  1. Hi Everyone  I'm new to this site and so far it is soooo helpful. I currently have the band and I too have a lot of questions. Just want to clarify...when you say you get full really fast and once you are full that is it..done. So do you mean (sorry if this sounds really dumb) you can NOT eat another bite? If you do, do you get sick?? or do you just not want to or?? I find with the band that I over eat a lot. I don't plan on it, but I get full, then it seems to settle and I can eat more. Some days I can't eat much but other days you would never know there is a band in there.... I also thought I would be able to NOT drink when I eat...ummm yeah...not so muc…

Some of you know that my son was coming home this weekend. My younger brother and best friend are also coming out to spend a week here in sunny Florida. Well, tonight, my doorbell rang, and it was them. I was so surprised. They weren't supposed to be here until tomorrow night. I almost cried seeing Caysen. He was like "mommy, you're so much smaller" Anyways, I may be a little absent from here, but I'll check in every now and then. My little boy is home, and I feel so fabulous ! ! !

I finally got a call today for my pre-op appt. and visit with the surgeon. July 10th They said I would be there all day. It took 5 weeks to hear from anyone after the seminar and paper work. My insurance will only pay for the band or bypass. NO exceptions. I told the coordinator that I wanted the sleeve. She said the insurance will pay for all my pre testing and lab work. I wouldn't have to pay for the program fee if I was self pay. That helps alot. I would cost me about the same as going to see Dr. Aceves. My husband was told he would be layed off from his job this winter. I am trying not to put us in too much debt. Here is an idea that I have. …

Hi Everyone, Well, I made a choice a few days ago and that was to stop wearing my wig I had been wearing because of the amount of hair I had lost because of my weight loss. I already had pretty thin hair to start with and then with the hair loss happening at about 3 months after surgery, I had bald spots of the side of my head and a nice BIG one on the top of my hair. Most people are taller than I am, so they really could see my nice BIG bald spot one on the top of my head. At that time, I found a local shop in the city I live in that had wigs that I could try on and purchased 2 wigs. If you are going to buy a wig, go some place that you can try them on, that is really …

And I know my fiance is getting sleeved on the 11th, so I'll be there with him too. Now, Eyfura and I were sleeved within a day of each other, so we already know each other ... we need to be sure to get to know any of you who are going to be down there during that time frame. So SPEAK up (relatively speaking) so we have a head count and know who to look for while we're there...we'll have a big ole VST Party.:party4:

Fatty Diet Linked to Pancreatic Cancer PRINCETON, JUNE 26 -- People who consume large amounts of fat, especially from red meat and dairy products, are more likely to contract pancreatic cancer, according to a National Institutes of Health study. Men and women who consumed large amounts of saturated fat were 36% more likely to suffer from pancreatic cancer (95% CI 1.14 to 1.62, P<.001 for trend), researchers reported online in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute. The study found that the link between fat intake and cancer was strongest for saturated fat from animal food sources, which were associated with a 43% increase in cancer risk (95% CI 1.20 …

I have never had a Protein shake fill me up as much as this one did. I can't even drink my Water cause I am so full and I drank that hours ago. I thought the yogurt by itself would need some liquid. I've not gained weight and my clothes fit the same. But, when I look in the mirror or at my waist line....I just see fat. I wear size 4 jeans, and size 10/12 dress. I've always been bigger on the top. I used to wear size 20 jeans. What is wrong with me. I feel like my gut is huge. I hate feeling like this.:001_tongue:

I am going to miss my babies so much as I've never been away from them for more than a few hours. I know I'm doing this so I can be a better mommy for them, but I cry every time I think about my babies being so far away from me for 5 days. To help me get through this week, will you please share a before and after photo? I love looking at them & I really need something positive right now. Also, if you pray please remember me next week.

My mom called today to check on me, and she told me that she had to tell my step-sisters about my surgery. She said they had to know because the step-sisters needed to know that my parents were leaving town when I fell into critical condition after the leak repair. My heart just sank, and I am so upset. She said Caysen(my son) accidentally mentioned my "tummy leak" so my mother felt it necessary to explain my complete medical history to one of my step-sisters. One of my electrolytes was a little "low normal" and the dietician wanted to make sure that I was not getting dehydrated. She asked me questions about my urine, and made me pull the skin up on the back of my hand. Well, my urine is good, and my skin fell right back into place. I haven't had a temperature, not having any notable pain, and I am finally sleeping. 37. (June 12) -- Popular diets have long pushed the benefits of lowering your carbohydrate intake to lose weight, and a new study suggested that eating a high-carb diet -- with foods like cornflakes and white bread -- could also raise your risk of developing cardiovascular disease. Researchers at the Chaim Sheba Medical Center in Israel gave 56 overweight but otherwise healthy men and women foods with different places on the glycemic index. High-glycemic foods include cornflakes, white bread and instant potatoes, while lower-glycemic foods are things like oatmeal, most fruits and vegetables, and nuts. The ghrelin hormone is unique in that it requires acylation (the addition of a fatty acid) by a specific enzyme (ghrelin O-acyl transferase, or GOAT) for activation. Originally it was assumed that the fatty acids attached to ghrelin by GOAT were produced by the body during fasting. The new data by Tsch?p and his team suggests that the fatty acids needed for ghrelin activation actually come directly from ingested dietary fats. In a departure from an earlier model that was upheld for nearly a decade, Tsch?p says, it appears that the ghrelin system is a lipid sensor in the stomach that informs the brain when calories are available…
