Any clue as to how to dress for the weather in TJ in March? Is it cold? Mild? Warm? I'm an Ohioan so March is an unstable month temperature wise. But as a Ohioan I have a thick skin. I'm on a 1st name basis with Alberta Clipper. I know Lake Effect and Nor'Easter. So when it's winter and it hits the 50's and 60's doors and windows are open. Car windows down with exception to rain. Tshirts and jeans. Amanda Rae

I'm having surgery March 8. I haven't requested time off work YET. I work in a small law firm about 7-8 people. All gossip-ers... Very opinionated group of people, not the most pleasant to say the least. I want to request the time off but don't want to disclose the exact procedure I am having. Any ideas? Thoughts? Anyone else have this issue? Help Please!!

Tonight has been a horrible evening!! Giving me all the more reason to be anxious and ready for surgery 2 months from today!! I was at a friends house for her birthday, I was already feeling out of place bc I was drinking soup instead of eating what everyone else was but I made a small plate for my toddler and went to sit down in one of the chairs with her to feed her when bam! The chair broke!! Thank god I didn't drop my daughter!! They kept saying the chair was already broken and they had wood glued it back together two days ago and forgot when they brought it in. Either way I was and still am embarrassed, hurt and angry! I'm so sick of being a fat ass!! I was so upset …

I don't think I have been this anxious/nervous/excited/terrified since my wedding. I fly out one week from today to San Diego. And my sleeve will be created on Saturday. The pre-op diet is going... well, it's going. MyFitnessPal keeps scolding me for not getting enough calories in each day! LOL Anyone else just a week away? I am so full of mixed emotions I cannot even articulate it! I tend to write novels when I make posts or blog... so I apologize in advance if I inundate this board with my observations and experiences. Then again... I may be too out of it to type LOL who knows. One week. Amazing. It feels like just yesterday was November 11 when I decid…

I'm 24 days away from my surgery date and emailed a question to my MTC coordinator last week. Generally, she's been very good about getting back to me quickly, but I still haven't heard from her. I'm getting worried. I tried her phone, but there was no answer, so I left a voicemail. Should I be concerned??? I haven't seen her name on the forum as being coordinator to any other MTC patients.

I wish there was a website or application that told me when and what to eat like on a timer and told you exactly what to but at the beginning of the week so that you didn't need to remember all the food rules

Hi! I am new to the forums. My sister and I are in the process of gathering information from various reputable surgeons in Tijuana, including many discussed at this website. I've read that even with an experienced sleeve surgeon, serious complication rates are generally around 3%. But so far the *highest* rate any clinic has admitted is .05%. Should I be overly concerned about this disparity? Or is there something magical in Tijuana's water? Thanks in advance!

Well, my car broke down on me and it's going to cost about $1,300 to fix it. I applied for a loan but I don't think that I'm going to get it without a consigner. I was scheduled to have surgery in March, but may have to rethink this entire process if the money doesn't come through. Does anyone know of a surgeon that does in house financing? Or maybe put down half the money and finance the rest?

My daughter tried out for softball today, and did so well the coach recruited her on the spot. I still can't believe my surgery is done. I get to the hospital almost 11am and they start working on me right away. My lab work, my height, my weight, chest ex ray. Then we take a minute to meet the Dr on the floor and get some medical history and tell me what to expect. Omar (the coordinator) was right when he said they have done so many surgeries. He was their to meet me when I got to the hospital and helped fill out the paperwork. I ended up upgrading to hospital Florence that is very nice. Well after I saw the cardiologist and got my EKG and some more medical history I meet Dr Illan (that is very young by the way) I didn't have that many questions for him but he was…

I bought a single serving blender to liven up my preop intake. I found my favorite Protein shake combo. MRM low carb chocolate protein mix. Almond Breeze Unsweetened Almond Coconut milk. It tastes like an Almond Joy. How much ice should I add? Should I reduce the almond milk and add some vanilla Greek yogurt? Has anyone mastered smoothie making? Amanda Rae

Hi. After being denied by my insurance company (Health Choice) because I'm not diabetic, I've decided to self-pay and have my sleeve surgery in Tijuana with Dr. Garcia on March 18th. It's kind of like a roller coaster ride. One minute I'm excited, the next I'm nervous. One minute I'm confident with my decision, the next I'm ready to back out. My biggest concern is about complications and aftercare upon returning to Oklahoma. I live in the southeastern part of the state - about 2 hours from Oklahoma City and 2 hours from Tulsa. Maybe 3 hours from Dallas. Could anyone recommend a doctor for aftercare? Has anyone found a doctor who will take patients who've had their sur…

I know a lot of self payers are financially strapped and at their wits end looking for a solution. And, while you can't put a price tag on health there are a lot of things to consider on the affordability of this surgery. Some programs may include these costs, but just a few things to consider: Actual out of pocket - are there additional drug costs (I know mine is about 140 in prescriptions) Cost of Protein supplements post-op (likely offset by price of grocery savings in early program, but not always) Monthly Vitamins post op average 30-40 a month Identification (passports/I'd cards) Airfare Tipping for shuttle drivers in Mexico, etc (minor, but neede to point o…

I am on the 2 week Pre Diet and doing 2 shakes and 1 meal a day. Honestly I am doing better than I thought I would. My only real cheat is that my dinner is low carb but not a salad. I am mostly meat and cheese. I already feel a little better!! I found an oatmeal that has helped and i can also eat Post during mushy stage. It has been a lifesaver from just shakes. 100 cal 14g protein 1g fat and 8 carbs. Profast apple and cinnamon the taste is pretty good. What products have others found we should know about.

Now that I've made my deposit, secured my plane tickets, applied for my passport, and started my preop diet... I'm freaking out. I'm trying to talk myself down but I'm feeling overwhelmed. I'm scared. I have sleep apnea, which I've disclosed, but I'm terrified it won't be handled properly. That I will suffocate under the anesthesia. That they will forget to put my cpap on me in recovery. That I will die or have brain damage. The anxiety is keeping me awake at night. I am so overwhelmed. Amanda Rae

I am having surgery on Monday 1/21. I've gained the weight back that I lost! I had serious challenges and slipped but tried to eat healthy. I don't know what to do. I called the Nut at OCC and she said just do liquids (this was 2 days ago). She said since my BMI isn't high that I would be ok. The goal is to reduce the fat around my liver. I'm so scared that they won't do the surgery. I need to drop atleast 5 lbs by Monday. What can I do???

I am hoping to schedule a VSG in March/May/June 2013. I have read everything that I have been able to find. I am confident with Dr.Kelly and feel better that he has trained in the US. I would love to hear other peoples stories as well as find a sleeve buddy!!! Did you go through Omar? Also, did anyone have a post op diet? and did you have a drain? I've read that at one hospital, Dr.Kelly would use a drain, at another he didn't. When did you go back to work? I have 4 small children and am a student so I have plenty that needs to be done. I am also thinking of traveling without my husband, due to it being very hard to find someone to stay with the kids for that long.. If an…
