Everyone including my Dr. ( Ahmad, Port Jeff NY ) tells me my body is just adusting but it is so scary...any feedback?

Hi I have been bouncing around on here to figure some of this stuff out! As for now I have not quite gotten what a "fill" is! I must be missing it! I have been looking and reading some much on here! I had the RYN bypass 6 yrs ago and I only wish that this kind of things would have been available! you all are sooo connected! It is truely inspiring to me to read and learn! It seems like a larger familly has formed and I think that is awesome! Can some one help me to have a total understanding of this procedure? I understand the banding but thelinks I have been on do not seem to go into great detail ! Thanks Vicki :clap2:

Hey all ..... it's been two weeks since my surgery, and I've developed a pain in my upper left back area (kind of like shoulder blade area). It felt like the pain I had shortly before my gallbladder was removed. Could this mean the band flipped? Or what do you think ? I am also going to check with my doctor but everybody here is always so helpful. Thanks !

I went out of town for a few days and ended up sick. My phenegren is no where to be found. I have been heaving and am terribly sore. Did not eat anything today and could barely tolerate chewable tums. Drank my sons anti nausea medicine (OTC) and that helps for a bit, but not totally. What do you do when you get sick? I used to take Alka Selzer, but don't know if that is ok with the band. Oh BTW... Gumbo hates me.

Hi all, I have been lurking here for months. I have gone through the pre-screening, psych, and u/s for surgery and meet with the surgeon to get my date tomorrow. Were any of you not 100% sure you wanted this? I am doing WW right now for the billionth time to try to get myself healthier before I go under and now I am thinking, can I do this on my own? I don't know why this would be any different since i can usually lose 40 of my 100 excess pounds and then gain it back. It is easy to be motivated in the beginning. I am just thinking I cannot waste another year of my life yo-yo dieting. I have to do this once and for all and the band may bethe only way I will suc…

I've had a surgeon visit and am working my way through the preliminary stuff. This hasn't been submitted to insurance yet. Had an endoscopy study last friday and got a green light.....Had a nuclear treadmill on monday....gasp gasp and got a green light there....have my psych eval friday......then they will submit....I am starting to feel hopeful.. The truth is more recently I had even given up on trying to diet......not that I was ever real successful. It had all just felt kind of discouraging.....Now I feel like this may be a real chance. I quit smoking 15 years ago (which is when the weight really started moving up) and that seemed easy compared to food because it w…

I finally have an appointment with Dr. David Provost in Dallas on January 4th of next year. I have no idea what to expect when I have my consultation. Has anyone used him before? I know he has a nutritionist in his office, but I don't have a clue what to expect. All I know is that I'm SOOOO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hate that I can't get it done before the end of the year, but what a way to start the new year! :clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2:

Ok I've not ever had any kind of surgery and have heard many scary tales lol. But one main question on my brain laugh if you want, but do you have to wear a cathater or casater I don't like the sound of how that is used and really would like to avoid this and in my mind don't see the need of having one for such a short surgery... I mean I don't pee the bed so I shouldn't pee while in such a short surgery. Just wondering if anyone woke up with a bag hooked to them??:notagree

Hi everyone, I had my surgery last week on the 24th, and finally feel normal (aside from the itching!) I've been eating (drinking) Miso Soup, tomato soup, broths, Water, diet iced tea, Protein drink, and cottage cheese (just because i felt the need to have something "solid" once per day). However, the past two days I've been feeling REALLY hungry at various points during the day, so then I panic that the band slipped or something. Did anyone else feel like that a week or so out from their surgery? Next week, I guess i'm supposed to enter the more solid/puree'd stuff, and think that might help with the hunger, but I don't know what's normal or not. Any …

I'm researching Lap Band surgery for weight loss. I'm 5'3 and my weight has hovered around 210 for a couple of years. I've tried every diet and either lose weight and gain it all back, or I don't lose any weight. My understanding of how Lap Band works is that if makes you feel full sooner. My fear is that I eat even when I'm full and I'm afraid this won't work for me. Any thoughts or recommendations?

Hello from Texas, I have a question. I am a newbie here. My surgery is going to be on November 15th :biggrin1: My doctor said I have to be on a liquid diet for 2 weeks prior to the surgery but others have said it varies from Dr. to Dr. Were you on liquids for 2 weeks and what did you drink to keep yourself feeling satisfied. I'm concerned because I am hypoglycemic :help: My doctor is in Arlington, Texas...his name is Dr. Waechter Leslie

I have a question for you bandsters who have been banded for a while now and eating "normally". I put normal in quotes because I know everyones normal will be different. I am only 1 week banded and wondering what I can expect to be eating say, 6 months, 1 year down the road. Please give me some insight as to what a regular day of meals is like for you. I would so appreciate the feedback. I am still tryijng to wrap my brain around this whole new way of eating and living. Thanks again and continued success to all and strength to all who need it. I have been to the initial seminar and many questions were answered there. I wanted to ask here about those who have had this surgery with regard to satiety (feeling full). I have done many things to try and loose weight but the hardest has always been eating less. The ONLY time I ever really felt like a normal person was when I was on Fen-Phen. I could eat half a normal meal then push away without any desire or cravings later on. It was the only program that worked for me and I would have continued if it had not been taken off the market. In the seminar the doctor indicated that one of the "magic" parts of this procedure is that satiety is reached quickly. Can…

I am scheduled for surgery on November 20. I am on a special drink called Myocel. All I can find out is that it is a drink that my doctor sells and they hold the rights to the drink. It is a hight protien shake. I am to drink it 2-3 times a day and eat two 4-8 oz meals a day. My problem is that the day I went in for my first appointment I was scheduled for surgery on November 27. They called back and had moved my surgery to the 20th. That date will give me the week of Thanksgiving to recover using less sick time at work. Now I am very excited about having the surgery, but I really wanted to have one last meal of real Mexican food. The way it has worked out I had t…

Hi, I was banded on the 25th October, everything has been fine. Except yesterday I think I ate more than I should have done. I had a really tough day emotionally not sure why - perhaps a come down from the op. I have a habit of delayed reaction. What is concerning me now is that when I got up this morning I got this searing pain, a bit like sheet lightning over my scars from the op and internally. It is only when I stand up, although even sitting now there is a dull ache. How do you know if your band has slipped? Would it cause that kind of pain? I really hope I haven't screwed things up!

Hi Everyone, I am 5'7 and 265 lbs. I have decided that it is time to get weight loss surgery. I have young children to take care of and can not afford the recovery time or health risks that go along with a bypass. I want to be banded. My nutritionist says that because I snack often and eat a high carb diet that the band will not work well for me :cry , says the band won't help me change those habits. I don't know what to do because obviously, if I had the long term will power to change my eating habits myself then I wouldn't need surgery. I'm confused. Any post-surgical band patients that were high-carb snackers here who wouldn't mind sharing your experience? Thanks.

Hi, my name is Christina. I was banded the other day, Thurs Nov 2. Today is my 1st full day at home. I woke this morning and my stomache was growling? I think, not sure what the sound was. It has been doing it all day off and on. It doesn't hurt. I am on a jello, broth, h20 diet till Wed when I see my Doc and the nutritionist for the next step. I am a little confused on how much I should drink at once? This usually helps the noise. Any suggestions welcomed. Thanks

Can anyone tell me what he does pre-op. Any blood work or tests. What pre-op diet he recommends etc. Anything you can tell so I have an idea what to expect would be greatly appreciated. :noidea: Thanks
