I have so much to be thankful for today! My first question to dr V was are you staying....He told me that unofficially yes he is. They are still going through paper work stuff but he is staying at the Bariatric Center...Yippie... I know that the Lord lead him to me and I could not imagine it was for him to leave. He was very happy today as I was. So if anyone is looking for a GREAT and WONDERFUL lap-band surgeon, hang tight and call the office in a week or 2, you won't be sorry! Now the other good news, I've lost 11 pounds since my pre-op appointment on the 19th of Oct. Total weight loss since I started liquid phase, 22 pounds. Staples are out and oh boy does…

I think I only drank about 36oz of Water today. So am I ok or am I screwing up already!

How long is recommended? Are there some pitfalls I'm not thinking of? Nothing wild or crazy, I just want to know what to expect. Thanks for the help!

I wasnt fat as a child, a pre-teen, teenager, or in early adulthood. I was fairly slim weighing around 125-130, size 7/9, all through school. In my early 20s I went to 150's. At 26 I met my husband and was at 158. (152 in wedding dress) After 13 years being happily married I now weigh 228. There has never been a week/month/year that stands out for weight gain. It has just gradually crept up. Around 5 lbs a year, nothing drastic. I am definitely a yoyo dieter. I have gained and lost the same 20 lbs. so many times, and then some. I sometimes feel like I have let the weight creep up BECAUSE I am happy. I was all the recognized things in high school,,. class fa…

I don't really think this is a NSV, but its definitely a mental victory... I'm a scaloholic. I weigh several times a day, even though I realize I shouldn't. This weekend, my family and I went to the country to visit some friends. I knew this friend didn't have a set of scales, so I considered taking mine lol - I know, its tragic. But in the end, common sense prevailed (err, it could have been that I knew my hubby would think I've totally lost it) and I left the scales at home. I didn't even miss them! I've been home several hours and walked past the scales a handful of times, but not stepped foot on them. I'm going to try to regulate my weigh-ins to Monday morni…

I mean is is all "bread products" or just eating a big roll? Will I ever be able to eat a sandwich or egg mcmuffin again, or do I just have to avoid a roll?

Anyways, I went to a bar tonight with my DH and some friends and I didn't drink but they were asking me when I could drink again and I don't know. When can I drink again? DISCLAIMER: I KNOW alcohol has empty calories, and I should avoid it, but I'm in my 3rd year of law school and I'm a little stressed by that and the looming bar exam so any critics will just have to accept that I AM going to have a margarita from time to time!

One thing I can't work out is where all this gas is coming from, do they really put that much into you!!!! Mind you, it seems the more I let go the better I feel!!! I know this probably isn't the right place to say it but the staff and service I got from Dr.Joya were just fantastic. I was hoping to have surgery on the 22nd, but Dr. Spivak had prior commitments and they were having a hard time scheduling for that day. About 3:30 Thursday (9/15/05) I was told they could do it Friday morning. I think it worked out pretty well, since I didn't have time to worry about it or get nervous. I feel pretty good, still lots of gas pain, but the gas-x seems to help. I'm back at work today!!!!!

Until then, when on mushies how much shoud I eat at one time and when I start eating all food how much should I eat at one time. 3 hours ago I had 2/3 the mushy inside filling of a burrito (no tortilla) and now I'm kinda hungy so I'm having a 3 oz cup of pudding. Does this seem right, wrong or what? Also, will my brain figure out this band thing ever and start sending me signs?

Yes, it's a huge and frightening decision, and it's a big gamble. People DO have some major complications, port infections, erosion, etc. But look at Michelle. Just look at her! 27. First off my good, or should I say great news is I'm down 95 pounds since my surgery 4/29/05! I may make my at the time very flippant goal of 100 pounds in 6 months! At the time I thought it would be impossible but now I sure hope I can do it but if not I'm still very pleased with the loss so far! Now my bad news...seems my port has completely flipped and when the PA tired to do my fill she said she was hitting the backside of my port. Well, 6 needles and 30 minutes later, she decided she couldn't do it. Needless to say today I'm sore as all get out and I have a bruise the size of Rhode Island! I am scheduled to have my very first fill with Dr. Pleatman in West Bloomfield, MI on Monday the 10th. I was wondering if anyone can relate their fill experiences with this doctor. I had my surgery on July 29th, and I am down 25lbs and have had no weight loss in 3 weeks. I am a self-pay, and I'm pretty sure he charges $250 for the first visit and $150 for every other visit. My specific question is how aggressive is he with his fills? I'd hate to go in and have him put like .2 cc's in my 4cc band in order for me to have to spend hundreds upon hundreds of dollars over many visits to find a sweet spot. Thanks!

I know I am still over a week from surgery, but we leave for PV early Sat. morning. Only like 4 days from now. It is as if when I speak, I am creating saliva faster than I naturally swallow and then it seems to sometimes "leak" out as I talk or I constantly have to discreetly slurp it back. Ya know those people that have spit streams when they talk between their lips??? Ewwww.... but I know I am not THAT bad but it is how I feel. Its noticeable for me. Anyone?????????

The first few bites are down right painful, some times it feels like something is stuck but then i get up and walk around and then it seems ok, i can continuing eating.I have thrown up 2 times but I think it is because I ate too fast. I think it's ok but because I have never had a fill before I am unsure of what it should feel like. Should it take me so long to eat? Should it hurt? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

After going over my health history and doing a minor check up, he concluded that the band would be my best bet. I did not even have to go in and support my belief of why I would rather have the band than the RNY; he did all of that for me. He answered all of my questions (which I thank all of you for providing) and really put me at ease.
