  1. Here in Texas. We have to wait a couple of weeks to get your license in the mail. I saw my picture and really didn't know they guy on the old license. What prompted me to get a new license was I was stopped by a policeman because he didn't see my registration sticker on my truck. (It was there). Anyways, I have the policeman my license and he couldn't believe that was me on my license. So, I had to show him my federal license from work to prove it was me.

First day to the site. Looks great so far. A little about myself, I'm a 43 year old father of a 1 year old baby girl. I just had a Dr's appt on Monday and found out I'm at my all time highest weight of 315 lbs @ 5ft 10in. I had the lap band surgery in '08. It worked well. I got down to 240ish. Then in 2010 it got herniated and had to be removed. So my plans now are RNY.

  3. I was up late at night suffering from some really bad reflux after a recent fill and was searching for other causes of my night time choking on stomach goo. I found this site and found my answers. I've been banded since June 2010 and have dropped 65 lbs. I'm kinda stuck at my current weight and am getting frustrated. I can't handle more fills, so I need an alternative. I work out like a mad man, and have completed many 10k runs and a half marathon....so I stay active... Ideas?

Guys, I had a nice NSV the past week or so. I have been wearing my favorite cologne for a while now but all of the sudden women are stopping and saying omg you smell so good, five separate times this week alone. Don't remember that 60 lbs ago. May be my body chemistry is changing with the weight loss. I am seven weeks out. I'll take it.

  7. Hey Gents, Just joined and had my first consultation with the Nutritionist. Thought I was ready but then went over diet plans before and after. Now I'm a little freaked. My Mother in Law had bypass last year and went from 273 to 166 ,and it saved her life. The Beer concern is what scares me a little. I have 2 young girls so don't really drink as much any more but enjoy a beer or two at the end of a hard day. Any advice ?

Morning all I have a question I've lost a hundred lbs so far. My skin isn't sagging or anything. But my ribs hurt like crazy and when I run I get a sharp pain under my pec, I can pin point the spot and it feels like I'm touching a nerve. I actually tried running, hurt to bad then tried elliptical with the same effect. Has anyone else had any issues like this? I am just wondering!

I'm not really too hungry. some stomach pain, gas, etc. but I seem to be doing ok. just want the pain sites to heal and stop hurting. i got 6 in total. the other night we cooked. i fed my daughter some chicken finger style and some fries. wifey had a steak and cheese. she felt bad. but i honestly didn't care too much thank God. Hey Guys, Just wanted to give you all a heads-up if you are pre-op and come back with unusually high or borderline high levels of Iron in your blood. My surgeon, although noted the elevated level, was not concerned. As they were inflating my abdomen, it triggered a vagus nerve response that actually stopped my heart. They introduced Atropine and I came back. They waited a few minutes and decided to proceed with the surgery once consulting with other physicians and a cardiologist. Everyone seemed completely baffled by the phenomenon, especially since all of my pre-surgery test came back so strong. When I reminded the doctor that my iron levels were unusually high…

Im 3 weeks & 3 days post op yesterday I ate a bit to fast and had to get rid of it, now every time I eat some thing I get this tightness and heavy feeling in my chest! It seems to last for nearly an hour then dissipates, slowly. I ate one scrambled egg this morning, and the same thing happened, just had to get rid of it. Its just very uncomfortable and is really starting to concern me. Liquids give me a bit of the same feeling initially but not to the same magnitude. Any advise?

Good afternoon. I got lap band done 2/7/13. I sometimes feel strange and wanted to know if it is normal. I have high blood pressure but it is controlled. It is hard to describe but it is like when you played contact sports and got hit some, the next day between your shoulder blades and around your ribs a discomfort. Not really a pain It is not all the time but if I'm in a chair for couple hours sitting up I feel it. Has anyone felt this. I am also about 18 lbs less than my weight on 2/4 Thanks

As I have been exercising the jiggling of certain parts has been getting distracting, not to mention my Moobs are not as pert and perky as they were before I got banded so I started looking at compression wear which is hideously expensive. I decided to try some from www.instaslim.com. I got them today and I am very happy with them they hold everything on my upper torso nice and close to my body and the jiggling has all but stopped.

Started back to work a couple day prior to my 3 week post op date! I was SO tired last night I didn't do anything until work tonight! Second day at work went great! I have not had that feeling of hunger since my surgery, wondering if that will ever return? Also anyone have any trouble eating breads or pasta? I have not tried this but just curious, still in the "baby food" stage! As of today down 32 lbs from surgery, and loving it!!

  19. Funny thing has happened since I've been losing weight, and It's not surprising really. Everything seems to get better. Life just tastes better, and a symptom of that is looking after yourselves in lots of small ways. I've recently discovered shaving with a double edge (DE) razor. I'm loving it. My skin is a lot better because I don't have a multi blade cartridge shaver ripping my hair out and cutting it at the root. It's also turned a chore into something that I enjoy doing. I look like a man again (ie not a sack of potatoes) and I start the day the way men are supposed to, shaving with a blade. It's the way your Dad might have shaved, but probably how your Grandfa…

What made you decide to get the sleeve? Did you start with the Band and revised to sleeve? If so, why? I know that both take work and a lifestyle change - I just want some honest unbiased opinions on why you think one is better than the other.

All of us get lazy or distracted or lose our concentration, despite what our earnest intent may be. As a diabetic Bandster, the advantages of realistic moderation of my natural inclination to put off/ignore/deny the need for ACTION in my own behalf, is a conflict between the Rational and the Emotional part of my brain. One of the most helpful tools I have is the (free) newsletter of David Mendosa. I heartily recommend his information-rich postings. So I'm only 4 days post op, so I'm just looking for some tips in the upcoming weeks. I'm down a little bit of weight and that is going well, I'm just still recovering a bit.. I'm still on the Protein with Water and all that, so I haven't chewed anything in a while so it's getting old. How is the eating down the road? Any favorite recipes? Is anyone back to lifting weights? I'm big into weights and am kinda discouraged that I can't lift for a few months. I feel like my muscles are just wasting away at this point. Just looking for some different and thoughts. Thanks

I have gone to 2 of the 6 required nutritionist visits required for weightloss surgery. I see the surgeon next month to decide what type of surgery I want to have. I am 26 yrs old, 6'3", and 327 with sleep apnea, high cholesterol, pre diabetic, and minor reflux. Dieting hasn't worked too well bc I always gain it back. I've been on 4 major (and expensive) diets since I was 13. I am just so tired and beat down feeling... 43. I took this from a blog that I read online (briankim.net) that addresses the issue of why men should lift weights. He makes a lot of valid points with this article and the benefits of lifting are very real. One thing I would add is if you've never lifted, take your time, don't worry about poundage, do something you can handle and train yourself to use good form. Then slowly buildup as you wish and can lift safely. Speaking from personal experience, the benefits of safe technically sound lifting are amazing! scale, who have very little testosterone. You can tell who these guys are. They're the ones who are not quite male and not quite female. It seems that all the …

All I did was cut out soda too, so that's a bonus. I just found out that I've been offered a new job, one that ISN'T out in the oilfield. My only concern is that, with my new insurance that I will be getting on, they're going to make ne start everything all over again.
