And some serious pussification of people on here who are too lazy to do what they're supposed to so they try to find loop holes to suite their personal net gain...yup. Say what you want, I really couldn't care less, I just think it's funny people eating taco bell and other **** and think they're going to be successful by fueling their body with junk, worthless food that does absolutely nothing for the body. I wasn't pissed, it was more sarcasm, along with 'wtf are you thinking' type moment. I watch out for numero uno, and give my opinion freely, but ya ain't gotta take it missy.

Sorry it's so long!! yes, I hope we hear from the veterans. .I have spoken to many of them, as I just wasn't buying into the golden rules and was able to tolerate so many things. I had a real spicy meal yesterday and no gas or anything. Sorry it was soo long, a lot to say, lol... I lost 26 pounds from the the one week liquid preop to today, which is two weeks post op, for a total of 26 pounds in 21 days. I am HAPPY to not obsess on each pound and slow down the weight loss to get onto a lifestyle diet that works.. My nutritionist (and mom), said that was music to their ears.

I have a question because my Surgeons Preop diet is midnight before my surgery Im positive he wouldnt risk my liver

Pussification....heh. I wonder if that is in the urban dictionary.:)

1. Pussification

pussification(noun): the state in which a society becomes less and less tough. This noun's originator is the famous comedian George Carlin.

"We are undergoing a pussification of our entire society."

2. Pussification

The state of mind that a man undergoes when he has lost any control that he ever had in a relationship with a woman. The point in a relationship where a man becomes his mates personal b***h. Once pussification takes over the man will spend every waking minute thinking of ways to please his mate.

"Hey Mike, wanna grab a beer after work?"

"Thanks guys, but I can't, I have to hurry home to give the cat a bath so that I'll have time to watch Seventh Heaven with the princess"

"Holy ****!! Mike!! You've got pussification. We need to get alcohol in you right away"

3. Pussification

Taken from a George Carlin bit, referring to the reversal of roles and attitudes specifically of the American male due to being overly "politically correct."

Using soft language and avoiding confrontation and critisizm has resulted in the complete pussification of the american youth, as manifested by "emo", and "cyberbullying"

emo pussification wuss sissy *****-whipped

4. Pussification

To become a *****, wus, coward, whimp etc.

We are witnesses to the mass pussification of males as a result of the fload of female hormones in our Water from the consumer use of the birth control pill.

Draft Dogers? That's pussification straight up!

I followed every rule pre and post-op and can't understand why people are/were so indisciplined that for a few weeks they couldn't be compliant. Isn't a lack of self control the reason we had surgery in the first place.

Hey, if someone wants to cheat that is on them. I chose not. I did not have surgery to see the disappointed look on the faces of my family because for a few months I couldn't control myself and ate the same things that made me morbidly obese.

I need to have healthy eating and a lifestyle become a habit before I sabotage myself. Will I have a little something unhealthy in the future maybe or maybe not. The sleeve as I have heard continuously is a tool to help us get on track, not something to be ignored and pushed to the side as we decide.

For all of those with no self control, think of it this way. Would you break and arm again after it has healed because you couldn't control yourself? I will not deprive myself of going our socially with friends or family, but I will make smart choices each time.

I have cooked things my family wanted like fried chicken and pork chops. I have made Cookies with my family after being sleeved. However, not once did I even take a bite. I have helped my wife in the bakery she owns, but did not sample like I did in the past.

Remember significant weight gain can be in the future of all who don't practice sound judgement and self control.

Melodymouse ... That I so impressive !! What were the rules you followed to get you where you are ?

1. Protein first

2. liquid second

3. Low fat, low sugar foods

4. Plenty of good carbs, fruits & veggies

5. Minimal simple carbs, grains & starches

6. Moderate exercise, something I could live with the rest of my life- walking, bicycling or just plain old keeping busy

And most important

7. Keeping a positive attitude and believing in myself!

You obviously were not a High Risk person for liver damage. Individual medical history is such a vital piece to this puzzle and why a "one size fits all" approach doesn't work.

Melodymouse ... That I so impressive !! What were the rules you followed to get you where you are ?

I reached goal, five lbs under actually.....in six months. My 'rules' were imposed by ME, not the doctor. I strictly followed the program after surgery, the first six weeks, liquids, full liquids, soft food etc. I know that I had all those staples in me and I did not want to risk doing something to cause a leak, I didn't want anything 'lodging' in the staples, whatever CAN happen, I wanted to try and avoid. I am never one to think it can't happen to me....I'm of the mind set "Why not me, I'm not special" LoL

That said, I had myself on a no nonsense diet, nothing sweet, at all, not one thing, for six months. Nothing carbonated, that was the only "RULE" the only "No No" I was given.

Now I'm at goal, I make decisions, choices. Everyone, us former fatties and naturally thin folks, we should all make choices every day forever. That helps us avoid gaining weight, helps us avoid heart disease. I. E. 85% lean hamburger makes a killer tasting hamburger, but meat that is 93% lean is a wiser choice and it is far from yucky!! It's just a wiser choice, that is across the board, for everyone. My husband has a stent, he did not have a heart attack, by the grace of God, but he had a 95% blockage. I learned more than I ever thought I'd need to know for his cardiac dietitian.

More rule I imposed on myself, others might call them rules, I call them my new normal. I weigh or measure my food, every day....when we eat at home. I log my food on line, all of this is fun for me. I do not exercise, so I knew I'd need to make changes I could live with, forever. This is not a diet, it is how I live, forever.

I can't give anyone a list of rules, all I can do is say what has worked for me for almost three years. It's my story and how I do things. I'm sure others would think I'm a nut, but that's ok.

Ok, I thought all of us, at least everyone that is overweight, has a 'fatty' liver and they have to move it to get to our tummy, and it's easier with a "lean, mean" liver!!! LoL Did I misunderstand??!!!

There's some really angry, anal-retentive folks on this forum.

Just an observation.

Why does this 'term' make my skin crawl? Ick!

The term derives from Freudian psychoanalysis

Although the term "anal retentive" survives in common usage, the concept, along with much of Freud's theories of psychoanalysis, is largely regarded as unscientific "pop-psychology" and therefore discredited by the majority of psychologists of the late 20th and early 21st centuries.[3] Chicago psychoanalyst Robert Galatzer-Levy speaks of how this theory of Freud is mostly a product of its time when indoor plumbing was new and less numerous per household, and families were large, causing "much more control of defecation than was necessary in a world of chamber pots and outhouses."[4]

If these qualities continue into later life, the person is said to be "anal-retentive". Conversely, those who reject anal-retentive characteristics are said to have "anal-expulsive" personality types.

I prefer to tell somebody or I'd just rather someone tell me I'm full of ****, call a spade a spade. That's what we do in Texas....well, maybe we just say "Bless your heart" ;)

Not all of us have one. I didn't, I was overweight but they said my liver was healthy looking when they went in.

You are not a nut. Good set of rules to follow. Mine are similar.

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
