than the last time we grabbed drinks. I've been making short term goals t…

  29. A friend who had sleeve surgery told me to celebrate non-scale victories, so I am DELIGHTED that at seven weeks post-op, I am down two shoe sizes. I went from a 11WW to a 11M. This is especially thrilling, because I LOVE HIGH HEELS. I had to stop wearing them because my weight got to be too much to stay on heels longer than about 30 minutes and there are not many choices for heels with extra wide feet. My dream is to buy a pair of Christian Louboutin shoes since they only come in medium widths. Since they are so expensive, I will wait until I reach my weight loss goal to buy them. I am glad that I am refocusing how I reward myself and not using food as incentives.

So I am on my fourth day of my preop diet and have gone from eating 2,000+ calories a day to around 500. I am really craving something I can chew right now that is savory. So I have been looking at what I call "food porn" on pinterest. It's tempting but strangle empowering and satisfying looking at the gorgeous food and saying "no" right now. Anyone do the same thing? How did you cope with preop cravings?

  37. I was sleeved on 12/16/14, and as of my weigh-in today, I am down 90 pounds! As a restaurant owner, my biggest fear before the surgery was how the weight loss would affect my personality and image. While I am thrilled with the quick results, and I have been VERY able to handle the big changes in lifestyle, I must admit that unfortunately my "work joy" has lessened. I'm a restaurant owner, and been in the business my whole life. I love food, the food business, talking about food, etc. Since my eating is so restricted, and I don't get much joy from it any more, I have been feeling less and less enthusiastic about serving and selling food. It's such a disappointment. The…

  38. So Ive been hanging around 207 for a while and my goal is 180. My Drs office says to start going to plastic surgeons to get a good idea of what I want. My first consultation is set for next month, but I would like to gather as much insight on what I'm getting into as possible. You can look at before and after pics day after day but I would love to hear some helpful hints from people who have experienced this. My husband prefers me being a bit "thick" and fears that if I get to 180 then have the surgery and loose 20-30 more pounds that I would look gaunt. I greatly appreciate it!!

Today I went to the mall, which I tend to not do very often because it is SO much easier to just order things online, however I don't fit into some of my size 4's and 6's any more and I needed at least one new pair of dress pants and a new pair of jeans. So, I went into banana Republic, where a size 2 petite was just a smidge loose on me (YAY!). Then I went into Express, where I could really do some damage to my credit card, and the size 2 dress pants I have been ogling online actually fit perfectly (DOUBLE YAY!). Sadly enough I couldn't find a dress jacket because my arms and shoulders fit into the 2, except the button wouldn't close until I tried on the 8, which was …

I decided when I started this journey in May 2015 that I wanted to live. I wanted to physically live to see grandchildren, but I also wanted to fully engage in life. I have been doing that pretty well for 60 years but I didn't want to decay bit by bit as I saw family members age with health issues. So I had surgery in late September. Part of the process was going to be a trip to Europe with my just graduated college child.
