  1. oh, no, I am not Jaffa's wife. They have loaned me their computer because it doesn't work in their room. Because I had his computer, he was logged on and I accidently posted under his name. Jaffa's wife is doing very well! Glad to hear that the 2nd day is the worst day and it gets better everyday. I am very sore. Can't hardly stand up straight. But no severe gas or naseau thank goodnes! liquids are going down very well. My taste seems to be the same. As others have posed, they are very clean here, I took a shower with my iv still in and ended up pulling it out, they were in here within seconds cleaning up. I took another shower after I got my iv out and they were back in here again collecting the towel and my gown. My daughter was in a childrens hospital in February for 3 days and 2 nights and our towels piled up on the floor the entire time we were there and trash piled up in the trash can. Much better experience here.
  2. Yes, Jaffa Steve asweome. I got so lucky meeting them here! Kathy just got out of surgery, so I guess they will be coming to ge me very soon!
  3. Thank you all for posting replies. It helped me to feel better about it! I am sitting here at the Hospital waiting for my turn to be sleeved by Dr Aceves!! I came by my self and was getting kinda scared about my decision to go alone and as luck would have it JavaSteve is here with is lovely wife!! We went to dinner last night and ate Italian as our last meal. I am so thankful to have them here with me. They are awesome! I have already been given my pills for the surgery, so it probably wont' be much longer. I'll post again soon!
  4. I have been reading all posts since April and I have finally came across a negative comment about Dr Aceves (his location) and I wanted to get some feedback. On another board a lady said that she lives in Mexico and her husband is Mexican and he forbid her to go to a boarder town so that ruled out Aceves for her. I researched violence in Mexicali, but didn't come up with anything. What are your thoughts? Any border crime statistics on Mexicali?
  5. fyi- I applied for my passport in mid may and had it in exactly 4 weeks. At the time I applied they were also saying 6-8 weekss.
  6. I have scheduled my sleeve surgery with Dr Aceves on June 28th!! :001_tt2: Anyone else going to be there close to this date?
  7. What is the difference between a liquid diet and full fluids? Thanks
  8. I feel your pain. I am waiting on my parents to find and I am sure I will get the exact same lecture. I was even leary about going to Mexico myself before I found this site (in fact I hadn't even considered it). I have done research on Mexicala and Dr Aceves outside of this site and feel totally comfortable with it now. Also, the surgeon in my area has only done 6 sleeves and he is charging $22,000! I would much rather Dr Aceves do my surgery considering he has done over 500 sleeves an over 450 bypass. I am ready to tell my parents that I refuse to discuss it with them until they research it themselves because I know I'll be wasting my breath telling them about all the research I have done. Maybe they will actually research it and it will put them at ease with my decision. That is my hope, because I am not changing my mind.
  9. Thank you all. I feel so much better now. What a burden lifted off of me and I am very excited again! I have completed my medical forms for the sleeve with Dr. Aceves! I am hoping Memorial Day weekend is not already booked. Monica said she was still booking for May but we didn't discuss specific dates. Is it unrealistic for me to think I could have the surgery on a Saturday and go back to work the following Wednesday?
  10. I hadn't considered that they have been doing gastrectomies for years. Whew!! I am over that hump now, which was the last hump! Thanks so much for taking the time to answer my question. As for my low BMI, I am self pay, so hopefully it won't be an issue?
  11. Until I found this website I was going to get the band. Now I have decided to get the sleeve. I feel comfortable with everything except the fact that there isn't data long term data. What's your thoughts about complications 20 years from now with 80% of our stomach gone? Is that possible? Also, it is listed as an advantage not to have the hunger hormone Ghrelin, but could that lack of that hormone cause problems elsewhere? These are probably a stupid questions, but I am such a worry wart. I am to the point that if I can't find some peace with this, I may chicken out and decide against WLS (which is totally depressing). I am 5'3 and 210 lbs. No major health problems (yet), just back pain. But my quality of life is miserable. No energy, yada yada. Anyways, i am rambling now, and I am sure you know how I feel, so please share your thoughts about the no long term data issue. BTW, I LOVE THIS SITE!! and can you tell me what PB means? Thanks!
