Hey all! I was finally banded yesterday using the Realize band. I had a terrible experience after walking the 2nd time, got cold, clammy and severe nausea. I returned home in the late afternoon yesterday and was in a significant amount of pain and tried to take the Vicodin crushed in some applesauce and minutes later ran heaving to the bathroom. i didn't actually throw up but heaved and boy did that hurt! I had a rough night with no pain meds and then my mom picked me up some liquid Tylenol today. Still in decent pain about a 7 out of 10 but at least am able to tolerate more fluids today. I am walking a lot and taking the GasX strips. Just hope I can tolerate the pain med…

Those who are successful...what are you eating in a typical day? Do you EVER snack or eat something in between meals? Does the "1 cup" rule mean that for the Protein and veggies combined? I write down everything i eat...but busy days..life...i find that could could def be making better choices. I am trying to combine Weight Watchers with my band. (when I did WW years ago, I pretty much ate anything and lost..as long as I stayed within my points) Can that be the same for the band? Can I have a WW brownie? I want to see what others are eating everyday...esp those who are very successful! Thanks!

I am having a moment and just need to vent. I was banded last Tuesday (10/20) & am finally feeling better today. The post-op gas was a killer! I feel like I am going to bust if I have to have anymore liquid! I know that this is temporary and for good reason but I just feel so alone in this part of the journey! It's not that I'm hungry because, really, I'm not. I just feel like I will never have a meal with my family again! I am having moments that I question my decision. I'm sure this will all pass. To top it all off I found out today that a family member slipped and told others about my banding!! It's not that I was going to keep it secret forever but I …

The DW just cooked me some lovely juicy chicken that went down without any problems. Basically she got some kitchen foil, and made what I can only describe as a little foil tent for the chicken to go into. She covered the chicken with foil making sure it was fully sealed inside, but left loads of room around it so it looks like the chicken was sitting inside its own little foil tent. This then went into the oven for 20 minutes on a medium/high heat and it cooked in its own steam without any moisture escaping. This kept all the juices inside and stopped it drying out. When served, it was nice and juicy and went down a treat (Still chew lots though !!!) without any …

  6. Hi everybody! My name is Susan. I am today four days post op. I have a lot of fears and concerns. I am scared that the surgery didn't work. I am not feeling the full feeling that I have read other people talk about. Is it normal to be hungry frequently after the surgery? The hunger is really frightening me. I am on the full liquids now. I am able to eat soups and yogurt, etc. Please tell me that others out there felt the hunger initially and didn't feel the fullness that others speak of. :lol0: I am worried that it didn't work. Thanks forr any advice!

WOW! what a ride. Much more than I expected. I am home. Trying to find something to drink that A. does not make my ankles swell. B. tastes tolerable.. I am still on the anitbiotics so I wonder if that is what makes every thing taste bad. Except S/F pudding. Sweet things taste OK. I am wanting something hot so I have been drinking herbal teas. Now, does any one have this swelling problem? Even with low sodium soups? Should I just make my own? seems such a waste as I can eat/drink only 1 or 2 oz at a sitting. The Experience was quite different. I really liked the care I recieved. If you choose Dr. Almanza. I would suggest the option of the hotel. I did not care for the rec…

Hi All On the 20th OCT I had my op - revision from band to sleeve. When I arrived at the hospital I was really nervous, my blood pressure was thru the roof. The staff were great, calmed me down. I was scheduled to go in at 200pm and ended up going in only at about 7pm. Everything went as expected - thanks to this form.:001_smile: I am feeling NOT hungry - which is very weird, because I have not eaten for 3 days - starting now on the liquids - had the IV up until yesterday. There was one little thing though that I did want to mention. When I was in the recovery room right after the op, I was in a hell of a lot of pain. I didn't quite expect that. The nur…

Hi everyone. This is my 5th day into lapband surgery. Today I have experienced pain in my left side underneath my rib cage. It only hurts when I walk around or breath in heavy. Kind of like a side stitch. I first thought that it was maybe because I drank to much water and that it would go away, but it's still here after 4 hours. Should I be concerened? Has this happened to anyone else?

For lunch I had a egg salad sandwhich (toasted) from eddington's today with a half cup of soup. I think I am doing better then what I was. Tonight I will have probably just drink water and crystal light.

Yesterday I went to Boston Market and got a 1/4 white chicken and some mashed potatoes for dinner. (Had a coupon and it cost me $1.00.) They wouldn't let me substitute anything else for the potatoes, I really wanted some broccolli. Anyway, I love the skin on their chicken. I know it isn't good for you but I had my surgery on 9/18, haven't had a fill yet and am STARVING! Well I chewed as well as I could and swallowed. That tiny piece of skin got caught and wouldn't go down or up. I tried to force a burp but nothing. I didn't have much pain but it wasn't comfortable either. I hate to vomit, but tried to force myself and that wouldn't work either. I finally took a walk a…

Not doing much when I am there, gas and small amounts of bm. I finally gave up and took Imodium but it has only provided limited relief. Should I be worried about this? Could it be the over abundance of artificial sweetener in the crystal light, sf jello etc? :confused1: I just want to sleep wahhhhhh I am literally pooped.

I'm going tomorrow for my first fill since my surgery 9/24/09 and I don't know what to expect. Does it hurt? Will I be sick afterward? and do you have to go back on your liquid diet after you get a fill? All they told me at my consultation is that they would do an ex ray and let me drink to make sure it went down. Other than that I don't know how it's done other than with a needle. I would appreciate any feedback, to kind of take the edge off.:cursing:

I'll be 3 weeks post surgery tomorrow and the gas pain in my left shoulder has mostly gone away (not making me cry anymore ). The problem is I am so gassy!!! It's embarrassing and I'm afraid to be out in public for long periods of time. I'm still on mushy food but it doesn't matter what I eat. Even after drinking Water, I start to feel bloated. Has anyone else been dealing with this and is there an end (no pun intended) in sight????

Hello LapBand friends! I am wondering if I am the only one that finds there are days that I can eat and eat and eat. I am very happy with the progress I am making, and most days seem to go just as the Dr. told me they should - eat a few bites, feel full, don't get hungry. Then there are days like today...very hungry, eat a few bites (as I normally would) but don't feel any restriction. What is the deal? Am I losing my mind? If this follows its usual pattern, I know that tomorrow will likely go back to "normal" but every once and a while (about once a month), look out! Hungry hippo! Does this happen to anyone else?

I was waiting for that full feeling but nothing. Is this normal and besides eating all those calories could I have done harm?

My Lap Band story has been a trying one over the past year. I got banded 10/13/08. I lost some weight initially, but then he had trouble accessing the port, which led to me getting fills under fluoro (I'm self pay and had to pay for all of this). Then, he realized my port was flipped. So, I got a port revision this past July. Then, I got my first fill and finally felt restriction. Since I was starting to get more hungry, I went in to get another fill yesterday. WELL, he couldn't access the port. He tried three needles and poked and prodded. I asked why he couldn't find it. He said he didn't know why. There was a lot of scar tissue, but he didn't know why he accessed it la…
