I got a phone call from my insurance company today, I’ve been approved! So happy! My surgery date is December 14th. Did anyone else get a call from a insurance case worker? She said she will be calling back to “go over my health history “. What can I expect?

I am scheduled to have surgery Dec. 6th. YAHOO!!! ....I think! LOL! Anyone else 2nd guessing themselves? I'm nervous about this huge lifestyle change. Anyone else worry they will lose weight, then gain it all back? I keep telling myself I don't want to take blood pressure & cholesterol meds for the rest of my life. And I don't want to get type 2 diabetes. Plus it will be a bonus to look better, too. But then I start thinking of all the food I'll be missing. Food really is an addiction!! Am I the only one who feels this way? Advice, please!! HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

My surgery is on December 28. Since I first met with my surgeon on 9/22, I was supposed to lose 1-2 lbs a week and I haven't quite been able to do it. I'm down about 7 lbs total (in those 9 weeks) and hoping to lose another 3 before my pre-op appointment one week from today, but I'm hungry all the damn time, struggling to lose, and nervous my surgeon is going to think I haven't lost enough weight to keep my 12/28 surgery date. Even though I'm completely dreading the liquid diet, I'm toying with the idea of doing it this week, just to give me a boost. I'm curious how much weight people lost BEFORE going on their liquid diet. If you didn't lose much, how did your surgeon re…

So I start my 10 day pre -op liquid diet on Sunday and I’m freaking out!! I’m hard on myself and scared I’m going to cheat. I tell myself it’s not a option! I have 3 doctors appointments next week and then on the 5th is my big day! I get my gastric bypass!! At my anniversary dinner tonite with my husband I sat there and the fear hit me. This is happening emotions are running wild, I keep asking myself am I making the right choice? I love food and it’s my comfort. I have to remind myself I’ve been so unhappy with myself for many years that it will be the best decision I’ve given myself. My one else in the last stretch and feeling this way?

So my surgery is Tuesday 11/28 I woke up sick yesterday....of course. No fever just horribly runny nose and sore throat. I'm taking vitamin C and drinking tons of fluid any other advice? I'll rest as much as possible but I work 12 hour night shifts right up to the morning of surgery. Any help appreciated. Also (this may be tmi for some) I'm chronically anemic and was supposed to start my period the 30th and I guess because it's my lucky day I started early, this morning. Anyone else have issues with this right before surgery and should I be concerned that my hemoglobin will be too low for surgery?

Hi. I’m new here. My surgery is scheduled for 12/4. I’m currently on my 2 week pre op diet. Yesterday was really difficult but I made it through it. I did nibble on a small piece of ham though. Today I’m back on track with my 3 shakes per day. Are there any others having surgery on 12/4?

Hi All! I am restarting my real weight loss journey today on Black Friday, 11/24/2017. I am a newbie and had my first surgeon visit 11 months ago. I knew going into my appointment that my insurance would not cover the procedure. I was a good candidate and even scheduled a preliminary surgery date, but I had to cancel it (last week of December of 2016). I thought I could cover the surgery until the final price was given to me. I then thought I could get financing from a bank and/or appeal my insurance. Needless to say, both of these did not occur. My question is, what reputable companies offer financing? What are options for financing? Do any medical pr…

I cooked the whole dinner, I entertained, I got it all put away and the dishes are done. Whew! I'll confess outright...I nibbled a very very small amount of turkey. (probably less than half an ounce...just one little chunk) But other than that, I was a good doobie and stayed on my liquid diet. It was hell...but the day is winding down and it looks like I made it. Good grief! The smell of baking rolls and the pies....nearly did me in. But I resisted. 11 more days of this till surgery. One day at a time. That's about all I can handle. I know people do this...and they all seem to kinda act like it was no big deal. I am REALLY not enjoying this. …

My doc likes two weeks of liquid diet pre-surg. Like... 5 Premier Protien shakes, sugar free jello, reduced sodium broth, sugar free Popsicles....and one small serving of cream or wheat or yogurt per day. That's it. I feel like one of those sun eater people....who think they don't any other nutrients than the sun, and stand around naked in the desert. Last night, I was scheming in my diabolic mode....maybe I can sneak just a little turkey and salad on Thanksgiving...just TASTE the mashed potatoes and gravy....one little pecan off the pie. I won't let myself do this....but I enjoyed the fantasy. Enjoyed is the wrong word. I despaired and let myself have…

I’m so excited, my insurance approved in less than a day! My dream of being sleeved this year is coming true! I have a surgery date of December 20, a wonderful early Christmas present. I know for me it was important deductible wise to get surgery in this calendar year but I didn’t think it would happen.

I’m scheduled to have my surgery December 14. My doctor put me on a three week meal replacement shake diet and raw vegetables only if you feel yourself getting hungry. I’ve watched so many videos and read so many articles about the pre-op diet. Everything that I’ve seen or read was for a two week diet. I have not seen a three-week anywhere. The two week diets also included sugarfree Popsicles sugar-free Jell-O cream of anything soup. Mine doesn’t include any of that. I don’t know why my doctor is so strict with the diet. Would anyone happen to know why? Or has anyone else doctor put them on the same three week liquid only diet?

Wondered if anyone else had this test and what you thought of the results? It's standard with my bariatric medical group. I learned that my body fat percent was much less than it is on a standard height/weight chart due to my muscle mass. Pretty cool! I also learned that some of my previous diet efforts probably failed because I would tend to eat too few calories and get too hungry. MedGem analysis put my daily burned calorie load (with minimal exercise) at 2480 calories because I carry a lot of muscle. So I was told to target eating 1500 to 1900 calories per day. It seems like a ton of calories...but if I eat them, and pick quality foods with low gly…

Hello, all-- Well I'm Cellie and new here-- just two months in my pre-approval process. I have already seen a psychologist, who approved me for the surgery, and I've had my first consult visit with the surgeon. I'm so anxious about getting approval for the surgery. I have to show five years of problematic weight history, and each year is above 40 except for one. I have comorbidities, though, so I'm hoping to get approved anyway The surgeon told me I wouldn't be formally asking for approval until 2018. I have my first appointment with the nutritionist in two weeks. Were any of you else this nervous about approval? Anybody else have BCBS insurance? A…

So I fell on the last step into my garage yesterday and twisted my ankle and heard a loud POP. I called my mom and she took me to Urgent Care they did xrays and told me I have a 5th metatarsal avulsion break on my right foot. Great. They give me a boot and crutches. I already had an appointment scheduled today with my pcp for my pre op testing ( ekg , blood work) so I crutched it in and she still cleared me for surgery but insisted I see ortho doc tomorrow morning. I am hoping he says I will be fine for surgery. Right now I can't weight bear on my foot. Fingers crossed it all goes well tomorrow and I can still get my surgery in 2 weeks. I'm not calling my bariatric doctor…

My name is Crystal, I am 33 years old. I have had weight issues as long as I can remember. I lost a lot of weight (80 lbs) back when I was about 15 years old. I couldn't keep it off and gained it all back plus about 70 lbs over the years. My heaviest was 284 a few years ago while pregnant, and 274 recently, not pregnant. So here I am , having tried EVERYTHING!!! I lost maybe 25lbs a few years ago with my fitness pal, but very quickly gained it back, plus 5-10 lbs. I asked my nurse practitioner about bariatric surgery many years ago, and she said she would not recommend it due to the complications associated with it. Now she is finally seeing that no matter what I try, I j…

After six months of appointments and jumping through hoops...I had exactly one thing left to do... My upper GI, the Xray with the barium swallow. Since I don't have any symptoms of GERD, etc...I figured it would be pretty easy. The test is pretty nasty. You drink plaster of Paris, essentially, and roll around back and forth like a trained circus dog while they take x-rays...but it's tolerable. What was less tolerable was being ready to leave on a mini vacation...and having the office call and tell me my results were abnormal. "You need to see a gastroenterologist for an upper endoscopy to see what's going on." Great. So, I'm thinking all s…

So I'm having a really bad patient care experience with Penn Medicine's program and it has lead me to lose complete confidence in my surgeon, Dr. Gary Korus. His staff have been unfriendly, dismissive, and act put out when I have legitimate questions and am confused. If you are considering Penn Medicine to have your surgery done, I would reconsider. The whole program has been less than professional, almost from the beginning. I am lucky in that I found Christiana Care in Delaware and they're more than happy to let me transfer in and I don't have to wait for fscking months on end - I've got an appointment on Thursday, November 30th.

My surgery date is Dec 6th. I am so very excited but nervous about only this... I had a radical full hysterectomy 10yrs ago at the age of 30. At that point I had lost 70lbs but gained it all back plus due to my hysterectomy and complications. Since that point I have struggled with my weight. Gaining and losing the same 15-20 but never getting bigger than that and not getting smaller. So my question is has anyone else had a similar struggle then had the sleeve and lost the weight?
