Hi all, just stumbled upon this website and I am glad I did. I am about to get banded soon too I hope. My insurance has approved it, just have to go thru another approval from the hospital, and then I am on my way to. I went to my first informational seminar today, and I am glad because a lot of my questions were answered. I have made my appointment with the psych, so I guess it will all be downhill from there. Or maybe uphill????? I dont know! Either way I am so exited. Hmmmm, wonder what they ask you as far as the psych eval? Any input?

Hi all. My name is Linda and I am new to this site. I was banded on 05-16-07 and to date have lost 105 pounds. I was doing great until October, when i began to have serious stomach problems. My fill was removed in November adn i had finally decided to have it put back in and BAM the stomach problems are back. My problem only happens at night after i fall asleep. I wake up with a mouthful of bile or vomit. ( I know YUCK!). It seems to go on most of the night. I have tried harldy eating adn not eating at bedtime. Any one out there with suggestions, I would appreciate it.

Hi all! I am a 27 year old male who is 6' 1" at 310 pounds. For the most part I feel pretty healthy and don't feel that big most of the time. However, I do have consistant high blood pressure, I am on the verge of being diabetic and have diabetes on both sides of my family history, my knees for the past couple years have been hurting, my hips have started hurting, I am pretty sure I have a little sleep apnea (never had a sleep study done) I have absolutely horrendous heart burn all the time due to a hiatal hernia, I have had my gall bladder out and besides all that, I am just sick of being fat. I also have gynecomastia (think I spelled that right) which for those who …

Hi everybody, well I had my surgery in October, and I'm lingering around a 30 lbs loss. I can't get passed it. I just weighed myself this morning, and I think I have lost like one pound in the last two weeks. I am happy that I got the surgery, but I get a little discouraged when I don't see the scale change. Going into the surgery, I thought that afterwards, I was going to be like this lap band poster child, I was going to do everything right, but it has been quite the contrary. Anyway, I just wanted to say hello to everyone. I just joined, and I am looking forward to meeting and reading everyones stories.

I am one of the luck ones in that my insurance will pay for 80% of my surgery. I am hopeing to have a surgery date within the next week or two, and hopefully have surgery next month. I have been reading everything I can get my hands on regarding the Lap Band and just wanted to thank everyone who posts here, you have answered a lot of questions and really given me hope. I have not gained any weight since October. However, I have not lost any either. Has it been too long? What does this mean for me? Will I ever be able to find a docotor in my area? There I have found many friendly fellow bandsters and bandsters to be. I spend hours on here, and I love it! I was banded on February 18, 2008, by Dr. Ajay Goyal, here in New Jersey at Overlook Hospital. The surgery went very well, and I hardly had any pain or gas. I was so lucky, but Dr. Goyal is an excellent surgeon and is very, very good at what he does. I was up and walking around that very night. My room was a suite, and it was absolutely lovely. I'm still not sure if it is the right thing to do - my husband (Mr. Army, who has to work hard to GAIN weight for crying out loud!) seems to think that a treadmill and eating less will fix everything. Lets be honest, if that were the case, I wouldn't be here. But I do wonder if he has a point, am I giving up? I realize that a lap band isn't the easy way out (that would be taking up permanent residence on the couch), but it is a little embarrassing, scary, intimidating... I can't believe I really did it! I had talked about doing it for years, and started the insurance approval process almost a year ago. At several points I thought to myself - "I'm just talking a good game, I can't really go thru with it." Or I'd think of reasons why I didn't really need to do it. But as the surgery date came closer, I feel like I sort of went on auto pilot, and something took over and led me thru. Now I'm 4 days into recovery, and it still doesn't seem real. It's a very weird sensation.

I am a research participant for Allergan and have received my first fill on 5 March 08 with 5cc. I am married with 2 grown children. I am now 51 years young. My decision to have the lapband was not just because of my obesity but because of my health going downhill faster than I could keep up with it. Good carbs vs. bad carbs, doesn't matter I like them all. Nothing but this band could stop me from wanting more. OA wasn't for me- that was just more deprivation. I …
