Hello Everyone I know it's been a long time since i've posted but, I was so frustrated with my band experience. I just didn't have much to say. We'll I got my port revised 02-10-05, went for followup appt 2-14-05 and discovered that not only did he revise my port he also gave me a fill, my fill was 1.5cc. I was wondering why i was feeling much different after surgery with my eating. I even had my first PB experience which wasn't very nice. But now I know why i was feeling so different. Now I can get on my journery of this weight loss experience. My initial weight the original day of surgery was 250 I am as of today 242. My original surgery date was 12-2-04. So i'…

Is there such a thing? What if the LB needs to be removed for some reason do Doctors charge another 10k to remove it. Is the process coming out the same as going in? Not planning on this ever being an issue but wanted to ask anyway.

I've posted this on the lap band forum at OH as well....hoping for some of your great insight. Ok bandsters I'm hoping you can give me some guidance here. I'm continuing my journey towards the band - my first consult is 2/25. I really do think this is my best choice. At the same time, I've made an appointment with a surgeon that performs DS, RNY and VBG - in the event I cannot get the band covered by insurance. That appt. is 3/17. Not surprising, the surgeon does not do banding - doesn't feel there is enough long term data to support it (he and I had a long conversation) Here are today's fears (LOL). Since the band is a newer procedure, are any of you concerned about…

Some very kind people suggested i post a new thread. I initially posted under a thread about secrecy which touched a chord with me. I'm having surgery this Friday in London and so far, have only told one friend who has just gone on holiday - to Antarctica! So he's not much use! I haven't even told my mother, to whom I regard myself as being close. However, she is a terrible worrier who usually manages to turn most of my problems into her own which results in me spending all my time reassuring her rather than the other way around. I know I'll get the 'I didn't sleep a wink' treatment from her if I do tell her. On the other hand, I am terrified that something goes wrong and…

I have the 4cc band and recieved a 1.5cc fill. He put in 2cc but backed off when he could see it didn't go through well enough. He told me to do liquids for a couple of days. I ate 3/4 cup cream Soup and feel stuffed. Is this how it feels if it is right. I am a little afraid that I won't be able to eat real food. Could you please share your story with me. Does this initial restriction go away at all or get worse? How much should I be able to eat at a meal or drink? I drooled over my husbands sub but knew if I tried to take a bit I would barf. LOL

This is such an awesome site. So, who started it? when? How do you get into posts that are achived from the beginning? What I mean is, I tried to find the first post ever written on LBT and it won't go back that far...page 9 of the General discussion only goes back to Jan 2005, I think? Just interested in the history of LBT...thanks!

I believe my biggest hurdle will be learning to eat without drinking. Currently, when I go to a restaurant I finish my beverage (iced tea, water) before I even get my food. And then I always guzzle down another glass while eating. I've been trying to practice eating without drinking since I'll be banded in a couple weeks and this will be my new way of life. But I gotta be honest, this scares me more than changing my portion sizes and food choices. Is there anybody else that felt the same way?

Hey guys, So, I realize that with the band, you're supposed to eat 3 meals a day and not snack between meals. Well, if I were good at that kinda thing, it's possible I might not have needed the band in the first place. =) I'm sure I'm not alone, and I'm sure many of you have found healthy Snacks that you can eat between meals and be just fine. So, what do you guys snack on? Fess up!

OK, Gang...I am taking a poll. How mcuh was your first fill? Mine was 1.5 in a 10 cc band. My doc said that was not a small fill.Got a question too. Is 10 cc the amount of fluid it hold or the size of the band. I was shocked when I asked how large my band was and he pulled one out of a drawer and it was about the size of a 50 cent piece.

Hey guys: I am participating in the Los Angeles 5K walk / run Marathon. I thought for a fleeting second about the HUGE marathon but that is a brutal 26 miles. WHEW!! I think I can handle the 5K better which is only 3.1 miles. Here is some info: The Emerald Nuts 5k Run/Walk takes place on Sunday, March 6, 2005 in conjunction with the 20th Los Angeles Marathon. Shortly after watching 23,000 runners, walkers and wheelchair athletes pass the one-mile mark of the City of Los Angeles Marathon in front of Staples Center, an estimated 4000 people will start the 3.1 mile Emerald Nuts 5K Run/Walk. The Emerald Nuts 5K Run/Walk offers a full morning of family fun. After …

Okay, I got the surgery, yea! I wish to look as good as all of you bandsters who posted your pictures! I have a list of things going on with me...and I am wondering if you could tell me if they are normal, or not. This will help me greatly. Here goes: 1. Well, the clear liquid diet going okay. But, I have been noticing my BM's are liquidy too. Like, watered down. Is that normal? 2. My left side (where the port is) feels weird, like if I laugh too hard the port will pop out! Is that normal? 3. With my flu, when I cough, I feel like I could move my band. Is that even possible or just paranoid on my part? I have been sick with the flu-since the day after my surgery…

Good Morning, I can't believe that I haven't posted here yet. I read everyday and just realized that I haven't told everyone that I was Banded Feb 3, 2005. Everything went really well. A bit of trouble getting the breathing tube in, but I was made aware that it might be a problem so I didn't freak out to much, and it was over very quickly and the next thing I knew I was in the recovery room. I live in Indianapolis and traveled to Cincinnati to have surgery with a really great surgeon Dr. Trace Curry. I was walking to the Bathroom the night of Surgery and walking down the hall the next morning. I did spend two nights in the hosptial due to the distance from home a…

Hi Everyone, I am going next week to meet with a local plastic surgeon who gets great reviews here in my area. He takes my insurance and from what I understand he is very kind and compassionate about the problems relating to morbid obesity. As a matter of fact, he only takes insurance from WLS patients and the rest of the universe is self pay. I checked out his website and he seems to do a good job. The one hour consult is free so I am definitely going next week. I was gonna wait til I got to goal, but my body really seems to be stuck in the 180's and I dont think a fill is going to help at this stage. I even considered going on a liquid diet for two weeks to see if I c…

Just got off the phone with her. She is recuperating nicely. Almost zero pain. None with the breast surgery and minor with the abdominoplasty. She could go to the hotel today if she wanted but is electing to stay one more night if insurance will allow. I think she said they took 600cc off one breast and 400cc off the other. So she lost about 2.5lbs just with the breast surgery. LOL!!! She said to tell everyone that she will be home soon. She was getting tired at the end of our conversation but said to say HI to everyone.

Hi Everyone, Well, I finally made it. The elusive Century and a Half Club. One hundred fifty pounds gone forever! I have been sitting at 185-186 for two weeks and finally got to 184!!! Its been a struggle. I have been back at the gym 3 hours this week and I am attempting to keep this pace going and add a martial arts class as well. I want to be able to kick some booty if I ever need to! Plus I thnk it will help my sense of balance as well. My body is rebelling to get these last pounds off. I think it is happy here, but I am not!!!! Dont expect to ever see a Double Century Club from me. I have no aspirations to be 134 pounds and I am pretty sure that my body will never …

I need some help determining if I need another fill. I've had five so far, but I've been banded for over a year so newbies don't freak out. veterans- I need your thoughts on this. I can eat more but mostly it's because I've learned to eat a few bites, wait, and then I can eat more. It doesn't feel like food is staying in my pouch for very long...maybe 5-10 minutes? I feel like I'm hungry all the time and so I am making some pretty poor choices. I just realized something- I loose 10 pounds after every fill and then my weight plateaus. I probably should talk to my doctor abuot this. The only time I've ever had reflux was the other night when I ate a huge brow…

Some one please send me some motivation to get me jumpstarted again. I really want to lose 20 pounds and I can't seem to do it. I can't even lose 1 lb. I am at 1 cc right now due to having all of it taking out from being too tight. I go get a fill on the 21st. I am hoping that gets me going again. I can pretty much eat anything and alot lately!! I feel like I should be at 150 by now. I have been at this plateau since before August of last year. I had lost 65 lbs by my year anniversary and I have not lost since before then. Will I ever lose this weight or am I stuck???

:sick I went for my 4th (blind) fill last Wednesday. I already had 7 cc in my 11 cc band, which lasted me for about 9 months. I hadn't lost any weight in a few months so I thought it was time to get back on track. The doctor said he was going to put in 2 cc, which I thought was kind of extreme, but he's the doctor right? I drank some Water and it gurgled but went down. As I'm driving home, I started feeling like I had swallowed a grapefruit and then I got the hiccups. Then I started feeling really nauseated. Of course by then the office was closed. Pretty soon I figured out that my saliva wasn't going down and started spitting it into a bottle (I'm still driving …

Can someone who has a large amount of fill please tell me what it is? I am at about 3.60 and getting nervous since I really don't have a lot of restriction. Yes I did have an Endoscopy and I do not have erosion and yes the doc takes out my fill and then replaces it with new so I know I'm not losing any. Thanks.

In case you don't remember my past posts I had been filled to 3.60 and was worried that my fill was so high. Well, I told my doc that I could still eat alot and didn't feel much restriction like I thought I should and asked him to do a barium swallow. Well, that was last Friday and everything looked fine so they decided to set me up for a fill under fluoro this past Monday. So get this, they give me more of a fill and there was no difference in restriction. They take me down to 2.0 just to see if there is a difference and there is none. So now they are not sure what the problem is. One reason might be since I've lost 60 lbs. that the fat pad has gotten smaller and m…

Dr. Billy had a long conversation with Lisa on the day of her Surgery and in that discussion was a little something called "Consumption of FOOD". Hmmm, sounds like a good thing HUH? Not the way Billy wants us to start looking at it. SIGH!! There are several things he discussed with both of us that day. I am sure Lisa will add her two cents when she gets home. Which as I look at my watch I see her plane should have landed safely in Vegas as I type this. Miss her already. SNIFF SNIFF!!! 1. All of us out there that compare our fill to someone elses or compare our weight loss or whatever we all need to STOP that. Everyone is different. Case in point, Lisa …
