  3. Hey all.. got another question. I was seen by psychology last Tuesday and have not heard back yet on if I was cleared or not. This is the last requirement I'm waiting on before submitting to insurance. So today was a week and a day since my eval. How long did it take for you guys to hear back from psych? Should I call the office to check on the status? I don't want to call and sound pushy, but I was really hoping they would submit to insurance this week.

  4. I just can't wait until next week to go to orientation. So tell me what's involved and how long will it take to have the surgery done. How many classes are required to attend? What type of test(s) will take place? I'm sorry, but I am really excited and anxious to know and looking forward to a life style change.

Hi everyone hope everyone's good I finished my 9th week of classes yesterday and I have 3 more weeks left with KAISER options I've lost 40 pounds so far I have definitely hit my 10% mark that goal was 29 pounds. I am going to be calling today for my appointment for medical clearance and then hopefully within the next couple weeks I'll be meeting with the surgeon and get my surgery date getting so excited.

Hi everyone, so my doctor recommended a 10% loss before surgery in February, I fortunately had loss 10 lbs since December, but I've been stuck for the past 2.5 weeks with no weight loss, last time I weighted myself I was 277.8 but for the past few days I've been in the 280s. I have been exercising, following the diet and logging my food into an apt which tells me I'm having about an average of 1500 calorie deficit, but still no budge. I first though it was just water weight, but it's been a couple of days and I'm starting to feel very disheartened and emotional. Any help, tips will be appreciated it!

I used to say I was 5'3" when a nurse asked. (Because it kept me in the 34 Bmi range and I didn't feel so fat.) When I actually get measured by a nurse, I'm either 5'2" or 5 '2 1/2". Now I want to be shorter so I can have a higher Bmi, so insurance will cover surgery. It matters now, because it affects my bmi history. At 5'2", I have the 2 year history, but if I use 5' 2 1/2, it's 34.9. I have records that say all 3 Heights. Any chance the surgeon would measure me, and be able to recalculate the bmi from 2 years ago? If so, I can start now. If not, I have to wait till the end of October. Anyone else have similar issues with their records?

I can't sleep because I'm so excited, and now starting to get a bit nervous. My main fear is the IV since it will be about 12 hours since I was last able to have any fluids. I know it's much easier to get IVs in when you're hydrated. Also nervous about pain and nausea when I wake up. As long as I keep my mind off of these things, I'm so excited about finally getting this done! Does it hurt when you first start walking after surgery? My surgery is today at 12:30pm. Yeah!!!

I'm terrified I'm not going to reach this goal in 2 weeks and I wanted to know how much people lost if they just did the liquid diet with no cheating. Thanks [emoji4][emoji120][emoji1373]

So I finally finished all my pre op and got insurance approval and was about to pick a date for the end of April. Then I ended up in the hospital for blood clots in my arm, and learned I have an abnormal issue where my first rib is cutting off blood flow to my arm. I've had three procedures now to remove the blood clots and have one more surgery scheduled to remove my first rib. I'm happy that my condition can be fixed, but frustrated that my wls has to be put on hold for 3 to 4 months while I'm on blood thinners after I finally finished my pre op and mentally was prepared to have my wls this month. Hopefully I can stay on track and keep lossing on my own. I've lost a de…

Today I had my surgeon appointment at my new Hospital, he explained to me that with my insurance I have a prerequisite of 6 months supervised diet. THEN my doctor asked if I had seen my PCP last month, I told him I've seen my PCP monthly since January and he told me that those months of seeing my PCP count as weigh-it's for the 6 month requirement, now I only have to do 3 months of a Pre-Op Weightloss group. He suggested I attend one this month so that by June, for our next appointment (June 13th), he can schedule me for surgery. It is definitely nerve wrecking because I believed I had 6 months to prepare myself. Although, I am excited. I also did my blood work today in …

I have to lose 20 lbs in the next several months (already down 15 since January but half of that was before fist weigh in. ) I have my class scheduled, sleep study and psychologist appointment s all scheduled already. I was nervous about my EGD but it was a breeze. I had never been to this hospital so that's why I was nervous but all the nurses were very nice. I have a tattoo of the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland on my chest, one of the nurses bonded with me over it and right before I got knocked out from the anesthesia she quoted Alice in Wonderland. I can't remember exactly what she said but I remember it put a big smile on my face. She was so kind. Really made me feel better about having my surgery at the same facility. Come on April 19th! I'm so ready for you!

I went a few weeks ago for my insurance required endoscopy. The doctor found some inflammation in my esophagus & did a biopsy. Got the call today that it was just due to reflux (I have never had my issues with heartburn until 3 days before the procedure, go figure [emoji849]). I have to be on acid reducers for 90 days. Will this effect getting approved for surgery? My insurance required 3 months of visits and my last appointment is on May 18th. So now I'm worried that I'll have to be on the medicine for 90 days before I can even submit my paperwork to insurance.

Last night I had my first anxiety dream about the surgery. It was that I was concerned about the staples becoming unstapled. Hopefully this is the last "nightmare" about that. Anyone else having weird dreams? Not that it's important, but it's making me curious how many others may be internalizing their fears. I've not been afraid at all since making this choice, so the dream was odd.

  38. Hey, so this is my 1st time posting to a WLS forum. I am currently working through the process for gastric bypass surgery, and have my 2nd meeting with my surgeon this Friday. I do not have a surgery date, but we should be setting it, or narrowing down the window when I see him. My best guess would be that I'm 30-45 out depending on how long my insurance takes for approval. I am currently trying to get everything ready for the post op weeks now so I'm ahead of the game. I've got some questions for those of you who have gone through it My plan was to recover sitting/laying on my couch since I figured my bed would be hard to get out of, but after talking with PCP …

  39. My surgery date is almost here! Most people are excited, some nervous, others both. Me well I'm not sure what I am right now. I have had 4 major surgeries in the last two years with lengthy hospital stays. I think being sleeved should be easier as it has been a conscious decision to have this procedure and one I wanted. However I am rethinking things as it seems more people are writing about the severe surgical pain, gas pains that wont go away, the inability to even drink water, or eat and heartburn that becomes a permanent part of everyday life. If anyone can give me some good insight it would be greatly appreciated and helpful

  41. Hi everyone -- I'm considering bypass surgery -- I've got an appointment with a surgeon for May 10. I'm paying out of pocket, so I don't have any insurance requirements to fulfill. But I'm trying to get my head around it, and really have a good feel for what is in store for me. Thanks for indulging, and please tell me what you can. I'm about ... I don't know, somewhere between 120 and 150 pounds overweight. My BMI is about 47. I'm 50 and have been overweight my whole life -- I've lost 100 pounds three separate times, I've lost 50 six more and I don't even count 30 as significant anymore. 10 years ago I lost 125 and managed to keep 40 of that off, so I've never …

I was talking to a co-worker today about their experience with weight loss, since having a ByPass. They said that you have no control over how much weight you lose, Your body just loses it ... so if you don't have more than 100 lbs to lose, it could be dangerous to have a by pass. I have never heard that before. Is this true? My hubby wants to lose 100 lbs. will he be able to stabilize the weight loss at that point? Thank you for your input?

Recently my insurance (BCBS NC) has changed the requirements to include a 12 month diet prior to seeking surgery , but the office I chose informed me they've submitted a patients info recently to the same insurance company without the actual diet but with a lot of documentation and it has been approved so I have my fingers crossed!!
