Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum

Thanks Lapdancer!

I feel so good acting like such a little kid... I have had 2 flavor ice otter pops,, 2 really small bowls of Jello and in a bit I think that I will go for a milk shake... I even have my daughters froggie slippers on... LOL

Haven't watched cartoons yet.. but thats okay. I only used to like the Smurfs and Elmer Fudd and I dont know if they still play those. It is easier when I dont try to talk... but in my house.. that is almost impossible... but after something cold it is easier.

I just hope that what happened to me doesn't make any one else more nervous. It just happened to be one of those wierd things.

Bright side.. tonight I am going to soak again in my tub.. I love bubble baths.. so.. I am going to treat myself..

You will be very impressed with the facility in Parker.. I know I am!

I had it done in Parker. What a really nice facility! It's failrly new and they have a player baby grand playing as you go in the doors. Very caring, helpful, and sincere people. I only have hopitals from Phoenix to compare to, but compared to them this place was like a resort.

sunnysea~ I set up my weight ticker thingy, but I don't know what to do to have it show up with my post/signature. How do I get it over here?

Woofay, It took me along time to understand how to do this too. First you open a second web page, one with tickerfactory on it and the other with lapbandtalk. Go to user CP at the the left upper corner of this site and go into edit your signature. Then right click on your ticker and press copy, then click on your ticker and drag it down to lapbandtalk, the screen with your box to edit will pop up and just drag the circle into the box and let go. Your ticker should be there now, then lower down on that page just press save signature. I hope this helps you, I have never been trained how to work all this little extra stuff that can be done on a computer, just play around with it alittle. Other people have helped me on line here. Good luck, Sunnysea

Thanks, sunnysea... I think that I did it. I always managed to get it made, just not over onto my signature.

Tater~If you heard someone crying (other than yourself) that was probably me! I got quite panicky right at the end there until they put the sedative in the IV. (the nurses called it liquid courage, ha ha) I wanted my Mom too, even though I knew she was at home with my boys. I think that I saw your family though...I think. Was going to say hi to them, but they took me back so fast (outta the waiting room). I'm glad your feeling better...

Hey all!

I am a little better then yesterday. Odd.. even though they did not due the surgery.. I am so sleepy. I am up for a few hours then sleep for a few.. I cant tell if it is from all the chemicals that still might be tring to work threw my system or if it is also the trauma from my mouth and throat. The mornings are the hardest... but as soon as I have a popsickle or something cold it helps iwth the pain and the swelling.

I will call tomorrow and see when i can get in for surgery.. I will let ya'll know when I find out.

Thanks everyone for your prayers!!!! I appricate them so much!

Oh man. I'm sweating driplets, not bullets. I'm hanging on to every word I read. Crazy.

My suitcase is packed. My favorite toiletries. Just going through my checklist now.

Leaving for the airport at 3 AM.

Tingles.

I've been fasting since yesterday afternoon. But that's just me. I've had four abdominal surgeries/procedures and the easiest one I came through was when I had fasted for two days. Clean pipes.

okay, I'm two days past banding....and I'm still sore. But getting better. Here's a situation I've run into. I never realized, on a regular basis, how much nibbling and tasting I do while I am fixing my boys their dinner. This is going to take some real concentration on my part for the next three liquid weeks. I thought that I would feel bad enough the first few weeks to not even think of eating solid food...wrong. (I'm a true fatty through and through! HA!:biggrin1: ) Also this tape over my incisions is really really itchy. Anyone else get itchy?

Lap Dancer and DynamoMini...tomorrow is the day! I'm so excited for you! Hope that you don't get as silly as I did right before. They are really considerate and caring people.

Then Mal, Spot, and Tater...woo hoo! We'll have to go to a support group to meet each other and Drewslou, Sunnysea and anyone else I may have forgotten that lives in the area. (pain meds can make you denser than normal!)

I still can't believe I actually did it. And I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have without everyone on this thread! THANKS AGAIN!!:cheer2:

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
