Stupid question...but trying to understand my new stomach. How do u know when your stomach is full? I am on Day 4 post-op. I ate like 5-6 teaspoons of soup...and I've got mild reflux. It eventually settled. So..just trying to not push myself. Some good warning signs would be helpful guys. Getting full isn't quite like it used to be.

Well..All the waiting is finally over! Tuesday 6:30 A.m. I report to the surgery center. Not really sure how I feel right now. Mostly excited about changing my life, but still not sure really wrapped my head around all of this yet. I'm mostly concerned about the loose skin. I lost 100 pounds two years ago but I lost that way very slowly. No issues with skin being loose then. I have made at least one trip to the gym and talk things over with a trainer. Planning to go and develop a program with the trainer so I can follow it daily and hopefully avoid the loose skin. Anyway here goes nothing! Wish me good luck!!!!

I am just wondering how your relationships with your wives have changed since surgery if at all? I recently had surgery and am down about 50 lbs. I was really fat before surgery...pushing 400. My wife is bigger but significantly smaller than me. We talked about this before my surgery. I don't want her to be bigger than me. I am already getting annoyed with her because despite what she said, it seems she has no interest in trying to lose weight too. I am worried about the future. I love her and can't imagine that changing but I can also see myself becoming bitter if I end up the same size as her.

So....I haven't really cheated yet...but this liquid diet is kicking my ass! I'm doing everything I've been told to do. But, it's day 6 and I think my mind is screwing with me. I just want to eat something that I can chew...but don't want to risk my pre-op diet progress..or cause problems for the surgeon..but I feel like I'm about to crack! HELP!!!!!!! Trying not to bust waiving the white flag!!!

I've never been a runner and in the past when I lost large amounts of weight, the body shrunk in a basically uniform and even manner. While the stomach was always the last to go.....it eventually did get back to being flat and minus the love handles or spare tire. Well.....things are different now..... Wow, what time and age and a lifetime of obesity abuse has done to the ole bod. Now I have bad knees, clogged arteries and have suffered a heart attack from obesity......My Cardiologist insists my top priority is a lot of cardio- exercises.....(.mostly treadmill or jogging). While I still hate running, I mostly do the treadmill...... Either fast walking,…

I'm going to Brooklyn for a sleep study tonight. I have no known symptoms, but the NLNL surgical clinic, who is handling my insurance requires it. Presumably because it makes the case for insurance coverage stronger. Perhaps they'll find something useful for the case, as they did when they requested blood work. Apparently, I'm diabetic now. Endoscopy next week, then two more nut appointments and they will submit paperwork. It seems to me, that even with a BMI of 37.9 and one co-morbidity, I should be a lock. But when dealing with Insurance (aetna) nothing is certain. Anyone done a sleep study?

Hello, I am tentatively looking to have a sleeve put in the end of May. I have researched this for over a year now and I only have one real concern. I have asked this of other people but cannot not seem to wrap my mind around it. Can you give me your experience with not feeling the need to eat and not having food consume your life? I have heard others say that this is the case and had discussions around the fact that when I wake up, I am thinking about what I am having for lunch and dinner. Others have told me that they were the same way and that the sleeve really changed that for them. I would like any feedback that you are willing to offer on this subject …

My concern is I have very active job and family life. And now I have been using energy drinks and coffee to help give me boosts. But what can I do after surgery? If I'm cutting my food intake down and I'm gonna be restricted to water and broth and mushy foods for a few weeks what can I do to maintain high level of energy

I don't know if any of you guys post on Instagram at all, but I know searching #vsg or #vsginstacrew has been really helpful for me in my recovery. The only thing is that it's mostly women, which is fine except sometimes I want to see men's stories and posts, so I started posting using #vsgmen If you are on Instagram and posting, toss that hashtag in your post and we can keep track of each other.

I got my lap band 5 years ago. I was 414 when I started and got down to about 360. I have been struggling ever since, I have gained weight and I am now at 375, but I have been holding steady at that weight for about 3 years or so. It is really difficult, I drink too much when I eat and I force food through the band with liquids. I have a difficult time with the "full" feeling from the band, it feels really uncomfortable and I feel like I need to drink something to get rid of that feeling. My wife has been supportive, but now she is indifferent because she has seen no major progress. Food is a drug and I don't know how to fight the addiction. My doctor moved her pra…

Hello All: Had my surgery 13 days ago, and have begun the discovery process on the board. Lost 18 lbs at my first Dr. visit 10 days out, so happy about that. About to begin my travel schedule again for work after two weeks out. I have my Protein shakes to cover mornings and lunches, thinking about Yogurt, Soups, Underwood deviled products for dinners. Water won't be a problem. Any suggestions. Really just looking to say hello, and anxious to read about other success. If you are from Houston, let me know! I need an alcohol free, easy on the stomach place to watch some football, and my house with the rest of the gang isn't it!! Regards,

I've done great since surgery in May but I haven't lost any weight in two weeks. I'm down 115 lbs but now the scale has stopped. I did add some pasta once a week but zero bread. I'm having about 750 calories per day and walking about 2 miles every am. Any suggestions?

It's a brave new world out here post surgery. I've now hit a couple of milestones (hit the 50 pounds lost a few weeks ago and today am under 300 for the first time in....well, quite a while) but the question is how do you Celebrate now? It used to be that for special events, anniversaries, birthdays, work events, promotions, etc it was off to a restaurant, have a cake, etc to celebrate. That, obviously, won't work anymore. It hasn't been a major issue so far, I just pass on the cake at work (although someone brought a HUGE carrot cake the other day...and carrot cake IS the devil...but I wasn't even tempted), eat sensibly at restaurants, etc but I know it's going to come…

Hey everyone. So I am 4 months post op and I am 30 pounds down. Here is my problem.... I met a guy, an amazing sweet kind man. We had kissed a couple of times and everything was perfect...then one day I kissed him and a huge gas bubble came up . I didn't burp but you could hear the gurgling sound. I was mortified!!! And it seems like every time I kiss him the same thing happens. Now I notice I have to burp all the time...small ones and big ones lol. How do I stop... I'm so embarrassed

I'm on my first business trip post surgery, 6 weeks ago. I planned and planned so that I can have max success while I'm gone. To a certain degree I feel like an alcoholic with new-found sobriety. So far, so good. It's hard to get enough Water while on the planes but worked out at the hotel, got in a nice walk, had a salad for dinner, etc. Here's hoping the rest of the week is as easy. What kinds of things have others done to keep on the straight and narrow while traveling? Any tips, tricks?

So I'm jogging along the creek this morning and I run into my ex. She used to be a ring girl back when I was fighting MMA and had always been (my wife isn't looking) HOT!!!! She was there when I tore my knee to shreds and we broke it off before I went from 205-337. Her father and I stayed great friends and fishing buddy's despite the breakup between his daughter and I so I'm sure she was aware of the weight gain. Fast forward to today.. She stopped me and I kept jogging in place so she didn't know my interest had peaked. Maaaaan she looked good!!! But... You guys would be proud. Gave her a shug (hand shake + hug) that we guys give each other) and kept pushing!! Man it …

Just got sleeved 8/19, everything went well, but they wanted me to start urinating later in the day and I had a hard time with it. So they decided to catheterized me and had a hard time getting the catheter in, I'll go thru ten surgeries before I want to thru that again. It turned out my prostate had swollen, so now I'm on meds to shrink it and walking around with the catheter until next week. I hope it's a small complication and we button it up quickly, still no regrets. Any one else have that problem?

So was sleeved on July 16 and everything is going great. Down 50lbs total and 22 since surgery. So now my nut has even warned me of the upcoming stall. How long does it last? Week /2 weeks? Not that it matters but looking for experience. Tks

We all had this surgery because of one or more reasons we were not able to consume less calories on a regular basis to loose and maintain to our desired weight. With that being said, the sleeve is supposed to physically restrict the amount of food our stomachs can hold. I am 6 weeks out and I am shocked and scared of the amount of food I can get down. I have been trying to do my part, but the actual restriction I was expecting is not there. I started eating chicken and realized I could eat a whole chicken breast. And yesterday I was able to eat a double cheese burger and a few fries. I know I shouldn't eat that, so please spare me the comments on that and how just beca…

My husband is 9 weeks out of surgery, and he has zero sex drive. Anyone else dealt with that? I know this is the guys room, but it is a guys question?

Hi everyone. I'm new on the forum. I've been through my initial consult and I am waiting for a response from my insurance company so I can schedule. I'd like to hear from other men who they chose to tell about getting sleeved. Right now I've, of course, discussed it with my wife who is great and very supportive. I've also talked with my two older kids (14 & 11) and they have been great. I'm choosing not to tell my 6 year old just because I don't think he'd understand and he'd blab in no time. As for work, I'm just planning to tell my boss I'm having abdominal surgery and leave it at that. I really just feel this is a personal decision and not anybody else's conc…

I'm 41 years old and I have battled my weight since age 5. As a teenager, I went to fat camp many summers (I lost in summer, but gained it back). I'm 6'2'' tall. At age 25 is was 200lbs. Age 30: 235lbs. Age 40: 260 pounds. Now, I'm two months shy of age 42, I'm at 270. The problem is, I'm always hungry and diets are hell. I was around 185lbs from age 18-21, but I had to do aerobic exercise at least 45 min a day and diet like hell all the time. The moment I stopped dieting or exercising I gained weight. My best friend (who has always had natural six pack abs) calls me insane for wanting this done, and tells me workout/hit the gym, but he has no idea what it's like to …

Anyone here want to share how they were able to overcome using food as a "go-to" drug? I am 34 and have recently weighed In at 417 lbs. I did a Jillian Michaels program and got down to 393....Then went back up to 410. Then found out I am diabetic and managed to diet and gym it back down to 400. Now I am 410 again. Point is... The weight loss is not as empowering to me as the food. I wish it were. How do you stop the food addiction if I were to get the band???

I travel often for my job, and now I am starting to visit clients that I met before, but haven't seen me since the surgery. I visited one of those last week. When I entered the guy's office, he looked at me kind of surprised, then his face turned a little sad. He looked me in the eye and quietly said, "Death or divorce?" Confused, I asked him what was he talking about. He said the only time any male friends of his lost this much weight, it was because they were "trolling for new fish". Therefore, his assumption is was I was baiting the hook with some new meat. I hadn't laughed so hard in a while......

Hey guys....I need some advice about calorie intake. When it comes to calories I know men and women have different needs so that is why I am posting in the men's group. On average what is your daily calorie intake? Do you count calories? I am 3 months post op, 5'7", 45 y/o and stuck at 253 lbs. Up to this point I have not really looked at calories and just concentrated on my Protein and Fluid intake. I have been stuck at 253 for about 4 weeks which could be just a normal stall but maybe I am doing something wrong. I have started tracking my food on MyFitnessPal again to know exactly how much I am eating. My daily calories intake is around 1,000 per day, some da…

Sure I lost some weight. I think I was 461lb and almost three years later I am still 322lb. Stress. That's one. But let me tell you the crap I put myself in. I was married. Now I am divorced. Lost several jobs but got a new career. Fathered twin boys. Dated a long time friend. Proposed to said friend. She walked out of the engagement after 2 months. Kid's mother is being very strict on visitation. Cannot afford an attorney so I'm stuck on that for the time beiing. Have resorted to binge drinking since I can't gorge on food. I had to stop doing that when I passed out and woke up to realize I drank a half bottle of vodka. Depressed over not one, not two but THREE failed rel…

Ok Guys, so I've heard that you should be careful drinking after sleeve because you get drunk faster. I'm not a heavy drinker...but I might have a few cocktails, a beer, and a glass of wine if I'm out with friends. Since I'm 385..that really doesn't affect me. Just wandering if you guys can shed some light on how different or not different your tolerance is post-sleeve. I meet with my surgeon in 3 weeks, so I still have a way to go b4 getting sleeved.

I have just started my process and have not been banded but I am trying to create a list of things that I never thought i could do but would like to once I lose a significant amount of my weight. I wonder what others have in mind for once they have lost their weight. 1. Scuba dive in the Caribbean. 2. Hike to the top of a mountain. 3. Run/Walk a 5 or 10K

I have a question about Protein shakes. First off I am pre surgery, waiting on insurance approval. I have followed the nut diet for the past 6 months. She wanted me to start skipping one meal a day and replace it with a Protein shake. Not a problem, Ive found that I love the shakes. Been enjoying them with low fat milk for the past 6 months now. Now I've read on here that alot of folks taste changed after surgery, and most despise the shakes. But is it possible to just live off Protein Shakes and Water? As long as you take Vitamins and get your 60 - 90 grams of protein a day, will that be enough to keep going? Could I just forgo food for 6 months by replacing it w…

There is a lot of FUD right now about how effective a yearly PSA test is, even to the point of recommending that guys consider not having it checked on a yearly basis. I personally have mine tested every year and have been watching PSA climb over the last several years, and when I went in for this year’s physical, my PCP kicked me back to a urologist for a biopsy, and the biopsy came back positive for prostate cancer. 2 weeks ago yesterday, I had my prostate removed, walked out of the hospital 24 hours later, got my pathology report back 5 days later showing that the cancer was contained in the prostate and I had a 90% of remaining clean. The point is, I didn’t have s…

Got my first PSA results after the surgery, less than 1/10 of one point, which means I am clean (For now). Now, only 10 more tests, one every 6 months for the next 5 years showing the same results and I am considered cured. To Celebrate I got on the bike and did a couple of miles.

I am extremely worried about working while I am doing the two week liquid diet my doc wants me to do. I wanted to take off work but the girls in the dr's office tell me the doc won't give me a letter allowing me to do that. I work for a courier company that is very fast paced. I unload trucks by hand for the first two hrs. A lot of heavy stuff. I am 65 and the temperature is forecast to be 103-106 during most of the two weeks. We work outside under a canopy but still really hot. Did any of you guys have this problem?

My arms and shoulders look fantastic (i work out five days a week and my arms are starting to look like a bodybuilder's), but the rest of me looks like Fat Bastard from Austin Powers after he loses a bunch of weight. I was really hoping this wouldn't happen, at least not at this level. Time to spend like $10,000 or more on a tummy tuck, then who knows how much more on an inner thigh lift (or whatever it's called), and something needs to be done about the turkey neck, and the leftover man-boob. I have a butt crack under my belly button! People say the loose skin is worth it because you're healthier. It's definitely true. I am thrilled to not use my sleep apnea machine an…

At least that's how she describes it, unfaithful to the old me. My amazing, gorgeous wife has always said (and demonstrated!) that she thought I was attractive/sexy even when I was up to 327 pounds. Now I am 3 months post op and down 82 pounds to 245 and she is on me like white on rice! Not that I mind but it is kinda funny to hear how conflicted she feels. She feels guilty when she tells me now that I look good and feels compelled to say, "I thought you looked good before, too". Ah well, a nice problem to have. When I shed another 40 to get to my goal weight I may just have to fight her off with a stick to get some rest!

OK OK I know. Here is my question, I'm 30 year old male about 5"4 280 now. I'm waiting for insurance approval that was submitted on the 13th. Hope fully its good news soon. So the area or mountain of fat around the penis how does that go away. Fat dissappears? As now seems like my penis is a inne unless get hard or pull it out. Does that area go away? Also I'm hoping I don't have lots of extra skin most of my weight is in belly like a beer gut and then there's the tittys lol. Anyone can help would be great

I am nearly three years removed form VSG surgery. I used to be nearly 500lb (460lb) but am stuck at just over 300lb (well 327lb to be exact). I am 6'2" and 39 years old. Recently I figured out I had a big crossover addicition....drinking. I was a binge drinker for a year and a half after surgery. Now I know you can't get any real weight off drinking hard liquor. Now, I am working out and cutting my carbs down. Thankfully I have no health issues like diabetes or liver damage. I have started on four supplements to facilitate more fat loss. Optii-Men (one tab daily) Garcinia Cambogia (one tab in the morning) EGCg (one tab in the afternoon) Green coffee Bean Extract (o…
