Lately Ive been on a 3 week + no losing streak, and i was really starting to get depressed-i know I havent been eating right-even with my last fill-i was a chocolate spree, but I just havent been motivated to eat healthy. But Wednsday, i went shopping and actually fit into a size 22 pants(i started a 28/30), and the size I usually take was too big. I was SO excited! Then i tried on a few coats since my one from last year is HUUUUUGE. I fit into a 18/20! And not just that one coat-all the coats i tried were the same- a little tight, but the next size up was definatly too big...plus Ive always wanted one of those long sweaters, but i knew I'd look gigantic in it. But i got u…

I am very excited to announce that my husband and I are expecting our second child! I found out today for certain that I am pregnant and am due in the beginning of July. While I am very excited by this news I do have to admit that I am a bit disappointed that I am still so far away from my goal weight. I really wanted to be a normal, healthy weight for pregnancy, and I want to look pregnant, not just fatter! Nontheless, this is joyous and surprising news!

When I started my weight loss journey back in May, I set up four mini goals to meet prior to my BIG FINALE-100 pounds lost. Well, I just hit my last mini goal: 1) loose 50 pounds- accomplished Sept 2) get below 200-accomplished Oct 3) weigh less than my husband (184)-accomplished Nov 4) lose 75 pounds- accomplished TODAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!! And what's even better....I know I will keep it off forever !!! Even if I never make it to the 100 pound mark, I know I am so much healtheir and happier with where I am. What a great Christmas present I just gave myself, and boy does it feel gooooooooooooooood. Thanks guys for helping me along the way

Hi, my name is Dody and I'm a retired nurse. I'm going to be banded in Oak Ridge, Tennessee within the next few mo. I've read a lot of posts and find you are a tight knit and supportive group, which is a great thing. I hope that you will allow me to infringe on your space once in awhile and share in some of your experiences. I'm excited, but a little worried. I'm older then most bandsters I've seen on here. I'm 62, but I feel oh so much younger (except for my feet which hurt). I think taking some weight off will take care of that. I'm 5' 9" tall and weight 157. I have sleep apnea; high cholesterol; high blood pressure; heart problems; hypothyroidism; and meet man…

Surgery is next week.I seeing all these people having problems with the band.I feel so bad for them and it has me very worried. This is my one chance with the insurance company.I hope I have made the right choice picking the band over the gastric.Who has had the band the longest???? My husband's ex still has her old Melina band.Is this band better for us or does it just make the doctors more money? There seems to be alot of kinks to work out. Remember my daughter is having it done in January.

I'm back from hospital having had my slipped band removed and replaced with another. I was supposed to have the op on Wednesday but when I arrived for pre-op tests on Tuesday they'd had a cancellation so I was done a day early. (Less time to worry). This op has been completely different to last time - for a start the shoulder pains from the gas. I was lucky last time and didn't get even a twinge. However, I've been in agony all night and haven't had a wink of sleep. My chest and ribs are all hurting and I can't breathe properly. Oh, woe is me! If anyone has any good tips to get rid of the pain I'll be really grateful to hear them.

I had an interesting discovery today and actually it's a SNV!!! I could never watch the food Channel because: (1) I would have to find something to eat while watching it, (2) could not even consider making any of the recipes since I would eat half of it just cooking it then 3 servings at dinner and (3) I felt like a pig just watching all that food! BUT, tonight my daughter and I watched together and enjoyed every minute and I got a great recipe for an appetizer (which I needed for a party)! I did not eat while watching, I know I will not eat any while cooking (don't do that any more or I can't eat dinner!!) and I did not feel like a pig watching all the food instead I …

So, I go in to get another fill b/c I have had NO restriction thus far. He filled me up 1.2 more cc's and I went over to the machine and drank the barium and PAIN PAIN PAIN PAIN and then throw up throw up throw up. The I tried some water and throw up throw up throw up! Then the nurse tried to unfill me and couldn't hit my poor so I had to wait for the doc to come back and all the while I was throwing up, feeling so much pain, sliming, etc. So, the doc removed some and now I have 2.3cc total. Anyways, I guess it's ok now. I've had water and soup and I'm fine. I still feel grossed out though. I've never PB'd or slimed before and it was awful doing it on the barium!

Is there anyone viewing this who is UK based? I was banded in Bath a week ago, on 23rd November. It seems there is much more awareness and understanding of gastric banding in the USA and Australia than in the UK so it would be good to compare notes with UK based bandsters. Stephie

I'm sick, I feel like crap, my stomach is bothering me, I can't explain it, my belly gurgles different, I didn't eat much today, not due to restriction, but due to it feeling "creepy" and weird, I'm concerned about my friends who were unbanded today, I just want to be normal, I've flipped my lid, I "have a feeling" I'm eroded, I hate the suspense, I can't think straight, Penni can't think straight, all I want for Christmas is an At-Home-Erosion-Detector-Kit. Anyone else got anything to say about potential erosion?

I was informed by a bariatric surgeon that the bands should be surgically after you reach your goal weight. Not longer than approximately 2 years. My understanding is that it can potentially set you up for problems like erosion if it is in too long due to the band being a foreign object & also deterioration of the band. I was under the impression that the band could be in for several years. I was somewhat perplexed by this information. I was hoping to find that (sweet spot) for the next 20 yrs or so after my goal weight where I would eat just the right amounts of food in order to avoid gaining or loosing weight. The surgeon informed me that by the time bandsters reach…

I had my surgery on Nov. 7th and am scheduled for my first fill this Friday (Dec.2). It has not even been a month yet, and it will only have been 26 days since my surgery. A couple of days ago I felt that this was too soon, until I ate a bit too much today. I was hardly able to eat anything yesterday. Then, all of a sudden, today I was able to eat more. Of course, it was not even close to what I used to eat, but it was a lot compared to what I have been able to eat since the surgery. I have heard from several different band patients that the soonest I should receive a fill is anywhere from 6-8 weeks following surgery. Has anyone else here had a fill so soon after s…

Well, the tests confirmed today that there is a slippage. Dr. Pupokova removed all the saline(1cc.) and I have to check back with them next week. She thinks that they will have to fix the slip laprascopic. I am devastated to say the least. I have changed my lifestyle completely since the band, do all the right things etc. and then this happens. But Thank you ALL for your support. Alexandra, I will say hello to the doctors, maybe we can meet one of these days.

My family is very interested in going on the Disney Cruise!! I have agreed now that I am losing weight!!! I want to lose another 50 pounds before we go, but I thought I better start thinking about planning it. If anyone has gone on the cruise, could you let me know how you liked it? Any "ins and outs" about the cruise would be helpful. We would take the cruise that leaves from Florida, so when is the best time of year insofar as the weather, etc? How many days did you cruise? Also my daughter will be 10 years old this summer....do you think she would still enjoy it? Thanks in advance.....

I've noticed that a few people on here have had surgery for a bowel obstruction. Is this band related, or just coincidence? It's never occurred to me until now, but I don't track my Fiber intake. With our high Protein diet, is getting in the recommended amount of fiber even possible? How much fiber do you guys get in a day? If you supplement, can you recommend a good one (and please don't say metamucil - blech!). Thanks!

So I am at least keeping it to no more than 9, but so far today I've had 6 and tonight Im going to bunco which is surrounded by FOOD!!!! I swear the bag calls me! All I've eaten today is a protien shake 220 calories, Stoffers lean chicken marsala 140 calories, 3 small bites of stuffing 2 of sweet potatoes and now SIX kisses!! So thats a clear total of 513 plus those small bites, I have no idea what to count them as. Do you think I'm doing horrible? I hate this I know I shouldn't obsess, but...... I'm …

Well, this is really a two-in-one NSV.... I buy alot of my clothes at the local thrift store. My DH and I went there looking for a pair of pants and he said--"hey you should go over and look at the blazers--they are free today". I made a face--like, how good can they be if they are free???, but I trotted over there anyway. Lo and behold, I found a bright red ST JOHN blazer--size 16 and it fits me like it was MADE for me! WOoooohooo! Then, I decided I needed something decent to wear with my new fance schmanctzy blazer, I walked into our higher end ladies's shop (where before, I couldn't fit into anything they sold) and the sales lady asked me what I was looking for…

I can't believe it. Out of frustration I went to the Surgery Center of Richardson again today, because they had stopped returning my calls as well (it turns out they were actively trying to find me a doctor, and the person who was helping me was just out of the office today). While I was there, Dr. Anderson's office returned my call and said they'd be happy to accept me as a patient. They wanted me to get another flouroscopy done to see if the band had moved at all before scheduling me for surgery. So, SCOR got me in as an add-on patient, and didn't even make me wait. Within 20 minutes of arriving and asking for the appointment, I was in the back room, laying on the…

OK before you all blast me, let me state my case. I have an older, other worldly sister that lives on her own astral plain (plane-you chose). I have been through hell and back with her. She put me and my children through some rough times one weekend where I didn't know what was happening for with her for 72 hours. She was bouncing off the walls and saying her legs were making her walk. She has been diagnosed as a Manic Depressive and refuses to take her meds. OK she is my sister and I love her. I let her live with me for about two years and believe me that was HELL. But she is my sister and I love her. Notice I keep repeating that. She is my sister and I l…

My DH took the kids to my mom's house last night for dinner, I was at a work function. They were all flipping through digital pictures from our vacaton together in April at Disney. ANd my husband finnally saw the differences. My mom said, he was like holy sh#t, I can't believe this was 7 months ago. And some beautiful things. DH is never one to comment on my weight, hell he watched me gain 100 pounds and never said a thing. A blessing and a curse rolled in one. SO this was big for him. I called my mom on the way home last night on the cell and she gave me the scoop. When I got home DH was waiting up for me, there a midnight still in my suit - I got a slew of compliments…

Helloooo Nashville! I just had to share pics from one of the coolest things I've ever been able to do. I sang for one of the largest Youth Specialities events (teachers and youth pastors) in the country last week in Nashville with my band, Poor Baker's Dozen! And here's the kicker...it's the first show I've done since losing 45 pounds!!! WAHOO! I can't even tell you what a thrill it was to share music with over 8,000 people at once! For those of you who know Christian music groups, we hung out for the weekend and sang on the same stage with Chris Tomlin, Third Day, David Crowder Band, Rebecca St. James, Jars of Clay, Toby Mac....and then little ol' US! what a blessing. I was banded November 4, 2005, and about 2 days ago I started having pain on the center right side of my body right below my chest, it also hurt to sneeze, cough, or inhale to my maximum lung capacity. At first, I thaught I had pulled a muscle so I wanted to wait 2 days before calling the doctor. Well today I called my surgeon and explained how I felt and they said it sounds like my gallbladder. Just the thaught of spending more money and possibly having another surgery bothers me. I am only 19 and I spent cash on the surgery(no insurance), I hope that my problems are nothing major and are something simple like a muscle pulled. Today I have an appointment at 3pm, I hope…

I was banded on Nov. 29 and seem to be doing great! No pain, but I can really tell that I am getting full with just a little Jello or broth. I was told to get chewy vitamins and I bought gummy vitamins because I thought they would be consistency of Jello. Now I am afraid they might be too thick. Anyone tried those?

Or around 800 calories? If you are at around 800 calories (or lower), what is your energy level? How do you feel? Since getting my 5th fill I am very restricted. I dunno if this is the sweet spot or not. The last few days, away from organic egg nog, pumpkin pie, I've been at just around 700 calories. I wasn't loosing anything, not at 1200 calories, not at 1000 calories. Well, at about 700 calories for a week, I've gone from 242 to 237 (5 pounds was water) so I really only lost one pound since getting this latest fill. My trouble is that yesterday and today I am just dragging butt. I slept for about 11 hours lastnight, and I sure could take a nap right now. So obviou…

Even though my belly burns and hurts, the radiologist didn't see any leaks. I'm really frustrated at the lack of time he spent with me. From now on I think we all need to bring a friend with us when we get tested. I could have used my hubby whipping out his buck knife and making Doctor give me the time of f-ing day. How much barium should I have swallowed? Does 2 medicine cups (miniature shots) sound right? That's all they gave me, just a few sips, turn left, turn right, "You're fine." I said, "WAIT!" I asked to show me the band (big inconvenience) so he briefly pointed it out while telling the tech to print the page. I asked, "Do I have restriction?" He sai…

I know they keep a log of when we call and what answer is given so I hope they don't think I'm a nuisance. But damn!! I really need to know! vIt's been 20 days since they got it and 13 since they've reviewed it. They ssaid 15 days to get a decision and 30 to get it in the mail...my goodness!!!

I know it is but my appetite has returned in full force and I get no feeling from the band at all whether I eat 1/2 cup of thick soup or 2 cups of thick soup (which i came close to at dinner tonight). Was anyone hypoglycemic before Lap Band? And if so, how did being banded affect it? When my blood sugar plummets I need to eat right then. And usually end up eating more than necessary. I've had success controlling it on Atkins in the past, so maybe eating the band way will be just as successful. Thanks
