Hi! I'm planning on getting sleeved soon and have been paying more attention to my eating habits and watching for my "full" signal. What I'm noticing is I tend to keep eating even after I'm comfortable because I know I'll be hungry again within an hour if I don't keep eating. I know I will get full fast after eating very little after surgery, but how long will I stay full?

I just thought I would share a little tidbit that I've learned over the last week. It's a long ramble just so you're forewarned. Had my gb removed on the 4th, Caysen (the kiddo) came home sneezing and hacking on Friday the 5th. By Sunday, John started hacking and break out in a fever of 101.6. By Tuesday, the 9th, I had a tickle in my throat, and felt a little sluggish. By Tuesday night, I was hacking up a lung with absolutely zero production, dry, heaving cough,all while trying to protect my incisions from surgery. Wednesday, I lost my voice, spiked a 102 fever, and just felt miserable. Eating became a chore, and with every meal I became extremely nauseated.…

Fell on the ice last week and broke my rib. Can hardly breathe without crying. pain meds work but make me crazy. Supposed to have surgery April 5 but doctors tell me this takes 6-8 week to feel better. After surgery I will need to cough and breath deeply so I don't get pneumonia. I can't beleive it. supposed to have a stress test next week and am not sure that will happen either. I am not walking but I am taking the needle. I guess I have to tell the cardiologist. it is :scared0:only a week away. Crap!

I seem to be belaboring the issue I suppose but I am in the process of trial and error, with antidepressant medications. So far I've tried Wellbutrin and Zoloft (both in generic versions). Both meds caused my anxiety to skyrocket and my appetite to plunge. I could hardly even look at food. Now I am on psychiatrist #2 she is starting me on something called Remeron (but generic of course!) It is taken before bedtime and acts as a sedative in a low dose which I will start with. As the dosage increases it's supposed to act as an antidepressant and increase the appetite. I just am wondering if anyone out there has had any experience taking it and can tell me of their exp…

My blood pressure has always been in the low range of normal and I was worried pre-surgery that it might fall even lower. When I brought it up to the surgeon, he said my body would adjust accordingly. Well, I've been feeling kind of "off" for the last few days. I've gotten light headed several times when I stood up, my ears have been clogged, and had a runny nose like a cold coming on, but hasn't. I am considering the sleeve but when I watch the videos of the surgery it scares me. I don't mean to be a downer but I want to know everything. The scar tissue left behind concerns me. pizza has always been my all-time favorite food, and I waited until my two month anniversary to try it. We usually get Papa Murphy's Delite pizza, which you bake at home and is basically the pizza toppings on a cracker thin crust. The crust is super, super thin and doesn't compare to any other thin crust from the chains. I cut the pizza in slices about two inches across the crust end. I was able to eat two slices, which was about a normal sized slice. I didn't really know what to expect, but I knew that with their crust being so thin, it wouldn't be like regular pizza, even thin crust from other places. Guys I am having a real hard time today. I have to lose 4-5 lbs by June 15th or I don't get a surgery date until I do. I did really good losing the first 5 lbs and fell off the wagon a little last week and really off this weekend. I didn't really overeat I just didn't stick to my diet plan. During the week last week I emotionally ate several times. Again not overeating but not sticking to my diet plan. I am supposed to be doing slim fast to try and get rid of this last 5 lbs. I did do all my exercise this weekend though. Today I am starving. I have had my slim fast shake, my Protein shake, and a banana. If I can't go a whole day on just slim fast shakes how am going to …

I just wanted to post a recap of my eventful week. Saturday night - out to dinner with a group of my girlfriends. Indulged in 4oz of chicken satay with peanut sauce, and 2oz of creme brulee. YUMMY right, yeah not so great by the time I got home (2 hours after eating). Explosive diarrhea and dry heaving. Sunday- Felt puny and kind of lethargic but otherwise "okay". Hi, everybody! This is my first post on this forum. I started out looking at the lap band, but I'm pretty well convinced that the sleeve is a much better option due to no foreign body being placed in my body. I've been a yo-yo dieter for 41 years (since I was 10) and my BMI is currently about 32-33 (5'2" and about 180 lbs fully clothed). It appears that most if not all the doctors in Mexico will do the sleeve on people this "small," and I also have an appointment with a local doctor who might consider it because I have hypertension and am self-pay. Have any of you been sleeved at such a relatively low BMI? Anybody have any input on the advisability of the surgery …

I have over six months to wait to get my sleeve according to current insurance and employer standards. Six months of "dieting" to prove to them that I can be successful in following a "program" that I will need to follow the rest of my life once I have the sleeve. But if my BMI drops below 35 once during this period, I am denied the surgery. To top it all off, at this point it has to go to a physician review board to see if I'm even bad enough off to qualify for the surgery after the six month time period is up since my insurance doesn't recognize the sleeve as anything other than experimental. I would like to know if it is common to remove a band and get the sleeve in just one operation. If you have a band that hasn't been working (no restriction) and you want the sleeve will they do that all at the same time? Theresa

Has anyone had a realize band removed during a revision? I am concerned because my port is attached with surgical clips and not sutures. D.

Can you post when you had your surgery, how much you wanted to lose and how much you have lost so far. I will move all the stats into this post. This is my own crude form of research and I think it will help my motivations to see how much people have lost. Also I read the research that says 5 years out sleevers have lost 45 - 50% of their exccess weight and kept it off. I would love to see a scatter chart on this because does that mean half gained it all back and the rest kept is off, or are the majority in the middle deeping of half the weight they lost, or is ir pretty much all over the place. This may not answer my questions since I don't think there are too many…

Well, I'm in the middle of another mini blizzard. We have about 20" of snow outside and they say it will not end until this afternoon. Of course my body wouldn't let me sleep in past 5:30 AM, so I've been sitting here trying to plan out how I can be productive today. I've decided I will clean out my closets again...I've needed to do it for a couple of months now. My question: what larger sizes, if any, do you plan on keeping? The last time I had a closet clean out I was a size 12-14. I kept many of the 14's that were really nice "just in case" I needed them again after I have a baby (God willing). This is my first weird food dream since being sleeved. Last night in my dream I forgot I was sleeved and was in a rush to go somewhere so I just grabbed two hotdogs (How weird cause I rarely ate them:scared0:) and a diet pepsi and shoved them in my mouth. About 20 mins later I thought " OH MY GOD" I can't eat those, I'm on full liquids!!! Then I thought, my sleeve must not be working right, cause I feel totally fine! lol'ing:lol0: I woke up in a sweat!!! whew....glad it was just a dream.

I'm very excited, a little worried, some depressed, much happy... I don't know. I've used food for comfort for so long and that's how I got here. I've used eating for all my emotions: happy, sad, whatever. My emotions were usually pizza flavored. Soon, I'll be hitting the gym for emotion control. I'm so looking forward to my new life. This is the tool I've waited for!

My husband is scheduled for VSG tomorrow and is wondering about issues with headaches. Currently if he goes for extended periods without food, he gets a severe headache, he is wondering if this will still be an issue after the surgery. Also he is wondering will he be able to get enough food in to prevent the headaches, if they will be an issue.

OK. Gross topic, I know. But I am supposed to be on my period now. And I can't even say that I am spotting. Maybe a tiny little bit, but that is it. Is this normal? :confused1: It has been a month since I got my sleeve. Thanks, Stacey

OK. Had sleeve done 1-4-10. Lost 19 pounds so far. But lately, feeling really low energy and depressed. I tried to eat a little bit of cornbread the other day and had the weirdest reaction. I had this fever feeling all over and these terrible cramps. Guess cornbread is a bad call. I just miss eating I guess. I miss Coke. My family doesn't get it cause I've lost some weight and I am glad of that. I just wish I felt better. Wish everytime I ate soup I didn't get gas or feel bad. What a downer post huh? Any suggestions? Since my hair has thinned out severely, I need a new "do". So I'm going to post some pics, and y'all be honest, and tell me what ya think. Also, I have a HUGE forehead, so bangs (even side bangs) help disguise it's monstrosity. My face has shrunk a bunch, and it's been determined I now have an oval shaped face instead of round and fat. Hey All, Looks like you have a great group here. I have been clicking the mouse all over this site. I have had a lap band for 30 months. 5'11" male 50 years old. I went deom 325 to 270 the first year and have not had much use of the band since. It slipped after the first year. We unfilled, waited for it to unslip (it did) and then slowly refilled. It was a year before I got more restriction and picked up 20 pounds in the meantime. I have since lost the 20 again with the refill but now I have another slip and the band has to go. I am thinking VSG and being older and wiser I thought I would look at the groups that had the procedure done a few years ago and see how they are…

When I went to Mexico for the sleeve, I met a woman who got the band. She had a lot of problems, she wasn't able to stop burping or get anything down. And when I say burp, I mean BURP! All night and all day constantly with no relief. Finally, the doctor went back in to look and see what was going on, she was inflamed (I think) and they had to scrape the wall of her esophagus and stomach wall. Well, I now have 9.75cc in my band. This number is known by adding up all of the fills minus one unfill. I know of course, that the 10cc band will hold more then 10cc. They say somewhere around 11cc. But, what really, concerns me is that my fills haven't seemed to last me more then about 3 weeks? The first week I'm usually a little tight, then second just right and by week 3 too loose. I'm beginning to worry about a leak? I'm at the end of my one year of free fills, so monday will be my last fill. I've read a lot about energy level decreasing after surgery. True I had a muffin and some cantaloupe today. But I attribute 90% of my tiredness to me being overweight (and lazy). Question is: When I lose the weight, after I've had a VSG (I'm still pre-op), will I STILL be this tired? :sad0: I just assumed that when I lost some of this weight I would CERTAINLY have more energy. The last 4 days my sleeve has been so tight. I don't get it. I can only eat like one or two ounces and I am full for hours. This is definate restriction, not just the full signal. I thought I was going to throw up for the first time today from being too full from two 1 ounce or so meatballs. Yesterday was 2 ounces of cottage cheese and I was done. I am 4.5 months out. I have been under a lot of stress in my personal life. I am wondering if anyone has their sleeve tighten from stress? It doesn't bother me but it is sudden and new.

Okay, I now the weather is frigid outside, but I can NOT seem to get warm, especially in my extremities. I am working from home today, fully dressed (long sleeved shirt, pants, socks, shoes, sweater) sitting at the table with my legs wrapped up in a blanket, the fire place on, heat set to 72 and my hair dryer blowing hot hair on my hands as I work on my laptop. My husband says our house is warm - I'm just not. I figure my body has basically decided it isn't generating any additional heat, its conserving what energy it has. I am 3 months post op and returned to my old eating ways during the holidays! While I did not gain, I haven't lost anything in 6 weeks either. I am 41 and have preschool twins. I am married, but in a struggling marriage. I work and I am going to school to become a teacher. I am on a downward spin and need someone to help me get back on track...and hold me accountable! Did anyone else have really bad sleeping patterns after surgery? I toss and turn and have really bad dreams (very vivid) since my surgery. . . I wake up with headaches that go away after about 30 - 45 minutes without tylenol. . .any comments?

I'm a previous bandster who is thinking about getting the VSG. I was supposed to have my band swapped out for a new one but due to complications it was not possible. This happened in Nov'09. I am supposed to tell the doc this month how I want to proceed for a revision. He said we could try the band again, RNY, VSG, or nothing. My insurance doesn't cover VSG but I have been looking into it since he mentioned it. I'm looking for any long term data on the VSG! It seems impossible. Well I found out what the senior sleevers are talking about when they say they got the slimies. My husband and I went to St. Augustine for a couple of days and I have been slowly introducing soft foods. I had some zero water before, waiting 45 min to eat and was so hungry for the talapia I ordered. I just started eating small bites, no problem. Then it got stuck, no other word for it, wouldn't go up or down. I kept swallowing and made it worse, sitting there in a room full of heavy eaters and I was in a panic. I was wondering if any new the difference between the sleeve and getting your stomach stapled? I know a lady that had her stomach stapled a long long time ago and it didn't work for her. I know this surgery is new and different and better but what did that do when you had your stomach "stapled"? Anybody now? Thanks

Hi all, I was banded in TJ Mexico approx. 2 yrs ago. It went great for about 1 yr then started to have problems with severe pain, bloating etc... generally felt like I was going to die. Finally, after 2 stays in hosp., I had an endoscopy done with results showing severe erosion. I had the band removed June 25/09 in TJ. Not only was it eroding into my esophagus, but the tubing was burrowing its way into my small intestine. I recovered well, but now am gaining back the weight I lost (lost about 50) I think that I have gained about 20 back. The sleeve always seemed so radical to me, but now I'm starting to consider it as the better option. Anyone out there with so…
