I had my surgery 2 weeks ago last Monday. No problems everything went great. Last night I ate and I was so full and uncomfortable. It still hasn't gone away. I couldn't sleep at all. I tried to eat some oatmeal this morning and just couldn't. What did I do and how do i fix it? Debbie

I had surgery a week and a half ago. I am still on my post op diets and I am doing well. The problem is that my first fill is a month away. I am going to be starving for a month! I am so sick of being hungry. I was on a liquid diet the 2 weeks before my surgery too, so I am really going crazy. I know I am being a baby. Please, I need some encouraging words. :help:

hello all! I am considering the band- in the middle of all the appointments. But after reading how everyone is doing post op I am scared to death! At any rate, did your doctors all require a gall bladder ultra sound? My doctor did and it seems my test came back with some irregularities on my liver and a kidney...I now have to go for an abdominal CT scan...I'm a little scared...3 kids, a hubby and all...Just wondering if maybe this has happened to anyone else. They all said my liver is swollen...I know this is common with us full figure gals...thanks for your thoughts!
Les

  4. I was just curious.....what are the supplements like and how far in advance are you supposed to start using them? I am having the hardest time getting the staff at Dr. Collier's office to answer questions. I have been approved by my insurance co. and they have spoken to my Dr's office, so they know I am approved. But I still keep getting treated like a stranger!

  5.

Hi All,

I'm looking for patients of the Munson Medical Center's Bariatric Program. How did you like the program? How long did it take you to go through it?? How much did the surgery cost? Cost of fills? Is it easy to schedule appointments around your schedule or do they give you a time and no choice? I have insurance but I'm just in the begining stages of paperwork and am still responsible for paying 20% etc... so it's good to know how much to save and budget for future fills and appointments etc...

Thanks for taking the time to answer - I appreciate it.

Misty

Hi all, I am having my surgery on August 2nd at TLBC with Dr. Yau. I am concerned about a few things I have read on this site, and am wondering if anyone could tell me about their experience with this doctor/clinic. I was not overly impressed with the call from the nurse, but am hoping the rest of the experience will be more positive! I am also scared to death that I will be unable to keep to the pre-op diet, since I don't eat cottage cheese and they only option the nurse gave me was yogurt. I love yogurt, but nothing but yogurt for 14 days...........if I could do that, wouldn't I already be thin?!? Looking for hope....hoping I am doing the right thing....please advis…

For those who have been banded, when you are hungry and get to eat, how do you feel with the small portions of food that are allowed? I mean, I eat now whether I am hungry or not and I am worried that I won't know when to stop with the band. Now, I consider having that "stuffed" feeling as being "full". This is a major concern for me. I was just wondering.

  12. Hi, I'm 3 weeks post op and doing great, ate to much egg the other day and felt like a I had a stitch :guess (like, you get from to much exercise) in my tummy area for while but later on felt great. 2 days later went to bed and when I got up i felt like I had a stitch sentation near my tummy button area left hand side near one of my incision sites. It's not very painful but I can most certianly feel it, not so much when I'm still just when I move. I'm visiting relatives in the UK and now I'm terrified I've slipped, pulled or broken the whole dam thing :whoo:. Has anyone else experience this sensation? If so what was it? did it go away? Anyone have any comments to help me to get them to understand where I am and how this is different?

Aloha All :help: This kind of a guy question but any advise male or female would be helpfull. My surgery is set for July 11, in Honolulu with Dr. Fowler. And my question is what to wear to fly home? I live on Kauai and I just don't know how sore I will/might be and if regular shorts would work or maybe something like sweat pants or gym shorts? Nex the gym shorts my G's would hang out (you'll only understand the G's thing if your a Mormon). I just don't want to fly home using a Lava-Lava (wrap) or a hospital gown with all my stuff showing. Please let me know what your thinking. Mahalo BWD

  17. Hey everyone, I was born with a genetic heart condition called Long QT Syndrome, which has been fatal to other young, healthy women in my family. I take medication for it to prevent an attack, and I have since I was 8 years old... I know taking pills can be a problem after the procedure, and I wondered if anyone else has any personal experience with what they did with their medications after the band? The doctor that spoke with us at the seminar this morning said that crushing the pills is sometimes okay depending on the situation... any feedback???

  20. Started by KBates,

I was banded on June 28 and since have lost 27.5 pounds. While I know (or think) that a lot of that is probably water weight, my surgeon said that it's still a lot to lose in just a week. And while I'm elated by the idea that I'm already 1/5 of the way to my goal weight, I'm afraid that if this continues (obviously not at 30 pounds a week, but at a rate higher than 2-3 pounds a week) I'll be left with pounds of sagging skin. I'm only 18, and from what I've read, this will help when it comes to my skin returning to its original tightness(?), but I was wondering if anyone had any other tips or advice on avoiding this. Also, any info (personal experienceS) at all on loose sk…

  25. I had a barbeque at my house yesterday and my family and friends were eating, drinking, dancing and having a great time. My band and I did great, we didn't indulge in all the food or drinks. I am so proud of myself. I found myself at 10 pm contemplating eating or drinking some water and since I didn't know how much longer I would be up for the night I decided to fill up on water. I think that was a smart decision I made considering in the past I would have gone for the late night meal. I didn't do good with my dinner because I basically didn't eat but I didn't over eat either I just made sure I kept myself hydrated. How was your day? Care to share?:whoo:

I had my surgery on May 24th and my first fill on June 25th. The problem is I can not eat I can only hold down about 3 cherries and a chicken wing a day. Is this normal? The Doc said about 2 weeks after the fill I will be able to eat more, but I am a little nervous that this kind of eating is just as dangerous as over eating. If anyone else is going through this or has went through this please let me know. Thank you

I am still in the pre-op stages of lapband. I have a question for all of you. I work in a VERY hot environment. The possibility of de-hydration is very real, especially during the summer months with the high temps of summer. I work 12 hour shifts, and am having trouble trying to figure out how to balance my meals with the very real necessity of making sure that I can get enough H2O in. I understand that drinking after meals for 1 1/2 hours is necessary to make sure Im not eating too much, but on the other hand, how do I make sure Im not getting de-hydrated? My meal times are not "scheduled", and if there is something to be done, I am expected to run and get it done. …

Well I read something yesterday that stuck in my mind and I want to try and live by since being banded. "every day is a choice. We are the ones that choose how our day is going to be. WE can make this band work. We could also make it fail but WE have to understand that it is OUR choice! No one forced food down our throats, no one told us to lie around and not exercise. They were all our choices! So every morning WE have to look in the mirror and start out WL journey on a positive note and set our day off right!!!:clap2::clap2: I hope everyone has a GREAT day tom…
