I was Banded on Monday! Had wanted the surgery for many years, and waited whilst my husband got banded 2 years ago. We recently seperated and I knew I was ready to make this change for me. Dr Fisher did my surgery on Monday, he also found a huge hernia and repaired that for me too. The first 2 days were hard with the gas pain I was unable to get comfortable but yesterday and today have been a dramatic improvement.

Hello All! My name is Tereasa and I will begin my Lapband Journey on July 20, 2010. I'm nervous, anxious, and excited all rolled into one. I'm 41 yrs old and have a multitude of health issues ie. high cholestrol, high bood pressure, Diabetes, Diabetic Neuropathy, and probably a few more things yet to be determined. In all seriousness, I feel like I have always been a bit heavier than most of my peers in High School. After the birth of my children, I found it extremely difficult to lose the weight. While I was pregnant with my youngest, I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. That should have been my first clue! Now I'm scared for my life and have decided that i…

I was sleeved on Friday, stayed at the hospital one night, and came home yesterday. My stomach feels tender, and as if someone punched it if I try to take my liquids, cough or burp without using pain meds. But, the pain meds have enabled me to start sipping again. The gas is also a little painful, mainly a tight feeling in my abdomen until it passes. I'm on hydrocodone/apap, but I don't take it constantly, just when I feel miserable. I am hoping that this passes soon, but I am not surprised. After all, 85% of my stomach was cut out. Just one question - is my experience similar to y'alls?

Hi there! I'm still trying to figure out how to navigate around here. I had my info seminar and my orientation was July 16th. I am scheduled for my first dr's appt on August 23rd. I wanted to ask if anyone has experience with BCBS of NC. I am a federal employee-I think our program is a little different. We have to have a BMI of 40 or 35 with co-morbidities. The problem with the 40 BMI is that we have to prove that morbid obesity has been present the previous 2 years. 2009 is no problem..I've got that. But for 2008, I didn't show morbid obesity until December-it may have been present before that, but that's when I actually weighed in with a doctor. I'm worried th…

Today marks two months since surgery and I am 54 pounds down. I can't believe the weight loss but more then that I am starting to feel so much better. I am starting to have more energy and I am having to work harder to get my heart rate up while working out. Other then that, my body doesn't hurt as much as it use to. I still have a long way to go but boy... this feels awesome. I won't lie the first few weeks after surgery were hard but I got better day by day. For those of you new to the surgery and still in your post op Phase.... it gets better I promise. Keep your head up and keep going. Thanks to everyone for all there support. Pictures will follow later!

Hi, my name is Janice. I am new to this site, but not new to lap banding. I had my band put in place on February 9, 2008 in Atlanta, GA. I have never regretted it for a moment. I still struggle with "head hunger" but my band tells me "NO". And that's exactly what I needed. My highest weight was 250 and my weight right now is 180. I still have about 30 pounds to get off - my goal weight is 150. I have flucuated some these last few months, but am trying to stay on track. I know your communications will help me a lot. Looking forward to talking with all of you. Thanks.

My fiance (loyal boyfriend of 11 1/2 years, getting married next year)found this site for me and its been so helpful since I got home. I have been told my Dr. has people go on all liquid for 2-3 weeks. I feel like if I can do that, I should have been able to lose this weight before. I am really scared about that pre op diet!! Also, I am type II diabetes, what goes on with your sugars right after the surgery? Thanks for any info.

So I was looking at pictures of myself from a recent family get together and I nearly puked on myself. Ok so I have decided I need this lap band more than anything. Diets have driven me up a wall, from counting points to pre packaged food (gross). I've done it all and now its time for a tool to help me with this battle. My BMI is about 37 which puts me at a possible self pay but I'm gonna try the insurance route any way. It does cover WLS so I'm hoping it goes thru. Phhhheeeewwww glad I got that off my chest. I have had a lot of pain over the past 3 weeks. As I got further from my original surgery date, I realized the pain had to be from something new. I am now waiting to see a gastro Dr. I have been told that surgery is a given. So, because of this, I haven't wanted to drink anything. They have confirmed that it's not a gastric leak. The Radiologist stated that he could actually watch my stomach spasm through the machine. It doesnt hurt, just feels strange, almost like little kicks from a baby! I am not pregnant. I dont think its heart related, it's too low, but well above the port area..
