Question

I am 4 years out of surgery this coming November.I am recently having issues with pain in my stomach and pressure, I do have a hernia so it does affect that. Anyone else have this problem? Also what do you do for it? I have read that Pepto is a big no-no but what about Tums and Dulcogas ? I also take 2 Previcid every morning.

  • I have a similar feeling when I get constipated and it really is miserable. I actually take a stool softener with laxative twice daily to stay regular. Occasionally it stills happens.

Tums is certainly a good choice, as it has some benefit of providing Calcium. I would also try some gasex or symethicone to help with any possible gas, which can certain increase the pressure in your stomach and then causing your pain. If it doesn't resolve with simple OTC remedies, please seek MD consultation. Good luck!

I do take gas-x. sometimes it doesnt help. Most days no matter what I eat I have gas/ bloating.

Are you drinking enough fluids??! Fiber?? I get bloated if I don't have a BM, so I take metamucil daily. Since you are already aware of a hernia... Might be time to fix it, to see if that corrects your problem as well.
