OK LETS HAVE SOME FUN! I AM GOING TO BE WRITING A BOOK IN THE NEAR FUTURE ABOUT MY WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY, AND I WOULD LIKE SOME INPUT FROM MY FELLOW FRIENDS ON LBT. I WANT TO HAVE A CHAPTER THAT TELLS THE HUMOROUS SIDE OF THIS JOURNEY. SO LETS HAVE A GOOD LAUGH. IT MIGHT BE THAT ONLY US PEOPLE THAT ARE/OR HAVE BEEN HEAVY WILL EVEN "GET IT". BUT THAT OK. SO MAKE SURE TO GIVE US YOUR TWO CENTS. YOU KNOW IT'S TIME TO BE BANDED WHEN............... YOU PULL A MUSCLE, TRYING TO WIPE YOUR BUTT! WHEN YOU CAN'T FIT IN THE AMUSMENT PARK RIDES! WHEN YOU LOOSE THE BAR OF SOAP IN THE SHOWER. WHEN YOU CAN USE YOUR STOMACH AS A TV TRAY! WHEN YOU CANT CLIP THE SEAT B…

Recently I felt attacked by someone and this type of behavior in the past would have sent me spiraling down into a deep dark depression of binging and purging. I have elected to take the higher road and not let this behavior undermine what I have accomplished to date. I will say that this type of behavior is what I was so hoping to rid myself of. I see now that this will never be the case. I will just have to understand there are these types of people in the world. I can't change their behavior nor can I change the way they treat me. I CAN change the way I react to that behavior. I also choose to not participate in the communication interchange which makes…

All I have to say is that between my sleeping a lot due to antibiotics and a minor post-op infection and my being engaged in an online battle elsewhere, I'm feeling really left out. The next time all hell breaks loose, someone should call me. Thank you...and I'm going back to sleep now. Sue

I wanna start this thread on a positive note. You guys are like my sisters, brothers, family here. I always used to fight with my family. I also admitted when I might have went too far. I can't help it sometimes I just love a good scrapin! Comes from growing up in the country and also from raising 4 kids on your own. Had to fight for everything then. I still have that fight in me at times. I just have to know when to rein it in. To Marie, Betty and whoever else that took offense to my posts, I want to publicly apologize. I did play a part in taking the threads too far. I was in one of my "angry" moods and you guys took the brunt of that. I am truly sorry.…

Hey DeLarla, I'm still new to all of this.....been reading/posting for about a month or so. I'll be banded this Monday. I love reading your posts jammed packed with your quick wit. The reason I am writing is this: I'll be in Las Vegas attending a conference April 24-26. I remember reading that you live there, does anyone else? Thought maybe we could get together in my off time? I won't be able to attend the Big Bash y'all are planning....but would love to meet anyone that's close to the area.

Ok, I know that you guys get TONNES of snow over there, but we were thrilled to see a gorgeous white blanket of snow this morning here in Ireland! Well I was anyway! It was only two or three inches but we hardly ever get snow that stays on the ground - it looked so beautiful! I walked my son to school and it was such fun - even tho I ended up with my new suede boots all wet and actually fell on the way home (!!) - despite soggy boots, sore knees, wet jeans, I love it!!!! Sadly it's melting already but I took some pics..... (sorry to bore you Alex, I know you're sick of snow already! )

OK things have gotten just a little too serious on here today. I think it is time for some comic relief. I received an email today from a close friend of mine. They sent me this pic with the email. I looked at it and said "Holy cow how did you get a pic of me in a former life?" Come on now all your southern ladies out there, how many of you have actually done this? I confess I have. They work for something other than enjoyment. Have fun guys. This is all about lightening up the mood. If you are offended then don't go any further. If you are offended then I apologize. This is too funny.

Hi everyone. Today is 1 week since surgery. I feel fine except I'm still sore & a bit black & blue near my port incision. Has anyone experienced that? I've lost 20 lbs. Lost 6 lbs since surgury, 20lbs so far including the liquids I was on 2 weeks prior to surgury. I get my 1st fill 3/10/05.

I have to say I am very pleased with the way it turned out. Isn't it beautiful?? Aren't you guys jealous?? Come on over for a visit and we'll make up the bed in the bottom bedroom. It has a nice and airy feeling.

Please donate to prove my son innocent inclosed find a deposit slip so that they we may get a lawyer for my son. They have my phone number here at work and at home. Not to mention both e-mail addresses. I went on the family web site to see exactly what happend that they would need a lawyer and nothing was there. I do not think I need to call them and ask or should I just send money that I do not have?? I also checked the Phoenix Arizona newspaper and it is vauge on what happend but the son got arrested for a double homicide. Just don't know wh…

Do you have a nickname? How did you get your nickname (who named you etc) and do you get called by it still today? When I was just a small child, my Grandpa nicknamed me Doodlebug. He had a nickname for everyone of his Grandchildren. I hated it growing up, I actually never told anyone about it, and tried to keep everyone from calling me it. Then, when I moved to Texas, my Brother and his family all called me Doodle from day one. He almost made my business cards in the name Doodle! Now I actually like it! In fact my license plate on my Harley is BDoodle. I had to put the B (Betty) there because someone already had the specialty plate for Doodle.

So there I was, at the gym, at the end of a 35-minute workout on the elliptical, watching the minutes tick by and getting ready to be done. But then through my headphones I hear the one song absolutely guaranteed to get me crankin' up good: It's Raining Men, by The Weathergirls. I'm sure people thought I was a lunatic, because I was doing everything but singing my lungs out. So what song gets you going, no matter how drained you are?

I've had horrible pains in my lower right abdomen. It started as a light pinch a few weeks ago, but yesterday the pain was becoming unbearable. The kind of pain that takes your breath away. I made an OBGYN appointment for next week, but yesterday my friends freaked me out thinking it could be an ovarian cyst, an eptopic pregnancy or a gallbladder attack. The more I fretted, the worse the pain got. I ran to Urgent Care and had a pelvic exam. Diagnosis = GAS. What a dork. I had a glass of wine and farted so I'm fine now. Thought you'd all enjoy a good laugh.

Hi, I was banded by Dr. Lopez in April of 2003. I love Dr. Lopez and I love my band. I found out last month that I have erosion and my band is being removed March 4th. I'm devastated about the news. I've lost 70 lbs and feel great. Many on Spotlight Health told me to come here and speak with others that were banded by Dr. Lopez and have had the band removed. I live in Las Vegas, NV so at least the traveling is not hard. Would like any information that anyone has regarding erosion or their experience with Dr. Lopez. I've heard he is one of the best surgerons for this surgery. Thank you to anyone who can reply. Heidi

I have sorta been in a slump with weight loss lately. On a long long plateau which is normal all you newbies out there. Expect a plateaus from time to time they suck but know they do happen. Anyway, some of you know (DELARLA) that I have hired a personal trainer to come and help me tone certain areas. She has been coming to the house for about 3 weeks now. I didn't think it was working other than making my abs really sore. But I did my monthly measurements just now. Since I was banded here are my results: Breasts 50 pre - 43 TODAY = 7 inches lost Waist 48 pre - 40 TODAY = 8 inches lost Hips 54 pre - 49 TODAY = 5 inches lost Thighs 31 p…

My DH and I are headed to New Orelans for a few days of R&R, I want to do one of the swamp tours, any suggestions which tour company to use? Actually...I was invited to play in a slots tournament for Harrahs, I'm so excited. The Marketer for Harrahs thinks I'm a big slots player, $1.00 slots! Not me, she's got me confused with someone else, or it could be that $1.00 slot machine I left my card in just before we left for the airport the last time I was in Vegas. Anyhoo, free room for 4 nites and a chance to win $50,000.00, I'm outta here on Thursday, wish me luck.

As you all know my wife has a chronic illness. Though I work hard at getting the housework done sometimes people are nice enough to come in and help us. My wife has a friend who helps from time to time. Unfortunately this woman has hated me since Patty and I met seventeen years ago. They were roomies and best friends and I think Becky resents me for taking Patty away. Now, I never would even consider coming between them. Patty's free to have Becky or anyone else as a friend, Patty needs all the friends she can get. An example of the way Becky reacts to me: The first time we met was while I was dating Patty. Patty had invited me over to spend the evening, and to…

Please send me some positive energy my way please! in 4 hours I'll be taking my business statistics final from LAST semester. I couldn't take it last semester, because, well, I'd just spent a week in the hospital because I was having severe asthma problems. (yeah, this latest round started in November...) Anyway, please send me some positive energy and good thoughts for passing the final. Now I know why folks usually go to university when they are young... pulling an all nighter has been ... interesting... and highly cafinated!

Now that we are using our credit cards to buy new clothes and all I thought that this information would be helpful. This is probably the most realistic Scam I have read. I will not give anyone any personal information until I am given a phone number to contact to check on the need for them to have the information. But after reading the follwoing I'd have to admitt they may have gotten me on this one. We have to be so careful with our information. PLEASE READ AND PASS ON TO FRIENDS AND FAMILY By understanding how the VISA & MasterCard Telephone Credit Card Scam works, you'll be better prepared to protect yourself. Those con artists get more creativ…

I struggled with whom to tell about my hopeful up coming surgery. Even told a sister & than decided to tell her I decided no mnths later because of her back-handed support. Than today on the phone I was speaking w/my eldest sister. I wasn't going to say anyting & something inside me needed to share. To my surprise she was so supportive & happy for me it gave me goosebumps. She even has offered to take her vacation time to be with me during & after surgery. She lives out of state. I thought she might be supportive but never expected such overwelming positive reinforcement. Just goes to show you never know where your angels may be.

Heard an interesting piece on medial tourism on NPR radio. It seems that bandsters are not the only ones heading to third world countries to have elective procedures. The hospital profiled was one in Thailand which is 17 stories, state-of-the-art, luxurious, and staffed by well-trained physicians, many of whom are American board certified. They profiled a man who had no health insurance who went there for a knee operation and paid 20% of what it would have cost him here. And they talked to a woman who went for plastic surgery and paid $7,000 for a tummy tuck and breast lift. The piece did mention Mexico in passing, but nothing specific. Evidently this is such a big…

okay, they are now playing a commercial that is just wrong... They are selling some red box thing using a remake of Nena Haggen's punk/new wave classic 99 Luft Balloons (99 red balloons) sung all soft and sweet... It's just wrong! Wrong I tell you. My son came to me a few months back with a similar gripe. He goes roller skating every friday, and said that they wer playing doing a Rap version of "If you're happy and you know it" He said "it was wrong, just wrong!" And then he launched into several bars of "itsy bitsy spider" sung death metal... So, what do you find wrong?

Seen this on a bumper sticker and thought it was very cute... I maybe fat, but you are ugly and I can diet. Ours should say... I was fat, got the band and you are still ugly!!!!!

So Last night I was taking a bath (or trying to lol) and my husband goes in a says "Hunny, you know how you been wanting that ring?" I said, "Yeah????....." And He says, "Well your finally getting it, but... its going to be on your stomach and not your finger." HAHAHAHAHA Hes a smart one alright! That was a good one I thought anyway lol.

Does anybody else break out in fever and bad chills the night after surgery? This has happened after every surgery I've ever had. Not just the Band related ones, but any time I've gone through semi-major procedures. Last week, after port removal, I had a bad run of the shakes that were so violent I thought I might go into seizure. It only lasted a minute or so, but my chest gets to shaking so bad with chills that I wonder if anyone else did this. I always seem to sweat it out when I sleep that night and am better by morning, but when I get up to go potty in the middle of the night I have another episode - just can't get warm.

I am trying to get approved thru Humana; however, as of Jan 1st 2005 they excluded weight loss surgery. Does anyone have suggestions or ideas? I thought about switching to United Health Care PPO, but I am not sure I would get accepted with my height to weight ratio... I am female, 26 years old, 5' 5'' and 250lbs. I would appreciate any help!!!

What a strange question to ask on a weightloss board. But... I want a digital camera and have NO idea how to chose one. Like everything else, there is the good, better, best ones. Just wondering from you guys which one is the 'better' one - and the easiest to operate. ($200 price range) Oh, and Ive been shopping for one - MANY times - still nothing. Thats why Ive decided to come here and ask you. Thanks!

Whoever said "It's always darkest before the dawn" must have had February in mind. It's a bleak and dreary month, here in the frozen wasteland that is the Middle of the Mitten. February broods over a grey/white landscape, sending alternating waves of sub zero cold and just above freezing slush attacks. The February land is awash with dull sloppy half ice, and a stark and angry sky as grey as ashes, as grey as death. Here life waits, suspended, somewhere between true winter and a faint promise of spring. February is the angry month, short and sullen, when daylight is as rare as diamonds, and shines like gold. Here and now I find myself, at 306 pounds au natura…

I work in an EI office.Sometimes things get quite mixed up for some clients and it's our job to help them.I must say we are a great team and our office is one that is recognized for this.I over extended myself and will sometimes stay late or come in early without pay for a client. Our office is suppose to be a fast flow kinda thing but we will sometimes go over and beyond for some that need immediate financial help. One of my collegues is a drop dead gorgeous 42 year old lady. She looks 32 at the most is as friendly as i am,will work just as hard for clients as i do.HOWEVER,she is 5'8 and weight 120lbs (if that) She helped someone this week and today i accepted another fl…

Poor Penni, I was having trouble swallowing (FOOD, duh) but I was too sick to get to my puter so I asked Penni to post whether anyone else has problems swallowing. The big dork didn't even catch her typo so the title came out looking really bad, and she never finished writing the body of the post cuz she had to get me to the hospital. When she saw all the responses she was so, so embarrassed, but she ended up not deleting it because I was doing really bad and was really depressed, so she read the posts to me in my hospital bed, and I nearly died laughing. You guys are nuts! I can't believe you naughty girls! But thanks for getting me out of that funk... and yes, I wa…

It's like HELLO I live in the capital of Celebrity sightings. But this was pretty cool. My sweetie, John, and I were eating at a favorite restaurant of ours. We were talking and in the middle of conversation John gets this surprised look on his face. I ask what he is looking at. He says, "Rupert, from Survivor just sat down behind you." I said, "NO WAY!" So we finish our meal. Pay the check and then stop at their table and say HI. He is skinnier and still the same Rupert. Very polite and seemed embarrassed by the attention. We were quick to say our hello's and then let them get back to their dinners. It was really cool.
