How about going shooping for clothes and falling in love with a piece that they might not have in ur size or that u kno is not in ur size. Or how about running out of air while going up stair 2 or 3 floors. The looks people give u like if u not human or something. Having my relatives always reminding me how fat i am. Ive cryed over that.

I can't wait to actually buy clothes when I go shopping and not end up buying lipstick or a purse 'cause none of the clothes fit me or at least the ones I like according to my age!

I can't wait until I don't have to hide from people because the fear of the looks on their face. I can't wait until stretch material is not my material of choice. I can't wait to stop wearing jackets or sweaters to cover my big arms or the rolls on my back. I'm tired of having a dent on my side of the mattress... I just want to be normal and not make excuses for my size... November can't come quick enough!

Im rite there with u girl. November might b my month too.

I can't wait to be able to stop wearing my scrubs to work (they are optional) just because they are big an loose and elastic waisted!

I can't wait till I feel like people think my husband is lucky! He is thin and handsome!

Can't wait till he can pick me up! And lend me his jacket when I'm cold and don't have one.

Can't wait to wear clothes that reflect more of me.

Sooo many more things

Getting the "big" kayak or the "Budweiser" horse for horseback riding. Wanting to wear junior fashions (dresses). Getting past the "weight prejudice " at work or shame of a frumpy mom for my kids. Cant wait to put a bikini on for the first time in 28 years.

Taking full body pictures, retake belly dance lessons again without being the biggest one in the class, zipline, inner thighs not touching each other, feeling hip bones, returning to original hour glass body shape, start to do things again that I avoided due to my weight. Date again.

It may have been said, but that awkward dosey-doe around and inbetween other chairs and aisles because I might knock people over with my hips and thighs!

gelen's_change,

I don't even have a date yet, but the Doc told me that whenever I finish my Psych Eval, My EDG, and if I finish my last 2 group meetings that I am getting sleeved in November. My husband loves me at my current weight, but I think he says I look good just to make me feel good. I thank him, but I've been wearing this fat-suit for 4 years too long.... I hope you get yours in November too! :D

I can't wait to NOT have to... put off travel because I don't fit in airplane seats.

I can't wait to NOT have to... wait for other people to get out of the way on stairways and sidewalks, because I know both of us won't fit.

I can't wait to NOT have to... look around for a sturdy chair without arms.

I can't wait to NOT be the fattest person in the room where ever I go.

Ahhh, the mattress dent...I know it well. And the sweater or jacket with EVERY outfit.

dar1983,

Its funny to read about the things that many of us go through, but the sad reality is that these difficulties really hurt us. It feels good to actually laugh at myself instead of feeling sorry for myself.

Funny thing, I commute daily on buses, with narrow-ish center aisles. I dread walking up the aisle, because I have to either go straight up, and possible knock people with the hips/thighs, or try to go sidewinding up the aisle, in which case I might get them with the but/belly.

I also can't wait to not be the last person on the bus that someone is willing to sit next to, because I may take up some extra space. I usually sit on the inside and lean into the window, so rarely is there any overhang into the next space. This doesn't stop people from making the face and sitting elsewhere. I mean seriously, sometimes they choose to sit next to the regulars with BO, over me. When I see this, then I uncompact myself in the seat and just hang all over, so that they can't be comfy if they abandon the stinky seat (my way to be spiteful).

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
