You and I think alike... I held steady at 151 for awhile, but last two days I have been at 152. Heck with it - ticker is staying at 151 - claimed it already!!! haha

And yes I would move that ticker, it's been there and it's a new low. So now you hold on for dear life and shoot for the next pound down,

At least that's what I do :P

Hi guys - hope everyone is having a good day so far - rough week around here but the eating has been pretty okay for the most part - I think I have had only one fast day that was at 500 or just under, soo easy to have a tiny nibble and next thing its 600 - 800 - 1400 lol.

Having some computer issues which is mildly irritating, everyone in the house is sick with a head cold including myself and 2/3 of my students- hubby was in the ER last night for another bout of of kidney stone pain that came on suddenly last night out of nowhere, our main family car went in the shop for repairs - this is the same car we were to be driving to SoCal next week for my birthday trip - looks like we might be renting a car - ahh well maybe Disneyland will make us all forget our troubles -that's the idea right?

Glad to hear so many folks returning to beloved creative pursuits - I encourage people in the arts all day long (professor of fine arts here ;)

Eating at 1200 today - fasting tomorrow..Oh and I got a fit bit and aria scale this past week - so far I am really liking it. Have WL support group this weekend at the hospital - hopefully will get to see other vst members there (Fiddleman and his wife Phoenix79, ans Stef attend) hanging in there and have yet to see the scale move below that newest low of 168

Hi guys! Ok first yesteday I was at 547 I had a bit of a run in with some homemade guacamole and chips :P I've not done anything creative in a while... That might be what's missing! (That and exercise) It's nice to see some new faces that participate!! Brown, I dont get nausea in the mornings but I read here all the time about people getting it when going on a restrictive diet. Maybe? That and acid?

Chimera,

Hope your husband is feeling better soon..

Coops, that is a bloody fantastic drawing (in my best brit-speak accent!) and I should know I was an art major in college! LOVE that you did this instead of eating...just LOVE it. And yep the 159 is your new low...GO FOR IT GIRL!

LV sorry you were down, glad it's fleeting...

Brown I don't have am nausea, I would be looking into that further. On a similar note, my hubby last thurs...we went to a meeting at school that is once a month and it's always a potluck. Someone picks a theme and we all supply necessary items. It was Italian which is usually not very sleeve friendly, so I brought crockpot meatballs. OMG, hubby waited till the "end" of the line and they were GONE! So he had some type of Pasta with sausage, ate it, immediately felt ill, and went home to throw up. It was crazy, he hasn't thrown up in well over 2 years (his sleeve was March 2011) and he said as soon as he ate it, he instantly felt icky. So other people ate that too (I didn't) and they were fine? Go figure. I figured he had a touch of flu but he felt better the next day so I guess the moral of the story is sometimes things just don't agree and how and when they present is tricky to tell. I don't like feeling nauseated so I avoid at ALL costs. ALL! lol...

Chimear, OMG, so sorry about YOUR hubby. Sheesh seems to be going around here with sick husbands...first Cheri's husband falling, then Cathy's hubby and now yours (oh and mine who didn't tolerate someone's potluck dish...hehe.) Anyway, sorry about the car trouble too, NOTHING is more frustrating. Glad you have a vacation waiting for you...sounds like you will need it!

Yesterday I didn't fast because Tues and THurs. are my double workout days when I do weight lifting for an hour and then head directly to spin and drench myself in blood sweat and tears. Yesterday I came home from 2 hours at the gym, showered and fell alseep for a GOOD SOLID HOUR. I never do that. I'm a sore puppy today. And my weight is still up by 2+lbs which I think is due to the weight lifting, but gosh darn it...I'm annoyed by it.

So today is a fasting day...hoping to just coast today. I have some freelance work to do and homework to do, so I'm happily skipping my Wed. gym class. I need to heal and rest from yesterdays monster workout. B)

thanks for all the lovely comments about my pic! When I get in the zone, I just love to draw! It really does help get rid of stress and puts me in a really calm place! When I show my pictures to the kids in school, they all ask me why I don't teach art! Lol! They don't get it, that it is a great hobby!

Non fast day today and I've kept it pretty good - been to Curves and enjoyed it once I was there. No fast for me tomo as I have a training day in Cardiff and they always do good food! I will fast again Friday instead. That is the beauty of this 5:2, very versatile!

Sorry to hear about some of your problems, life sure is for living - warts and all!

And GT, I would love to meet one day - imagine, we could just take one suitcase and share...! x

LOVE the drawing, coops! And the 159!! Well done you. :)

I've done two fast days this week, post-hols -- 599 on Monday and 630 today. I'll take it!! I am shooting still for the 500-700 range on fasting days to see if that avoids the problems I was having. And let's also see if I ever lose any weight LOL! Looking at my stats over time, I've been in the 70-ish range for over a year now...

I finished fast day yesterday at right around 500 give or take 5 or so. I so love this way of managing eating.

I was thinking this morning after reading a thread where everyone shared their secret "sins" so to speak. I'm all for being honesty but what struck me is that so many of these are just starting their VSG journey or only a few months out. After being on this journey for almost 3 1/2 years, I'm really glad I stuck to basics and didn't do too much "sinning" so that I reached goal and then when I DID lose my way on junk for a few months I KNEW what was required and I also had the wherewithal to know I was determined to remain thin!

All of you, my lovelies, KNOW that this is hard work! We have fought for every pound lost during this 5:2 journey together. I get so tickled at friends who say, "Oh, I didn't know you could gain weight? Why are you zealous about it?" Or "but you took the EASY way!" :((. Easy! I put any of us up against what others who lose weight the "hard" way (smile) do to lose, get healthier, or reach their respective goals!

THERE! I've said it and I feel better! LOL. Have a great day! Be strong. As my hero, Lance Armstrong, says LIVESTRONG! Heehee. Couldn't resist that. He's NOT my hero. Kinda feel bad for him and yes, I know I shouldn't but I always go for the underdog. :)

Here! Here! Georgia!

I guess that's where my distress was coming from on that thread (and several others) some are only a few WEEKS out too :(

There is so much to learn on this journey (HATE that word) and there is something to be said about taking advantage of those first months to change mindsets and take advantage of that awesome weight loss window..... Sigh how I miss those days :D

And I worried about things like "what if I lose to much weight"

Ok who am I kidding? That's one worry I NEVER had :P

Oh and guess what??

The scale told me 152 today!

I'm kinda excited but honestly I've not been feeling well the last couple of days... Just kinda been under the weather and now have a dull backache.

But 152 :)

It looks like my "fast" day has turned into a "slow" day... I think I started vacation a day early! Well, not to bad for a normal day, and will dance tonight, so I think it will be ok.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
