Teresa (bounser),

So glad you are feeling better! That must have been a scary experience. Here is the crazy thing - we were banded on the same day by the same surgeon :willy_nilly: What time was yours? Mine was scheduled for 8:45 but ended up being around 10:15 if I'm remembering correctly. What if we were right after one another....

Yes sara I was schedule for 7:15 it my fault you went in late I didn't want to come out of it:lol:I'm sorry. How are you feeling?

We had similar experiences, I woke up in ICU too! My BFF said, "Leave it up to you (me) to go in for a simple procedure and have to be admitted to ICU"... hey, I'm "special"... what can I say... :willy_nilly:

Hello all, just thought I'd update everyone. I was banded 12/4 and it was a very smooth going experience. Having my husband banded too has REALLY helped me. I lost 15 lbs in the first week. I was on no restrictions prior to the surgery except for liquids only the day prior to surgery. My first 7 days was liquids only, 3 Protein shakes per day and one snack (broth, popsicle, Jello, etc.) I started STARVIN around the 4th day post-op and called my surgeon/dietician to see if I could have additional Snacks, etc. She allowed me to come off my liquid diet one day early and begin my mushies/soft foods. My soft foods include fish and very moist/soft chicken. So, I've been eating any cooked veggie and soft meat since last Thursday night. I've only gained 1 lb since. So, I'm still down about 14lbs. I also take my baby to the mall almost daily to get my walking in (it's too cold outside). The shoppers are a hindrance though :-) It's amazing some of the diet restrictions I see post-op, like 2-3 weeks of liquids, I probably would die! LOL By day 4 of the Protein Shakes I felt like puking thinking about one of them...ewwww.

But, all is well and the sooner I can pick up my walking, the sooner I'll keep the weight off and even lose more now that I am on soft foods. I won't get my first fill until 1/4 so I'll have to let you all know how that goes. My husband doesn't have that much restriction from his first fill and has decided to wait until his 2nd to make a fuss. BUT, because he's so disciplined, he's still losing at least 4 lbs per week. Men....haha

So, I wish everyone who has yet to be banded Godspeed and those who are post-op let's continue to support each other. It's so vital!

Marcia

Well, if I haven't mentioned it I'm two sleeps away from my band. On Wed. I'll be banded. I will continue to update you regularly...lol.

My doc says after 3 p.m. tomorrow to just have a light dinner...ie...soup and nothing after midnight. I have been on two shakes a day and then dinner. So, does that mean all liquids tomorrow? Or should I have a shake in the morning, lunch (like a sandwich) and then broth? Can the Soup have something in it...like chicken and noodles? I'm confused and don't want to end up not being able to sleep from hunger pains. If that's what I'm supposed to do, then I'll do it but need some guidance. What did ya'll do? Those out there banded...or those with similar instructions to mine for the day before surgery??? Inquiring minds would like to know....:confused::blush:

I'm in bandland.

I had a great experience. My surgery was moved up by 2 hours for surgery on Tuesday. It went well, I opted to stay overnight which I am so glad I did. I was given meds to reduce swelling, apin and thin blood. Slepts a good 7 hours in 2 hour increaments and walk 2 hours in 20 minute increaments.

Going to pee was hard, I sat there for an hour and no go, they told me they were calling the surgeon to get the okay for a cath and that's the threat I needed! pee produced.

It got easier over time but man it was hard.

2 things-

1. When you go to pee turn on the Water in the sink it really helps.

2. Get some of the antichaffing lotion made by monistat to rub on your inner thighs. You will be doing some walking in that sexy hospital gown and your legs rub!.

Good luck to everyone coming up.

Hugs-

t

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
