Port flipped :(
I had surgery in February and I just found out on Tuesday that my port is flipped too. I am totally bummed. Before I found out I got stuck with the needle 6 times too trying to get a fill. I really hope that it is an easy recovery too. Congratulations on your weight loss. Let me know how your revision surgery goes  Julie

Need a PEP TALK!!!
I also had bouts of diarrhea right after surgery. I am sure it is because of the fluids. I would move on to mushies for a couple of days and see if that helps. Even if you still have it after a day I would keep trying. I ALSO had deep regret right after surgery. I vomited for 3 days after surgery and kept thinking that I made a huge mistake. I had surgery on Feb 5th, 2009 and I have lost 35 lbs so far and I have had 5 fills and 1 unfill. My surgeon and my nutritionist are thrilled. I thought that it was slow but they said that sometimes it takes people a while to get to the right "sweet spot" I don't think I am there yet but I am close. Keep your chin up. It will get better  Julie

Any Jacksonville FL folks?!
I LOVE Dr Webb!!! Plus you have Novus Centers to help you with all the paperwork. I was banded on Feb 5th and I didn't have to do anything except go and see the doctors to get the medical clearance. Novus really helps a lot with all the paperork and Dr Webb is great. Good Luck  Julie

What is it supposed to "feel" like
Hi All  I was just banded on Feb 5th so I feel like I am still in the learning curve but I really to have a silly question. I got my first fill on March 16th and I think they overfilled me because I couldn't keep anything down. The next day they removed 2 cc's so now I have 2 cc's in a Realize band. When I eat too much I feel a lot of pressure right under my breast bone. I am assuming that it is because I ate too much? I was under the impression that if I ate too much it would come right back up? Am I incorrect? I feel like I need more "incentive" to not eat too much. It is uncomfortable but not terribly so. I am thinking that maybe I need another fill? Maybe only 1 cc? I am starting to gain back some of the weight that I lost pre op and then post op and I really don't want to!! I really hope that someone who has been banded for a while can let me know because my nutritionist and my surgeon can't really help me Thanks in advance  Julie

i cant keep fluids down
I just had a fill on March 16th and I couldn't keep fluids down either. I called the next day and they said to come in ASAP because my band was too tight. I would get in as soon as possible. You must be dehydrated by now. It only took me one day to become dehydrated because I couldn't keep Fluid down either. Good Luck  Julie

Help!!!! I am in sooo much pain
I hope you went to the ER. That does not sound right. They will be able to control your pain in the ER if the pain meds that the doctor gave you can't get it under control. Keep us posted  Julie

Chewable Vitamins?
My nutritionist recommends taking those Bariatric Advantage supplements also. I have to take then twice a day and they have one specifically for lap band Julie

Insurance for corrective surgery
I have a feeling that you might not even find a doctor to perform the lap band. The BMI is so low and from what I have read most won't even do it unless you have a bmi 35+ with co morbidities or 40+ without co morbidities...

Any Feb.5th bandsters?
I was banded Feb 5th. I wish I was having a good time like the 2 listed above. I feel like a swallowed a whole apple all the time and it is just sitting there. It is pain and pressure right under my breast bone. I feel it all the time but sometimes it is worse. Has anyone ever (before they were banded) swallowed too fast and not chewed enough? You get that weird feeling of pain and pressure and then it passes? Well, I get that and it passes but then I always feel the pressure. I am going to the surgeon tomorrow. When I called them earlier in the week they said that it was normal and it would pass. I did have some pretty violent dry heaving when 2 and 3 days from surgery and I am wondering if that is why I feel like this. Maybe the swelling didn't go down as fast as it should because of the vomitting? The surgeon said that the vomitting would not hurt my band but I am wondering if that is why I am feeling like this all the time. I hope to get some answers tomorrow. Julie:confused:

Help!!
I had a pretty good night. I slept about 11 hours. I asked the surgeon about dry heaving and moving the band and he said that it was not a problem. He said that the main concern right now is getting dehydrated. I am just drinking water and eating broth. I guess that is all I can have. I am going to call the surgeon again on Monday and get it completely straight what is "clear" and what is "full" because I got different information from the nutritionist. I don't want that to happen again so I really want to do the right thing. I guess I know now what happens when you don't follow the instructions. Maybe it is good that I learned that early in the game... I will keep you informed. I am hoping that I am over the hump now. Julie

Help!!
My husband just talked to the surgeon. He said that I am supposed to be on clear liquids only. I was told that I could take a crushed up pill "with a little applesauce" and I took that as I could have applesauce. My mistake  I started dry heaving again and he said that if that doesn't stop I have to go to the ER and get fluids  I really don't want to do that but I guess we will see.

Help!!
I hope someone can answer my question. I had surgery on Feb 5th so I am only 2 days post op. I had a very bad day yesterday with terrible dry heaving all day. I called my surgeon and he called in some anti nausea medication and I haven't had it today. However today whenever I eat I get really bad pressure right under my breast bone. I keep thinking that is because I am eating too fast but I don't know how to eat more slowly. He also told me I could eat applesauce so really all I am eating is that and Protein supplements and everytime I eat I am getting that. Any idea what I can do to stop it? It is really uncomfortable. I am sure that it is something I am doing but I don't know what. Thanks Julie

Realize Band or Lap Band
Working Mom, I also saw that poster who is completely against the realize band and I also agree that he works for lapband because of all the information he has. I am getting the realize band on Thursday this week because that is the one that my surgeon uses. I have a lot of information from them and their website is great. It does seem like it is a personal choice for the doctors though which one they go with. Julie
