  1. I am 23 weeks today, I have lost 15lbs since finding out we are expecting, but I am really worried because I cant seem to keep any food down and I am barely able to keep much fluid down. My surgeon moved out of state shortly after my surgery so I was just seeing a fill doc, I had a complete unfil at about 8 weeks but it didnt seem to do any good. What should I do?? I dont have a regular surgeon and I dont feel that my fill doc knows any more about the band than just how to add and remove fluid. I would appreciate any suggestions. My OB says the baby is growing great and everything looks good, but I am so miserable not being able to eat.
  2. Well my bandiversary is May 15th, so far I have lost 44lbs. Not as much as I was hoping, but I will take it all the same. i am pretty sure some of the life stuff I have had to deal with over the past year has contributed to my slow loss, I lost my one month old nephew in Aug. then my brother was killed in Iraq on Sept. 4th, then my grandpa died in a car accident on Oct. 28th, so just the fact that I have managed to get and keep some weight off during all of this greiving (and eating) is a plus in my book.
  3. Thank you everyone for your advise. I wasnt able to get a hold of my doc, so I have just waited it out. Most of the pain has gone away, but I am not able to get much of anything in, including water, which caused me to have a horrible head ache, I think I will call the doc again today and see about having a little taken out, but I am worried, I have lost 6lbs, which I know isnt healthy, but I dont want to have some taken out and then not lose at all. Oh well, I know I cant go on like this, I feel terrible.
  4. Hi Everybody, I had my first fill on Tuesday and ever since I have been in a lot of pain. It hurts to swallow anything, even water. I am having pain in my chest and my throut. Has anyone else had this after a fill? I have 5cc in a 10cc band. I have called my surgion and am just waiting to hear back from him.
  5. Glad to hear everythng is going good. I was also banded on the 15th. I only took the pain meds once, the liquid tasted awful, but have been taking Advil (Dr. said I could) I havent had a lot of pain, except in the port area, when ever I get up it feels like pulling. I still have some gas pain, I can feel it in my chest so I have been trying to get up and walk around. I have been laying in bed a lot which I figure is why I still have gas pain. Today we are going to a bbq, I will be bringing my broth. wish me luck. :biggrin2:
  6. I will be banded on the 15th too!! I am really excited, but nervous, not so much about the actual surgery but more about living with the lap-band. I did a ton of research before I decided to take this huge step, but it is still scary. I worry that I will never be able to eat my favorite foods, but then I am also looking forward to food not being the center of my life. I am just rambling:blush: good luck to everyone!!!
  7. I started the pre-op diet yesterday, liquids only for three days. It is not fun. I am so hungry, and cranky. Thursday is coming so fast, I cant believe it. Good luck to us all!!!
  8. Thursday May 15th is the day, thats next week. I think I might throw up!!:cursing: Im so nervous, but also really excited. I have been researching the Lap-Band for awhile now and am confident this is what I want to do. I am ready to start my new life!!!
  9. I got my surgery date today...May 15th:tt1:, thats only a week away. I am a little freaked out, it is pretty real, for so long I was able to think of it as something that might happen, or was going to happen some time, but now I have a date. I only have to do a 3 day preop liquid diet, so that is really great. I am looking forward to getting this over with, I have never had any kind of surgery so I am pretty nervous, but still really excited. Best of luck to everyone. ~Chris:rolleyes2:
  10. I am a 30 something mom of one from Denver Colorado. I just got my insurance approval yesterday, so we will be scheduling my surgery soon. Im so excited, but also really nervous. I have never had surgery before, and this is a life changing decision. Just wanted to stop by and say HI, so HI!!:tt2:
  11. Hi Anne, Well I have BCBS and when I first contacted my surgeons office they went ahead and contact the insurence to see if they would possible cover it and they said they would if I met certain requirements. Mainly they wanted me to have a psych eval and a nutrition eval, and a letter from my primary doc. and really that was it. I have a BMI of 40 and diabeties on both sides of the family, but thankfully I dont have it yet. I completed the evals and then waited, I kept calling and bugging them and today they came back with my approval. Good luck to you. If you have anyother questions just let me know.
  12. so I just heard back from my surgeons office and Im approved for surgery!!! I dont have a date yet, but we are thinking probably the first full week in May. I have been thinking about the lap band for a year, and have been going through all the steps since January, but I am kind of freaking out right now. I have never had surgery, I have never been under anestesia. I know I really want to do this, and I am ready to make the life changing sacrifices to be healthy, but it all seems like so much, I am scared that I wont be able to do it, that I will fail like I have before. Im scared about surgery and waking up. I have a 4 year old who is my world and the thought of leaving him makes me sob. Sorry Im just ranting. I am just kind of all over the place. Im excited to finally be doing this, but scared to finally be doing this, when it was something in the future it was a lot easier to believe that I could do it. Thanks for listening :glare:
  13. I am not yet banded, but I'm hoping to get my surgery date in the next few weeks. I started thinking about getting banded last July, but it took me until January to actually get serious. My problem is I feel guilty for getting the band, I sometimes feel like if I just worked harder, or was more commited, and stepped away from the candy bowl I could it on my own. I am 30 years old, 5'5'' and 240lbs. I have been at this weight for 5 years (since having my son) I have done other things to lose weight but nothing worked. Has anyone else dealt with feelings of guilt over getting the band?? :confused2:
  14. Thanks everyone for answering my questions:tt1:
  15. I am sure this has been answered before, but I was unable to find it in a search, what is PB and slimeing (not sure of the spelling)????? I am still in the process of getting my insurance to give the go ahead, but I have seen it mentioned a few times. Thanks.
