Some things just define irony. Some of these things are happy, some are aggravating. I was synching my mp3 player (I’ve got the 15 gig Dell Juke box) when this happened: Band: Grateful Dead. Song: Friend of the Devil. Song track number? 666

It has come to my attention via the grapevine that some of you are asking "where does Penni get her money?" First, if you are that curious about another person's financial status wouldn't you ask that person? Second, if you ask me I will either tell you or not but. So have the common courtesy to ask me not my friends. It puts them in a tough position. They don't wanna betray my confidence and they don't wanna lie either. Finally, this seems to be a hot topic to some of you. If you really want to know then feel free to contact me via PM or email. I will either tell you or not. I think it is rude and tacky to ask that particular question of someon…

I wrote this as a pre-op back in Feb 2004. It goes out to all of you with love!! Sung to "American Pie" by Don Mclean New version by Dori Mc-LEAN A long long time ago We can still remember How a twinkie used to make us smile And we knew if we had our chance That we'd soon outgrow our pants And maybe we'd be happy for a while But the weight gain made us shiver with every step our chins would quiver Good news found on a website We weren't alone in the fight We all shared how we'd cried Over failed diets that we'd tried Then we were banded deep inside And one day, the hunger died So.. Bye, bye to the fat on our thighs We were heavy, like a C…

Just kidding. I got my surgery date today. I'm so excited. I feel very in control and looking forward to using my new tool in this crazy WL journey, May 3 will be tyhe first day of the rest of my life. OK it's really happening for me. The insurance hasn't been submitted and I am a bit nervous, but the office and MD said they have never had a case from my ins. that was denied. Its a PPO and approval take a day or two. So here I am celebrating and not worring about it like a good little girl.

My closet has shirts and dresses from size xl to 26. At this point in my weight loss, its time for me to clean it out... cant wear 3/4's of it! Now, Im NOT a sentimental person, but I am poor - and clothes are expensive! So in the back of my mind I keep thinking that I need to bag these things that are too big and store them - dont get rid of any of it - because my band may break, erode, slip - whatever my mind can think of - ultimately gaining this weight back and THEN having no clothes to wear. Anyone else going through this?

Anyone else do this? I'm pretty sure it was Marie-New Hope that linked me to FlyLady.net from here...I must say, it has been both aggravating and helpful. I ordered my Control Journal this morning, trying to get a handle on all the info.- trying to FLY! I really like this site. I'd love to see how others have used it. What's the best thing you have learned to do/handle from FlyLadies? I'm a FLYBaby, so I'm happy just to have my shoes on, sink shining, and I know where my laundry is. Trying to improve...how 'bout you?

OK I am in Clarksville / Nashville area visiting friends, family and attending a conference in Atlanta this month. My best friend for about 12 years now lives in the area. I just got back from a kick ass night out on the town with my girlfriend and her sister and her boyfriend. We went to this bar that has two floors. The lower floor is redneck as can be. Complete with line dancing and cowboys and girlfriends all in boots and fringe shirts. We played several games of pool and drank several drinks there. Then we go upstairs where there is a Hip Hop club. Completely packed and have to wade through a sea of people to get to the bar. I flirted and danced with se…

I'm sitting at my desk staring at my wedding ring as it slowly slides around my finger. The diamond won't stay in place any more. It slides to the underside of my hand where my palm is. I spin the ring so the diamond is on top again, then watch it slide down. I've watched it 10 times already in complete amazement. I had to smear lotion all over my hand then struggle to get my ring off before my Band surgery. Now I have to wear the diamond on the inside of my palm because my ring is too big. Looks like I'm just wearing gold bands. Fascinating. Having my wedding ring sized down simply doesn't compute. Wild.

Okay, here are the rules: 1) Because it is my natural inclination to save (my hording instinct extends to money too), no putting it in any sort of saving account, no investing it in stock, bond, money market account, nothing like this. 2) If you are not banded, no using the money for your band, too easy 3) No using it for college tutition. I hate Victoria and her stupid secret. The only secret she has is she's probably bullemic. I've been boycotting them for years and write them nasty letters when they send me cataloges because they don't cater to plus size (uh, REAL) women. So I have this fantasy, kinda a Pretty Woman scene. I spend hours with the sales clerk at Vicky's Secret selecting thousands of dollars worth of merchandise. Then, after they ring up the purchase, I tell them I changed my mind and make them back off the entire sale." Then I spin on my heels and tell them I decided to go buy some pretty bras at JC Penny who loved me even when I was fat.

I went for my last appointment with the surgeon yesterday and I expressed by what if I fail concerns with him. The line that struck me was - We'll (the MD staff) will be there with you every step of the way on your weight loss journey even at 3 am. You'll never be able to forget we are in this toegether once you have the surgery - OK a little corny - but it worked for me. Well.. going now on day 5 of my female dogs heat cycle I have decided that there is no such thing as sexual frustration for males or females of the human race. The true frustration is in my poor baby boy (dog) who can't stand that his woman is locked up so he can't knock her up. I have *never* experienced this so BAD before!! The last time she was in heat we let them do their tango dance and had some reallly cute puppies (http://www.katerzz.com/ its outdated a bit) but this time we've decided with surgery and just all the work it took.. I am usually seen in any combination of three clothing styles: Pajamas (most fave) Jeans and a sweater (school, and errands) uniform scrubs So today, I got an invite from MY DOCTOR! who hosts a formal dinner dance each year! I have obviously not had a good conversation with her and she has certainly been listening. Any advice? Even if your kids aren't, or weren't, the same age, all info is good for researchers. The very best gift I ever received was getting back my sense of humor. In my early 20’s I was working this terrible job where I had to work 2 graveyard shifts, 2 swing shifts and a day every week. After about 6 months of this I completely lost my sense of humor. I mean, NOTHING was funny. At all. I quit that job, and it took me a few weeks to find a new job. The new one I landed was all graveyards, and I actually grabbed the dishwasher by his apron lapel and demanded that he keep me awake. (I was a short order cook…) He was the funniest person I think I’ve ever known, and he gave me back my sense of humor. So, what is your best gift ever?

Over Christmas break, my son and I discovered that not everybody has a radio in their head. We had always taken it for granted that other people can just normally “listen” to music even when nothing external is playing. It’s like an internal soundtrack I guess. Music is very, very important to me. Here’s an example of what I mean about my head-radio: One morning, I’d been listening to Rammstein while working on my math homework. I get ready for my afternoon class on autopilot. This means putting books in bag, and getting my mp3 player, PDA, and stuff like that. I was about halfway to school before I realized that the music I was jamming to was only playing in my head… …
