Surgery tomorrow! Terrified!

So my surgery is tomorrow and the nerves are really kicking in. I did two weeks pre op diet and managed to lose 11lbs I don't know if that's good or bad but I guess everyone's different.

I'm so excited yet so scared about what's in store tomorrow and forever after!! I feel so prepared yet totally and completely un prepared!!! Any last minute advice on stuff to take to hospital? I am staying over night. And anything I need for when I get home that would help me?! I would really appreciate it thank you! X

  • I took nothing. I was out 3 hours after surgery. Just a toothbrush and maybe some mouthwash might be all? RE: The fear? Here's a post I copied two years ago and it really fit me and many others

  • Thankyou the support on here is amazing! It's so lovely especially as I'm only telling my immediate family it's not something many people are knowledgeable on in every day life so it's so nice to kno

Wow!! Mashed potatoes! I have been dreaming of food all night. Isn't that crazy? My MD here wants 7-10 days post op of clear liquids. I am sick of Gatorade and Powerade. Chicken broth seems so salty. True hunger has set in. Next week I can go to cream based soups and the week after that I can have mushy food. So it will be about a month before I can have fork and knife food. As far as weight, I gained some initially (maybe fluid retention?) but now I am back down to where I was prior to surgery. Wishing you continued good luck. Let me know how it goes with the food intake this week!

I had my surgery 4/3/14 and didn't have any pain at all. Came home the same day with no problems whatsoever. I did take the next day off work but that was more to recover from anesthesia than anything else. It's been the best decision of my life. I'm down 47 pounds and I feel wonderful. It's natural to be nervous but you'll do fine!

Hope it went well. I found there was nothing to be nervous about! Good luck !
