:smile2: Hello, I'm hungry as h#ll! But there's more to this than that. Got my surgery July,3,2009. I have the realize band and I realize that I'm in for some changes. YAY! My surgeon was Dr. Duperior. I don't know exactly what to expect.. My incision still hurts but not as bad. Thank god! I have been hooked on Crystal light fruit punch to get through. Maybe I'll need rehab since i am so dependent on it...LOL:thumbup:

Hello! I've been lurking for about 2 years. Finally decided to join in. I had surgery 6/2/08 in Decatur, AL. I started out at 315 lbs. and now I'm at 234 lbs. Seem to be stalled at the moment. I think I need to be jumpstarted, mentally. I figured this is the best place to start. I've really enjoyed reading all of your posts. Everybody gives so much support and I think that's what I need. I'm 39 yrs. old, married and have two wonderful special needs daughters. Trying to get healthy for them so their mom can be around to take care of them for a long time. :smile2:

I'm back. I joined in 2006 and chickened out. I have decided to give it another try. I think things are going to go fast so I won't have an opportunity to change my mind this time. :smile2: I attended a seminar last night and I emailed my insurance company today and it appears that the surgery is covered. I am waiting to have my consultation and begin my pre-op preparation. Wish me luck.

Hi everyone! As the header says, I'm a graduating undergrad, soon to be graduate student, in New Orleans. I'm exactly a week away from going to the required informational session at Oschner, where hopefully, I'll have my surgery performed at the end of summer. I'm interested in talking to new people, especially college students, and getting some insight into how you're dealing with school, a social life, and the band. I'm so glad I found this forum. Can't wait to hear from you! --C182:smile2:

Hi, I had surgery last week 6/30 and I am still on full liquids and hungry. How did you guys stay on just liquids for so long? I looked at the paperwork and think I can switch to pureed foods on Sunday. I can't wait. This is hard. Seems like I get hungrier every day. I usually have carnation instant Breakfast in the morning and then 1 cup of Soup for lunch and 1 cup of soup for dinner. Sometimes in between meals I have a SF popsicle or Jello. Is there something I am missing that I could have to "fill up"? Thanks

I have done everything else, meetings, nutritionists, psychologist, life coach counseling, etc etc. The final thing holding me back is losing the 10%. I think if I could do that on my own, I wouldn't need the surgery . Well, I just wanted to say hi and let you all know that I am browsing around all the posts. LOL.

Know I will have lots of questions, concerns and ignorance about this all, but also know I can find the answers here and from other reliable sources. Looking forward to getting to know some other former fatties. Happy summer!

  9. Hi, My name is Lacey. I have been considering surgery since 04. I lost 45 pounds on my own then gained 70 since. I had a baby in 07, Anna, and another little girl in December of 08. I lost the pregnancy weight with my first but not with my second. I gained 20 pounds that won't come off! I registered with my lil sis in Chicago in March for a marathon. I was ready to really attempt to kick butt. I worked out maybe twice. I woke up one day and my knees hurt sooo bad. I went to the doctor and got a run around. I know that I am really overweight but the pain was sudden and hurt I wasn't making it up because I didn't want to lose weight. I felt like no one believed me.... I was…

The thought has been in the back of my mind for about a year, but for the past couple months I’ve become serious about it and have started reading books and doing the research, which is how I discovered this forum. :frown:Hi all out there! I'm just hoping some of you might have some words of hope for me. I was banded in Mexico on June 5, 2009 by Dr. Huacuz. I almost shied out of it the night before I flew down there, but a friend coaxed me to go. My experience at Dr. Huacuz's clinic was good, but when I got home and off the morphine which made me almost giddy, and finally removed my bandages, I saw the road map of horrible scars all over my once smooth abdomen. I wanted to fall to the floor and ball. It's been a month and even though I've been relentless about applying polysporen and scar creams, I'm positive these scars will show loudly for the rest of my life. I'm SO depres…

I'm so disappointed! I just found out that my insurance company doesn't cover bariatric surgeries. I'm crushed. My husband sent me this when I sent him the email: He's so sweet! Now I must go the self-pay route. As he said, "what were you saving that money for, anyway?" Good point. But I suppose at the very least this means that I could probably get this done sooner rather than later, since the insurance company might have required some ridiculous "hoops" through which I would have had to jump. Oh well. Onward! Don't let it deter me!

I'm really considering having the surgery but having some insurance hold backs and was thinking about going to Mexico for it, of course to save some money, but am a little nervous about going there just in case something happens.
