  1. Hey fellas, I been lurking the boards for a couple months. I was sleeved on Nov. 9th. This seems like a really weird question, but since my surgery my wife has a smell to her. It seems like it's her breath that I cant stand. Numerous people tell me that her breath don't smell but sometimes I don't want to be around her. Anybody else experience this or am I overreacting?

It's been just about two years since my VSG and I thought I'd share an update. I've copied my post from one year out below so that you can have a point of reference. In sum, VSG was really the best thing I ever did. While it has only been two years, my life as a big fat dude is sort of a distant memory. Let me share some of the observations I find most interesting... Positives: I'm basically at peace with food. By that I mean that I enjoy and appreciate food, but it's just no longer a monkey on my back. I weight 186 pounds (5 pounds greater than last year and about 85 down from my peek of 272). There are just so many things that you can do at a lower weight…

Hey guys I've been reading the forums for a while. Lots of good info and help. I spent the last decade going back and forth about having the surgery. Finally was sleeved on 10/8 everything has gone surprising well. Nothing more than I guess the normal pain you'd have from getting sliced open in 6 places. Like I said thought I'd finally say hi after reading for so long.

  4. Good Day Gentlemen, I had Gastric Sleeve surgery in January of this year and have lost 143 pounds and have plateaued which I am fine with. I have gone from a size 46 pants to a 32 and a 3 to 4 XL shirt to a large/medium. I am writing to see if any other men have had any experience with Male breast/chest reduction or lifting after weight loss surgery. I understand insurance will normally not pay for this unless there is a medical issue. I do not have such an issue, I honestly have not had a major problem with loose skin. I have some loose skin on the inner thighs, buttocks and under arms but this is minimal and nothing I really can't live with. My issue is my chest. To be …

While my wife & I were getting ready for work this morning, I double checked the weather. Looked like it was going to be a chilly day here in Ohio. I grabbed one of my new-to-me fleece sweaters that I picked up at the local thrift store. My wife grabbed one as well and to her dismay she discovered she could not wear it because it was too small for her. The days of my wife stealing my clothes are finally at an end!

  10. I was never a touchy/feely person before surgery, but I was at least apathetic of it when I saw it. I have noticed however that I am having a very real emotional response to things I read or hear in person. And it is disdain or outright aggression. I swear I want to slap the person who utters the words Journey or Chapter. You know the ones, "Beginning my journey!" Starting a new chapter of my life!" Ugh. And the crying. Oh god they never pass up a good opportunity to talk about how they cried about something. "I saw something I couldn't eat!" "Someone ate in front of me!" "Someone said I took the easy way out!" et cetera, et cetera... There will always be s…

In going through this procedure, I've been very pleased with the weight loss that I've had (lost more than 100 lbs in less than 4 months) and the lifestyle changes that came with it (working out every day, less laziness, changing my wardrobe, eating less so spending less money, etc.). I've felt my confidence growing and I've been told all about how much better I look (even though some days I don't feel it...) and my life is all around better. I have quite a bit more to go before reaching my ultimate weight loss goal but I admire the path that I've walked so far and I hope to keep it up! The question I have is in regards to "head rolls or folds" that some of us have on the back of our head. Hopefully that makes sense. Do men that have these "head folds" pre-op see that these go away as they lose weight post-op maybe over many months or years and end up with a "smooth" head? Can't imagine there is a head exercise for that...is there?

Just thought I'd share a study I found in one of my medical journey subscriptions. Interesting read! Sleeve Gastrectomy Improves Testosterone Levels in Obese Men Thu, 10/08/15 - 11:39 Sleeve gastrectomy can normalize testosterone levels in men with obesity-related hypogonadism, according to a recent study. Previous research has suggested both the potential benefits of bariatric surgery to overall health and potential adverse effects of testosterone replacement therapy. For this reason, researchers aimed to investigate the effects of surgery-related weight loss on serum testosterone and prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels. ______________________________________…

There is a nice path to ride less than five miles from the house. Along the path there are several exits where riders peel off onto technical trails. I always stayed on the easy riding flat path. Hopefully by this winter I'll be a much lighter post-op version of myself. After surgery, my new life got the best of me and I became a flake on the forums. So here's a brief update: I was 23 years old and a year out of college when I had the gastric sleeve. I've been set on the sleeve ever since, but in going through the pre-op investigative tests earlier this year, it was discovered that I have very bad acid reflux and Barrett's, so both the bariatric surgeon and thoracic surgeon agreed I wasn't a candidate for the sleeve, and that the bypass was my only option. I really felt deflated at hearing the news, and since then have been on the fence about getting the surgery and struggling with the decision. To me, the bypass seems much more invasive, with mo…

This question is for single men who have lost a great deal of weight. If you were thinner in your youth and used to get laid a lot, even better. Plain and simple; does being thin have a large impact on your ability to bed hot chicks? See, I have heard all the stuff about how you have to be confident and know how to talk to them and all that. Not only have I heard it, but I used to teach guys how to pick up women. What I found is that no matter how good your game, there is no way you are going to bed 10s unless you are thin. Now in fairness, if you are thin and just a chode when it comes to chatting up girls you may benefit greatly from learning good game. But, I…

After the weight-loss and working out, the foot discoloration stopped. But this week I noticed I'm getting my leg hairs are back. I think that is a good thing, but has anyone else experienced this?

What it does seem to be causing issues in is my relationship with my best friend. It didn't take a lot of reflection to realize that a large part of my relationship with my best friend, in the past, has revolved around eating and drinking. Now it's like we don't have much to do when we hang out. It's pretty interesting so far and I'm really only 8 weeks into this process. I'm sure it will even itself out but I thought some of you on here might have the same issues.

I thought it was insane that I wouldn't even have considered taking part in this last fall at 395 lbs. Wish me good luck! Trying to prep for it nightly so I don't collapse!!! Lol!!!

  50. I need a guys perspective: How much does the sleeve surgery REALLY hurt? I've only talked to two people that have had it done in person, both are female. One said she was uncomfortable, but not in agony, the other said it was a living hell. Since male/female pain tolerances are about as different as a race car and a T-Rex, I thought I'd ask some of my male comrades here who already went under the knife what they thought about the pain/recovery time. What say you?
