Anyway just joined the site and also just got done getting my first steps done. Doc said he would start paperwork with insurance. Currently I weigh in at 301, I have been overweight my hole life (since around 6 years old). I have kept very active through school and after, I work hard, and do alot of outdoors stuff, but have never been able to loose weight. - Corey

Hi I was banded on Nov. 20th, I know one week before Thanksgiving! My surgeon was Dr. B. in Dallas and he is amazing. So far everything is going GREAT! I have not been sick or in pain. I did have an allergic reaction to the bandages so I itched like crazy but that has almost completely cleared up. I started adding mushy foods to my diet yesterday and it's been a nice change of pace. I still have not felt hungry at all, I think that is a miracle! I look forward to getting to know others walking through this amazing journey! Tammy

Hi everyone, I have been visiting this site for 2 months but not posted yet. I am trying to understand some of the lingo. What is PB, slime, and sweet spot? My surgery was 8/29 and my 2nd fill was 11/08. I know I am too tight but my question is if I wait it out will it get looser as time goes on? I don't want to take out but I am very uncomfortable and can only take a few oz. of warm liquids at a time I can take about 2 bites of food but it doesn't feel good.

Hi Guys! My name is Liz. I am 21 years old and live in Naperville, Il, a western suburb of Chicago (we just got our first 5 inches of snow for the season, it never ends!) and I am freezing ) Totally a side effect of losing so much weight..all that fat not around to insulate you! I had lap-band surgery in March of 2008 and have never made a better decision in my (long) 21 years. I nanny full time for a family of a 5 year old, 3 year old and an 11 month old and have never been happier. I also am going to school part-time (a huge controversy in my house) to be a Secondary (High School) English teacher. When I first started researching having my surger…

Hello, I am a 40 year old Mom of 2, I have been trying to lose weight for almost 20 years, I work at Mayo Cinic and they require you to show that you can lose weight before they will recommend you for bariatric surgery. I went to weight wathchers and lost 35 pounds, they have now given me the choice of RNY or Lapband, I chose Lap band, it seems so much more "controllable". I started at 270 and I am not 235, I can't wait to get this done and get back on the road to the new "Mini Me"

 I had my band done on May 6, 2008 and just within the past few weeks I have been having problems with acid reflux. I am still on mostly soups and soft foods. My stomach gurgles a lot. I never had these problems till a few weeks ago. I had my first fill June 6th and the next fill on July 14th. In september I had 1cc taken out. Anyone else having the problems like me? I have lost 60 lbs in 7 months. Nothing since August.

Hello everyone! Just wanted to introduce myself - my name is Tracy and I was just banded on November 14th in Tijuana by Dr. Kuri. It was an amazing experience, which I will share with you briefly....I live in Washington State so it was a quick flight to San Diego and a short drive over the border to Hospital Angeles (extreamly clean and professional! and comfortable!) spent the first two nights in the hospital, Thursday and Friday with surgery Friday morning. Everything went as expected and was recooperating in the hotel Saturday morning. I was home Monday late afternoon and had no problems other than a bit of gas and discomfort from the incisions. The post-op diet…

I feel great and I even look much better my dr in NJ is Dr.Borao I would recommend him to anyone hes the greatest and talk about a dr thats always by yourside... <33 Well im only 18 and i weighed 194 pre op and technically shouldnt have been banded but I was addicted to food and wouldve never lost it on my own so therefore it probably saved my life cause at 18 with sky high cholesterol and tryglicerides I was headed for despair so I really think lap band in the long run saved my life.. I am almost a week post op and today feeling great. I was a little slow moving from the surgery but yesterday and today have been 100% better. I am starting to get really tired of liquids and have moved to some cream soups that help a lot. It has been nice reading the other posts and has helped keep me encouraged and motivated. I'm interested in hearing from anyone on their experiences. I am down 14 lbs. I weighed 293 the morning of surgery and weighed in at 280 this morning. I really haven't been focused on watching weight loss because I was just concentrating on getting well from surgery. I see my surgeon on Monday, 12/08 and should be ready to go back to work.

I just had my lap band put in on Nov. 25 relatively easy right? Ok I was told I would have shoulder pain for "a couple of days" 5 days out I'm still on pain meds for my shoulder it is agonizing. No biggie, it should pass. but now I'm a little ticked because I've been researching shoulder pain and Laproscopic surgery- turns out new research shows that they can AVOID it yes AVOID it by removing the CO 2, or heating and humidifying the CO 2. How hard would that have been to save my 5 (and counting) days of agony? ( apparently this causes cellular damage so I just hope it goes away) My suggestion: every patient considering laproscopic surgery should request their Dr. do some…

Hi :wink2: I am just getting started in this process. I am going to the seminar with Dr Webb on December 9th at Memorial Hospital. I was wondering if anyone knows him. A doctor recommended him to me but I was hoping to get another opinion. Also does anyone know if Aetna might be able to waive the 3 months of doctor controlled dieting if you have gone to Weight Watchers recently? I would LOVE to be able to get this done sooner rather than later. I have tried everything and really hope that this one will work Julie

Hi, Please allow me to introduce myself to a place where I can relate to many and many can relate to me. My name is Caryn which does not sound like Karen, it sounds like Cuh-rin. I weigh 265 and I am 5'7. I have battled my weight since I was a little kid. I went to fat camp in 4th grade, and I have tried to diet ever since. I guess it has not worked. I am 33 and have a super hot loving husband, and 5 beautiful children ranging from 6mths-7yrs old. Two of my children are on the Autism Spectrum, and through them I have recognized that we all have special needs. A few months ago I went to a seminar about the lapband. I thought, what if I shell out money, and m…

I am 47 from Texas, Dr Adam Smith did my surgery. I was banded 10-02-08, I started at 304 lbs, I have lost 33lbs so far. I have been thin most of my life, until 5 years ago, 4 years ago the wieght started piling on. About a year ago I was diagnosed with cirrohsis of the liver, the doctors assume it is from a fatty liver. They also found a tumor in my liver, they are not sure if it is cancer, they will not be sure until it grows big enough to biopsy. I also have igN, which is a form of kidney disease, which is in the early stages. I was banded because of the liver disease, my doctor will not put me on the list until I get to 240 lbs, I had tried on my own to lose the wi…

But I haven't been able to get back on since and I just want everyone to know that I'm new here to the site but I'm looking forward to getting to know a lot of you. I was lap banded on Oct. 30th, 2008. My doctor is Brandt Lapschies and I live in Hawaii. The day before my surgery I weighed in at 286lbs. I'm now currently at 257lbs. I can't believe how much I feel better already by only losing 29lbs! I say "only" losing however I'm totally excited in the fact that I've already lost that much weight! I've been struggling with my weight now for the last 8yrs and to have lost 29lbs is amazing. …

I was baned on 11/25. I woke with severe shoulder pain from being under. It went away that night while in the hospital. I had a hiatal hernia repaired as well. I was discharged the following day and on pain killers. It has been hard for me to get all the fluids in, Im not in the mood to drink at all. I have to make sure i do, so I dont get sick. I was pretty dehydrated this am upon waking, almost passed out. Stayed on top of fluids all day. I have been in so much pain in the abdomen area. It has been pretty intense until today. I still though am very sore when taking in deep breaths. Sore more so upon rising from bed. I think they underestimated the pain Id be in :thumb…

I got the surgery two days ago on Nov. 28th. It went really well. Except for my weight I am a basically healthy person, no complications. I boarded Amtrak at 7:00 pm Wednesday for the 24 hour trip from Austin to El Paso where I was picked up and taken to Angels Hospital in Juarez, Mexico. Dr. Rodriguez and two other doctors performed the procedure on Friday the day after Thanksgiving Day. 20 hours later I was on the 24 hour train back to Austin. I got back home 2 hours ago. I don’t recommend doing it all this quickly but I really had no choice. My only complaints are pain at the port sight and really evil gas!! I'd been trying to get financing for a year. It …

Just want to say Hi and introduce myself. I'm starting to consider lapband surgery and this seems like a great place to learn more. Here's a little about myself... * I'm 39, 5'5", 220 pounds, had high blood pressure my entire adult life, just found out I have high cholesterol too now. I feel like diabetes is just around the corner and I'm bummed out. * My mom had the complete metabolic syndrome including diabetes. She got the lapband one year ago and has lost almost 100 pounds. I am sad that she struggled her whole life w/weight and didn't get this help until her 60s. * I've been on every diet under the sun. Last attempt was WW, lost about 45 pounds over two y…

I have my date for surgery but have lots of questions about what to expect post-op. I have a desk job and was wondering how long it would be to return to work? What the pain is afterwards? My surgery is scheduled for Jan 8, 2009 and I go back to weigh in before surgery on Dec 19,2008. I was on a diet before I saw my doctor to schedule my surgery and lost 9 lbs but since Thanksgiving I have probably gained it back. I'm having problems with the diet here during the holidays. Does anyone have any suggestions?:cursing:
