Baby Steps...

My name is Rachael. I am 28 and have struggled with my weight since my teens. I balloned up during the last eight years. I am an emotional eater and I have been in a horrible marriage, which made things worse. i have finally gotten myself out of the situation and things are changing in my life. I have a beautiful 4 year old son, and I want to be healthy and be around for him for a long time. Right now I have GERD, Obstructive sleep Apnea, PCOS and high cholesterol, thankfully no diabetes or Hypertension---YET! I was just approved for the LapBand program that my insurance covers yesterday! Right now I am totally stoked, but nervous and a little scared too... I am really afraid to be put to sleep. I am ready to do this and nothing is going to stop me from being successful, but I believe moral support is vital, so i look forward to being inspired by many of you and I hope one day i can inspire someone as well. I want to know anything and everything to do with your experiences, good and/or bad! I can't wait to hear back from you all!

Best wishes,

Rachael

Welcome to LBT and congrats on getting insurance approval! It sure helps knowing they are covering costs.

If you are really scared about going under, do tell them about it at the hospital. They can give you something to help you relax beforehand.

Best wishes & hope to see you around here!

Hi Rachel,

Keep making good choices. I wish the lap band had been available when I was your age. I was banded March 4, have mild restriction and love it! My first fill is April 9, which should be interesting. The surgery wasn't too bad, but I didn't have to chase around a four year old! See if you can get some help after your surgery with your little guy. I wasn't horribly sore, but sore enough. Every day that has passed, my surgical sites have become less and less tender. Do you know when you will be banded or are you just beginning? Keep us posted! SS
