Its not bad at all! Your sleep when it goes in the hard part. When it comes out its so quick and I really didn't feel nothing.

When's your surgery date? Mine's the 21st and I've been asking my fiancé repeatedly how his catheter was (he had brain surgery.)

It wasn't bad according to him, but he did pee on the nurse when it was being removed. I think you and Mr.Happy will be just fine

Oh well just frigging great!!! So some nurse is going to play Zigfred and Roy with Mr Happy then make balloon animals in my bladder. Surgery is now five six days away...!!!!

I woke up without it in also and without my cpap being used. I was surprised, but then a female nurse had to put it in 2x after I failed to go normally after a day. 2x because they had to let me try again after the first time. Oh the horrors. I think that was worse then the surgery. LOL!

I woke up at 830pm in recovery got to my room with no catheiter. I tried to use the restroom and could not, tried and tried till 430am still no go. They did a bladder scan and it was 1100cc I was in tears. I told the nurse I didnt give a Da@# what it felt like do it now! The put in a in and out type and with the relief I got, the little bit of discomfort is nothing. It really isnt that bad.

I had a totally unrelated surgery six years ago. In the weeks after the catheter came out, I developed scar tissue in my urethra. The urologist said some people are much more sensetive, or whatever, but it basically narrowed the urethra, and peeing took forever. This wasn't inflammation or swelling, but actual scar tissue.

Over the last few years the scar tissue has lessened, but I was never back to 100%.

For the VSG surgery in August, I had to have a catheter again. I told the surgeon they will need to have my urologist on hand just to put it in. I wanted to make sure a doctor who knows ME was inserting it.

Sadly, I've developed scar tissue again. There is no way to prevent it, said the doctor. As long as I can pee, there's no cause for alarm. If it narrows too much, then I will need a special surgery. Right now it takes me about two minutes to pee, because it comes out so slow.

Sorry to be Major Buzzkill here, but you guys ought to know.

I had a catheter. It was inserted while I was under anesthesia. I truly needed the catheter because the anesthesia shutdown everything. I truly felt nothing when it was removed. I was so tired at the time of removal I did not care who removed it. The female nurse was 100% professional. Truly it was no big deal. Do not worry about the catheter.

I just want you boys to know that the first thing they taught us in nursing school when it came to placing catheters in men is "grab it like you own it". And that's the motto we go by lol

I asked the operating room nurse that question before I went under and she said absolutely no! Unless I acted up would they reconsider They wanted me up within hours out of receovery to move around, walk and hit the rest room when I needed. I took full advantage of that opportunity!
