Do people still recognize you?

Recommended Posts

I've owned my company for a long time now. I've been in the same industry for 16 years. I go to peoples homes everyday and usually I visit with them around 4 to 6 times a year. I own a service company. In the last month I've been going to see customers that I have not seen since my surgery and some of them have been my customers for more than 10 years... they keep walking up to me to shake my hand and then say they were expecting me but they see that I sent someone different etc. Then I speak and they have a double take. These people I have worked for for years do not recognize me because I've lost so much weight.

It's a great feeling and it tells me that it was all worth it. At least 10 customers I've seen since my surgery have had the sleeve done or are scheduled to have it done. One lady told me the same thing that I had said as my reason for doing it... health. She wanted to feel good again. She told me I was living proof it could be done.

My see my doctor once a week and he can't believe how well I've done. Every week I go down 1 to 5 lbs. Sometimes its just 1 or 2, other times its up to 5 lbs and once it was 9 lbs in a week.

Anyone else experience this?

I often receive comments at work like,"You are a completely different person!" and "I didn't know that was you!" And yes, it makes me feel good. But a part of me thinks that they shouldn't get it twisted, I'm still me & they'd better recognize :)

I'm 31 and getting carded again. The only down side with my youthful looks is my new customers don't believe me when I tell them I've been doing this for 16 years. They don't think I'm old enough. I've had people tell me I'm completely different and the only thing different about me is yes the weight is gone, I have more energy, I exercise daily now, I don't eat a lot and I haven't had soda since the surgery.

Yep! I went to a concernt where I knew a bunch of old friends that I hadn't seen in a long time would be. Two of them did not recognize me at all! It was a surreal, but fun, experience!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
