Hello everyone! I'm new to this site and just wanted to say hi and I'm hoping I'll be able to get some help. I had my lapband put on on 10/30/08. So far I have lost 23lbs which is so awesome! Lately though I've really been struggling with not being able to eat like I used to. My Dr told me that all I can have right now is protein. That's not to hard to deal with it's watching everyone else eat whatever they want when they want. It's hard to cook dinner for my husband and my 2yr old without wanting to take bites and tastes of it. If any of you out there have any advice for me please help. I have no one else to talk to about it.

I want to loose weight and I've tried regular diets but it never works. I have started the procedure. I just did my X-ray, Psh evaluation and deitician on Thursday. I'm just waiting to hear back from my insurance. I will be having the surgery in December 2008. I'm excited and nervous too. I have a lot of people supporting me and I'm ready to loose my weight. Hello, I just wanted to introduce myself. I'm Cat, 28, single, a teacher. I'm being banded on Jan 6th, 2009. That's when our 6 week school holidays are. I work in the South Australian outback in a large rural town. I've been on a restrictive low carb diet and lost 20lbs so far. I'm on day 2 of Optifast. I have a goal of being around 225lbs/ 100kgs when the surgery is performed. I am very dedicated to the gym, also. I have been doing 3-4 classes per week for 12 months now. I lived in Nashville for 5 years, so I'd love to hear from any TN banders. Cat :Dancing_sorry:

Hello all, I'm very happy to have found this great site and to have joined. I am a 44 yr old female from New England and my BMI is 42. I have gone through the entire Bariatric program, locally. I am now scheduled to meet with the surgeon next week and will be about 6 weeks scheduled out at that point. My problem is that I have not yet made a decision about which procedure I want to have done. Lap Band vs. Gastric bypass. I do not really want the GB b/c of all the potential complications that can arrise and the nutritional issues as well. And so for a long time I had chosen LB. Then I came across some YouTube "failed lap band" videos and started getting nervou…

Hi everyone, I am doing this rather backwards as I have already posted questions not realizing there is actually a way of properly doing this - oops! I am going to be booking my band procedure with Dr. Ortiz (my gal pal is also getting it done with me - I am trying to get her on here!) for early September. I wish I didn't have to wait so long but a new position at work means I have to delay it a bit. I am psyched and ready to go now but...I am sure September will be here before I know it. In the meantime I will try to continue to educate myself and prepare myself. I am really concerned about getting through the endless pre-op diet...I am a real emtional eater so th…

I have finished all of my consultation appt's, and my insurance packet was just sent out a few days ago (I think). My surgery date isn't set yet... I'm nervous, but I'm excited! I've done a lot of research. I will either be using Dr. Cywes or Dr. Baptista for my surgery, and I've been going to Jacksonville Weight Loss Center. Hey Ladies! :tongue2: My eating has been way out of control lately! My first appointment is Tuesday the 19th I met with the Dr. and the nutritionist. I haven’t really thought much about it I am just going through the motions so to speak. Did anyone else experience this kind of ravenous like eating before surgery or before their first appointment? I am thinking maybe its nerves and some anxiety about really getting closer to making up my mind about surgery. I know I am not the best when it comes to expressing my feelings so I think I am eating as a way to deal… What about you? Any changes in eating patterns as you got closer to surgery:unsure:?

I love love love this product and it has saved me so much money. The only downside is that with 3 women with shoulder-length hair or longer using it on a weekly-biweekly basis we burn one out every 9 months or so. Hi there! I'm writing from Northern Virginia and was banded by Dr. Salameh yesterday. I am very excited about what I can accomplish with the band. My doctor is a dream. I am very dehydrated from the hospital stay and just doing my little sips of water and broth. My port site hurts and my tummy is a little distended, but I think I will feel much better tomorrow. I tried for more than a year to get coverage for the surgery, finally switched insurance companies and it happened within a month. I'm a happy woman. Bests to all, Carly

My BMI is 42, and Dr. said I wouldn't have to be on it a LONG time, but still. I have to meet the dietician on the 19th of Feb. Any suggestions how to get thru this part?:biggrin2:

I left a couple of messages but I've received no response back. What happened after any of you got approved by insurance? Did it take awhile for the doctor's office to get back to you?

I had abstained from my trigger foods: takeaways, alcohol, potato chips etc. but they've since started creeping back, and my weight loss has slowed, though I'm still exercising. It's like they open up this insatiable abyss. The other thing is, my band is quite wide open for a bandit, but any more fill makes me so tight. so I am going to have surgery the second week in january and I am scared to death. What if this doesnt work either? I know that its not a cure tht its just a tool that is supposed to help me but if its up to me to make the right choices that is what I am scare about. The choces that I make have gotten me where I am now. I am scared that my relationship with food is too strong, I am scared of being thin, I keep telling myself that having the surgery is weak and I should be able to do it on my own. Only time and time again I have tried and failed. Please tell me that someone else out there has felt this way.
