Hi guys,

So I'm 2 days post op and to say I'm a little sore is an understatement, it's not just that my abdomen aches every time I move, it's this unbelievable gas pain that just won't budge, I feel like it's taking over my whole body and when I feel in my chest that I need burp I try to bring it up but it just doesn't come! I'm so bloated it's unreal, I've tried drinking gripe Water which helps move it along but it just doesn't come out!

Walking also helps move it around but still nothing comes out! I'm so uncomfortable.

Also nobody told me before surgery that I would have to inject myself! Wth! Luckily my partner doesn't mind because there is no way I could do that myself, the thought alone makes me feel queasy.

The calories I've consumed in the last 2 days amount to 3 cup o Soups and 3 ice poles which I'm sure isn't enough to keep me going, so my questions are,

How do I help relieve this gas pain?

What else can I eat/drink to help me consume a few more calories?

Thanks guys ????

Walk walk and walk some more. It will also help with your soreness. That right stitch pain will last about 3 weeks. Get your Protein in! Super important!

use a heating pad on your shoulder pain. liquid Tylenol helped me. I did not have to inject myself. I had that done in the hospital but I stayed overnight also.

Sorry to hear you're in such discomfort.

I was one who basically had no discomfort from the surgical gas. My nurses had me walking a LOT. Maybe that helped me. I also had some good pain meds

What are you injecting yourself for/with? I never had to do that.

Why do you think you need to consume MORE calories 2 days post op? What is your post op "diet" consist of? I did a week of Clear liquids post op.....after the week of Clear Liquids pre op.

I hope you get to feeling better and just remember, this is temporary.

Best wishes!

Gas rises. If you get you butt higher than your head, it should help expel some of the gas. I don't know if that is possible with recent surgery. Also a massage therapist can help work out the gas.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
