  1. The band doesnt stop the bad ice cream and poor food selection. Ive eaten bad many times. Slow loser on count of it. Its just a tool to help. I know now that my diet and my meaning my intervention and self discipline still has to be a part of this. Yeah Ive sat and eat all the bad foods. Blizzards, pizza, on and on. For the last 2 months Ive gotten involved in a huge group from work that they paid for. Dietitians, trainers, weigh ins. Lost 16 Lbs in 6 weeks. Just the diet and exercise!
  2. After 6 years Im finally restricted well enough to see the real band in action. I came from 280-220 initially with all the other fills. Then began to gain to 240 again after 6 fills! The #7 though. Im in there. It took me a while like 5 weeks to learn what and how to eat again. So dont give up. They will tweak it in and it will work just fine. You'll see. I went from 241-225 in 5 weeks. Thats great for me. My exercise was cut in half initially while I relearned to eat. I just didnt have the energy to be burnin. Now Im back on my game in the gym and running with high expectations. Shoot a PM anytime you want to talk...Good luck.
  3. I recently had a fill (01/12/2010). Things have been good and bad since then. Ive lost 13 pounds which is good. My food intake however has been difficult. I have to be careful to get my water and enough nutrients to stay moving. I wanted to get some feedback from you all. When I wake up no matter when there is nothing going down. Water, juice, nothing for at least 2 hours after I awake. Normally then when I can drink I through down a good bit of water. Try to go at least a quart. Then Im ready to eat. Ive not been brave enough to try big food yet. I have done soups and some canned tuna which would indicate I could eat better. Rotisserie Chicken with soup. Later I can prep to eat again but sometime I just dont. Eating anywhere near bedtime is a no-no too. 3 Hours at least. Ive been banded for 6 years. Im ready and willing to really get this working for me cause I feel like Ive been playing around for years now. I did weigh in at 280 Im now 225. I feel as if Im too tite but plan to work with this until I get my goal weight of 170. 55 Lbs away. Anyone care to comment? Thanks
  4. Good Job, come on in.... One question I'd ask the Doc. How many have you done. More than 100 I'd hope. 2nd I'd request no trainees are to be workin on me. It happens more than you think and its your money and body. Im not the one for training....
  5. Not that big a deal to me but if I had my drathers i wouldnt have said anything, myself.
  6. What can I really expect from the surgery? Its not magic. You will have to work too. Many people feel they are done when its installed. Its a new beginning. Follow Dr instructions and 1-2 lbs a week avg. isnt unheard of for a while. how long were you in for? 1 Day Hospitals are not my fav place in the world. As like many I hate vomiting, so at all lengths I want to avoid it, what foods would you advice I stay away from? Everybody is different but its safe to say uhhhh pizza, hamburgers, Big lovely pastrami sandwiches, nuts, som eof my sacrifices but Im better for it. You'll find that each fill will change your diet. My last one took many foods away from the 8th fill I think. Now I think Im where I should be. good luck on your journey. Be calm. We have all been there and are okay...Feel grateful with your new diet...
  7. Im 6 years in also with a recent fill thats really tite. like you Im very concerned now that Im not gettin enough for fuel. My workouts have putted out. Foods not appealing and soup is my mainstay. I need to lose a lot so Im working around it now. But man once I get to goal I may have to deflate. Im concerned but needed a fill. Fruit, berrys, steak, is a noway jose deal for me now. Lot of soft soup and protien shakes. Good luck. Hang in there. I think my body was in shock for a week. I was like really tired and mostly layed around but I picked up later....
  8. 6 years, still learning. I have has it rough since my last fill 2 weeks ago. I cant chug anything. I see here the bite size may be too big that Im trying. Have to be more careful...Good post.
  9. This happened to me...It was GAS! From surgery...
  10. love the scrap-booking. I have to look in on that. Im a shutterbug for real
  11. Get pics...Can you say..Free band? Mal-practice comes to mind...
  12. 8 fills over 6 years and i think im there now...
  13. 7th or 8th fill and 6 years. I think I am in the sweet spot now. So yeah it could take a minute. Its working just as described for me now.
  14. In one week I have lost 10 lbs. Is that average? It varies but yeah I have seen that happen. I have lost 6 in a week especially in the beginning. Which are the best vitamins to take and what dosage? I think they are over rated. I do supplement with Protein shake which has many goodies added. I do not take multi vitamins any more. What are the best supplements (calcium citrate or the other, etc) No comment Best chocolate protein drinks or powder without chalky taste? I really like six sense from wally world choc and vanilla shake. Next or equal is optimum nutrition protein powder same as above. Best tasting clear liquids protein drinks? Muscle Milk hands down. Any lotions or tricks to prevent saggy skin? No comment When will I feel normal again? Its been 6 years and this is normal for me now. I live with a smaller stomach and have to plan how and what I eat. Thats what we wanted though. Rite? Any good blogs or website that could be helpful now that I have the band? You are at the best in my opinion. Any other good tip you think I should know? Be very patient. Be careful especially now. Let yourself heal and follow the Dr. diet instructions to the letter or later you could have trouble. Except no embrace that things are different now and wow how good is it going to be this time next year....Good Luck..
