I'm down 27 lbs and am no longer obese! Just overweight. I haven't been overweight in about 8 years - I've tried for years with diets and extensive running and nothing seemed to work. I am so grateful for this sleeve. Normal weight here I come for you!!!!

I do not post here much but I am a frequent lurker and reader. I was sleeved on September 12, 2014. So I am a little over six months out. I am down 105 pounds. I am 15 pounds way from my goal of 215. I am pretty comfortable with my eating plan. I cheat occasionally but not often. My activity level has increased significantly over the last several months. I am hoping to reach my goal by June. Here are a couple of before and after pics.

11 months months out & I've lost over 100 lbs. Throughout the time I've noticed I can sometimes eat more than usual & by that I don't mean over eating. It simply takes more to get me full than other times. This varies from day to day & I don't understand why... One day I can eat a cup of veggie soup, the next I can barely get a cup down. I'm not complaining just bad for when I want to measure all my meals. I've heard several ppl mention this after weight loss surgery but I don't know if they all have a day to day, & even within the same day, reaction. What causes this? Is this normal? Who has this same concern besides me?

Four months post-op sleeve and today I dropped into the 150's! 159.8 to be exact, but I haven't seen the 150's since 2005. I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to have this surgery last year. It is life changing in so many ways.

Here is a little nsv I had recently. Hope its not to personal. I was in a scooter vs car accident on March 10th so I am recovering from a pelvis fracture. A couple days ago I was given the go ahead to be able to go to bathroom alone. If you have never been there you have no idea how exciting that is.I am sitting on the toilet and finished my business when I realized I have always been a reach through wiper, arms to short or butt too big. Due to limitations on how I can move there was no way I could. I set and pondered this for a bit. I didn't want to call for help. I finally decided I was going to try reaching around and what do you know my arms must have gained at least …

I'm almost 3 months out (12/30/14). Today, I got on the scale and I am officially UNDER 200 pounds!!! I can't remember the last time I've seen under 200. I started the process at 257, my BMI was 41. I am more than HALFWAY to my goal!! Up to this point, I have tried really hard sticking to the foods suggested by my surgeon. I am trying to keep each meal around 200 calories with minimal snacking. I'm drinking 64 ounces of Water each day. I would still like to improve on increasing my Protein. I'm getting about 50-60g/day. I would also like to improve my exercise. I was in the gym 4x/week. But I've been slacking on that and I need to get back in there. Just …

I had my RNY on 10/7/14 and have lost 86 lbs!!! I am super excited about that and I feel so much better. I have hit a wall though and have not lost anything in almost a month. I try to eat right and I work out 3-4 times a week. I don't know if I am adding muscle which is why I hit a wall, my thyroid could be low again, or am I messing up somewhere. Any one else go through this?

Good day! I haven't been here for awhile. Today marks six months since I had Gastric Sleeve Surgery. I've lost close to 80pounds and still loosing! From 237 to 159! The loosing has slowed down though. I go to the gym at least 4-5 times a week. Always hungry, but a little bite here and there gets me satisfied. This is the best thing I've ever decided to do...I feel great, all my lab test are great, and look good too! I'm not afraid to go out of my house anymore...I enjoy being with people...more outgoing! Good luck to those that are about to have surgery and to those in the coming months. Congrats to those had surgery...you should feel as great as I!

Hi everyone, I lurk on this site once in a while, but I have not posted much. I was wondering if anyone out there decided to have skin removal surgery after his or her weight loss. Why or why not? If you did have the surgery ... did your insurance cover it? was it painful? what was the recuperation time for you? Thanks :-).

Has anyone had a hip replacement or hip resurfacing? I was banded in 2007 and had good success, but I have put half the weight back on and started to have bad hip pain. Now I am told that most of my cartilage is no longer there, and I am in pain when walking and moving. and I know I need to get the weight off again, I went for an adjustment in Feb and am starting to do ok. I was just wondering if I am not along.

http://www.bariatricpal.com/videos/view-10-goal/ I just added my goal video to the gallery. I don't know why but I'm a bit emotional about posting it. I have never posted a video of something so personal ever. Feeling pretty exposed and vulnerable.

i can't believe how dis-proportionate i am right now. really badly. i am wearing size XL shirts, and bought some elastic waist capri pants last weekend size medium. they fit pretty well, but i still have this stupid belly roll taking up space. trying to really increase my activity and get my cals down by 100 a day (currently at 1000 daily). nothing really severe or stupid, just going back to some basic things to get that scale moving again, and try to decrease the 'roll' to a 'small muffin'! lol...btw, was a size 2x pants last year, and easily 2x shirt was pretty snug.

Last night was the Annual Chili Cookoff fund raiser for our local animal shelter. I've helped organize it for the last 4 years, (ironically I am in charge of the dessert auction). So this morning I got to thinking what a difference a couple years and WLS has made for me when it comes to this event. It's interesting how things have evolved. Two years ago I was just in the beginning stage of thinking of having WLS. I hadn't even decided what kind yet. Last year I was 3 months VSG post op and still not quite feeling "normal". And this year I'm below goal, well into maintenance and enjoying life. Here's what I consumed each of those years.... 2013 Tasted 8 chills, h…

Hi Everyone VSG done in November 2012--followed by a total hip replacement that Spring. My chronic hip pain is due to congenital hip dysplasia (second surgery for the other hip yet to be scheduled). I am only 49! Ugh. Initially lost about 60 lbs after my WLS, but have since gained 8# since this past Fall and loooooong, cold, snowy winter here in Boston. I put myself back on track for the past week after dragging out the scale (did not get on this thing all winter long out of fear and presumed weight gain) I've reinsituted a Protein drink or two a day, along with more fluids, more sleep, and omitting all simple carbs. I mean, who was I kidding right? You can"t eat…

So I'm about 4.5 wks post op and still going through the healing process and the pureed food stage but I'm noticing big differences already. I've had 2 major "aha" moments that remind me that hey, my body is in fact changing, bc sometimes my mind forgets. The first was in the supermarket. I was checking out and had to get to the credit card machine but the cart was in the way. I stepped to the side of cart and pushed it besides me while in the aisle. Usually I have to get out of the aisle, then pull the cart out of the way and then finally step back into the aisle. Did that all make sense? I was completely amazed and smiled like an idiot when I realized what had just …

Hello all, I had my first consult today and I must say I love my doctor already (Dr. Medvetz of LMA in south Jersey)! She was really nice, extremely honest and knowledgeable! We spoke about my age (30), goal weight, diabetes, pcos, and plans to have children! With all things considered she recommends the sleeve with BPD-DS. Most likely my surgery won't be until June but I was just wondering if anyone had this type of WLS and if so you are happy with the results? Any struggles specific to the BPD-DS?

Well this morning I finally made it to goal! It took me exactly 7 1/2 months to get here and I'm totally thrilled with the entire journey! For those wondering how it happened so quickly, I can only say that I followed all the rules meticulously: 80-100 grams of Protein, no starches/sugars, some veggies, no booze/soda, and 64-120 ounces of Water every...single...day, plus daily walking and once a week workouts. I always had a plan for what I was going to eat, even at parties and restaurants, and if I deviated from the plan, it was always protein-based, like cheese, nuts and beef/turkey Jerky. So... going in, was I worried about missing out on food? Yes. Did I feel de…

So I know a lot of people Celebrate every little NSV and to an extent, I do too. BUT! Today I think I have my biggest NSV yet. As of this morning, I have lost enough weight that I would no longer qualify for VSG since I had no co-morbities. To me, that is huge! Would love to hear some of the NSVs you considered major. Keep up the good work everybody!

Just wondering how my fellow May 2014 sleevers are doing. We're almost at a year. How many pounds are you down? Are you sticking to your diet? Still losing? Are you being active? What has changed the most for you since surgery? How are you feeling? Like a new person or still coming to terms with your new self? I'm doing well. Still losing, slowly now. I'm down to a weight I can be happy with but I am going to the gym to tone up some areas. I have the underarm jiggle and my butt is really squishy. lol. I'm not too strict with my diet anymore. I can only eat a little at at time. MOST of the time I make good Protein packed choices, but sometimes I eat junk.…

I know its a little early to get too excited, but as of yesterday I finally hit ONEderland!! 198.6! That is also just about the half way point for my weight loss journey, about 60 lbs to go. Whew! Feels like it took forever to get here!! so excited!! Now, if I could just stop my hair from falling out, everything would be perfect!! LOL

In the back of my mind I wanted to be under 150...at least 149.9 in my six month anniversary. I make it the morning of my six month anniversary I weigh 149.5. I thanked God he helped me through this. I am Ecstatic! It works. I love My sleeve!

Surgery date 7/2/14, HW 282, SW 265, today 199! Progress has been slower than many of you but steady. I'm totally thrilled but my family and friends don't get it, so I'm thankful for this forum. Random list of things I can do now that I couldn't do before: - get on an airplane without worrying about the seatbelt or angry co-passengers - park in a tight space and still get out of my car - jump - dance in public - know that I can stop eating when I'm full Looking for comments to help me Celebrate since I can't celebrate with food!

Hi Everyone, Yesterday I hit 100 lbs lost, my surgery date was June 11th, so that makes it 100 lbs in 9 months. This morning I weighed myself again convinced I would have bounced up a pound (I have been stalled for nearly three weeks, so understandably suspicious :-D). But to my delight I had crossed over the fabled "One-derland", 199 lbs. I say fabled because it seemed like something that happens to other folks, I just wasn't sure it would happen for me. I guess you can say this is how I have felt through this whole process. Probably nearly 30 years of weight loss failures affecting my attitude! But somehow I lived through the presurgery liquid diet, the immediate post …

My surgery was July 31, 2014 and I wondered how I would feel when I hit the 100 lb. mark. This morning I hit 101.3 lbs. lost and I feel great! I know there is much more to do but today I am going to Celebrate. If I could give my pre-surgery self advice, I would say, "Don't worry about how fast other people lose. Stick with the plan, learn how to live your new life, respect the sleeve and it will all work out!" Let's see if I can follow my own advice for the next 107.7! Hope your journey is going well and you, too, are feeling great!

I got on the scale this morning and it read 199.0! I think it has been 18 years since I weighed below 200 lbs. I went shopping last week and I was able to buy XL tops and size 16 pants! That is down from 3X tops and 24 pants. I am so excited I can hardly stand it. I am 52 years old. I was sleeved on November 4, 2015 (15 weeks ago). My recovery from this surgery was very easy and I am thankful every day that I had this procedure done. I now LIKE leaving the house to go places and I hope to have a job interview in the next week or so (telephone interview last Friday). I even took a picture of me in my new interview clothes and sent it to my daughter and I wou…

I am 47 pounds down, as of this morning. I don't feel like I've been a rapid loser compared to others here; a bit on the slow side, actually. But most of my clothes, pants in particular, are becoming alarmingly saggy. If it wasn't for the hard work of some dedicated belts, I'd be routinely flashing the general public. No one wants that. All of which is leading up to the news that today, I am wearing a pair of jeans I haven't worn since... I don't even know when. Many, many years. They fit well, and are even a tiny bit loose. Amazing. I don't feel like I'm a "new person" yet, but I look at photos of my face on surgery day compared to 6-weeks post-surgery, and I a…

I was sleeved on September 12. I cannot believe it has been six months already. Well, things continue to go well. I started out at 335. As of this morning I am at 231.2 for a total loss of 103.8. 17 pounds to go to reach my goal if 215. My losses have slowed significantly over the last couple of months. I am still steadily losing, though. I hope to reach my goal by May 23 which is the day we leave for a vacation in Costa Rica. I think I have a shot to do it. My life has changed significantly since my surgery. My day no longer revolves around where and what I am going to eat. I plan my meals and usually stick with the plan. I average around 1100 calories a day. I do ex…

I was banded 10/8/14. I lost between 10 and 15 pounds in the first few weeks from the presurgery diet and the initial post-surgery liquid diet. Then nothing, For weeks and weeks. I got my first fill at five weeks, experienced a huge reduction in what I could eat, and still, no movement. I went over a month without losing any scale weight. My clothes were getting looser, but not drastically. Not a single person noticed or commented that I had lost weight. Finally, this week, 8 weeks out from surgery, the scale is slowly and steadily creeping down. I'm down 20 pounds as of today. Here are some things I have learned: 1. Losing weight with a lap band can be a very…

Woo Hoo!! I got an email invite to a work reunion on the 26th. I've seen a number of these folks since I left the company in 2007 so many of them have seen me both larger and smaller. But for those who I haven't seen in a while...oh boy!!! I can't wait to walk into that bar and soak up the compliments. I know I've said in the past that I don't care to be scrutinized even if it's positive but I'm not looking to show these folks up...they were all very kind to me no matter what my size. I just want to share my success with them and I can't wait till the get together. What a change up from getting invites to things and the first thing I think about is 'can I get there …

I'm getting the sleeve sometime in late February and was wondering how everyone does with lettuce/leaf spinach for salads? I've been reading mixed reviews. I'm an on/off low carber so I typically use full fat Caeser dressing and am looking to stock up (there's a really good sale right now) but I'm unsure if that's the dressing I should get or if I should use light post-op? Any help is appreciated!!

Well it's been a long, fun, hard road. I have to say during my weight loss stage it was exciting to see the scale go down every single day. I was one of the lucky ones who did not encounter any stalls. God only gives us what we can handle.....I beleive He knew I wasn't strong enough for that. I have been blessed not to lose my hair. The only rough road I had was the first two weeks post op and taking my medications in liquid form. I have to say honestly I would love to keep losing it was that exciting. Now my road begins to learn how to maintain. I am scared to death of gaining anything back although my NUT tells me that a 5pound plus or minus loss or gain is norm…

Hi all. I am 3 months out from sleeve and down 43 lbs. I have two problems. One is that I am in a stall for almost 3 weeks. The second is that since Christmas, I am a little more hungry than I should be. I still can only fit about 4oz or so in but I get hungry quicker. Greek yogurt doesnt satisfy me. I seem to need more solid food to feel full. I'm thinking I'm not getting enough Protein. Should I eat more chicken? Also, Does anyone know how fast you can stretch your stoma? I know a few times I didn't chew well enough and I paid for it.

Everyone that's not seen me for a while say I look amazing. However, this belly of mine seems to not want to go away. I am 2 years out GVS with a one year old. Motivation to exercise along with maintaining healthy eating habits have not been on my agenda for the past several months. I've got to get back on track.

I've not posted since i was in the very early stages, but thought I'd post a before and after. My surgery was Oct. 21, 2014 and I weighed 247. I've currently lost 80 pounds putting me at 167lbs. It's been much slower this past month, and it's been depressing me a little...I'm so afraid I've lost all I'm going to. I hope not!! Anyway, ta-dah!

So today i weighed in at 265 pounds which now measure my lost weight at 97 pounds and gives me 95 to go. I have officially past the halfway mark, the tipping point, over the hump! To those awaiting surgery, or struggling those few days or so after post op, take it from me, the feeling is....indescribable. Every day we rewrite the pages n the book of our lives and make them better for us and those who love us. To be honest when i first started along this journey I repeatedly said if I could just get below 300 pounds it would be a huge success for me and I would be happy. But when you follow your plan and things o right, the outcome is well just great, and heck im not afr…

So I just wanted to give a 25 day update to help people like myself who almost backed out of surgery. I am feeling pretty good and I am only on the soft food stage of my post op diet. I eat brocolli cheese Soup & yogurt daily along with powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken soup Protein. I have lost 35lbs. as of today and have dropped from a 54" waist to a 48" waist already. I am a big muscular guy so my weight was 384 at surgery and today 349 and already getting compliments. The 1st picture was the final straw that made me look into gastric sleeve & the 2nd pictur…

Well, it took almost 50 pounds post-op and almost 75 pounds total, but I just got my first comment from a coworker on my weight loss. Someone who just got back from a two week vacation just commented told me "you're melting" and said that my pants might end up on the floor while I'm walking down the hallway soon. I wonder if being away for a couple of weeks and then coming back caused her to see me with fresh eyes for the first time in a while. My weight loss has been pretty slow and gradual (1 to 1.5 pounds most weeks), so I don't think the people that see me every day have really noticed. I have started running in the past 4 weeks and she was gone for 2 of those, so m…

I've owned my company for a long time now. I've been in the same industry for 16 years. I go to peoples homes everyday and usually I visit with them around 4 to 6 times a year. I own a service company. In the last month I've been going to see customers that I have not seen since my surgery and some of them have been my customers for more than 10 years... they keep walking up to me to shake my hand and then say they were expecting me but they see that I sent someone different etc. Then I speak and they have a double take. These people I have worked for for years do not recognize me because I've lost so much weight. It's a great feeling and it tells me that it was…

Hi Guys, I am due my op in less then 2 weeks and the time seems to be coming up fast!!! I already regard the op date (14th March 2015) as my new birthday... the date my new life will start. Along with the main changes that come along with the surgery I am anxious to make this new start a healthy and happy one. Does anyone have any tips to ensure I start my life in the best way possible, I don't want to fall into old/bad habits and so I'd love to hear from people who have managed to create a new and healthy structure to their new lives. one of my worries is healthy choices for my 6 meals a day, especially whilst at work or out and about where I don't have the same op…

So I'm 4 months post sleeve surgery and down 40lbs. My unsupportive husband decided he wasn't in love with me and we are in the process of divorcing. The divorce was no surprise. Unfortunately he didn't want the marriage or work for it like I tried. Anyway I'm looking forward to dating later this year and meeting new people. I'm 30 yo. But food and alcohol are often part of the dating process. Luckily I never was much of a drinker. I can only imagine going out and eating 4 bites and being full. How do you deal with this? What about the scars? When do you tell your sleeve story? I'm excited but scared of dating. Any advice from fellow sleevers is appreciated.
