New:Awaiting the new chapter in my life

Hello everyone!

My name is Jennifer and I am anxiously awaiting for the new chapter in my life to begin! I attended my first Seminar last night (a class where they give you info). I have my appointments set up and ready to go!

I have a best friend from high school that had the LapBand done last year with her hubby, and have heard the wonderful stories from them. Listening to them got me interested in it for myself. When I first set up the Seminar date, I was extremely nervous. You hear so much negative news with the positive news. I was afraid of dying (as with any surgery) but after lots of heartfelt thinking, I decided that with my weight and genetic background I could die without the LapBand. So why be scared for trying something to save my life?

I am beyond excited for the appointments to get here! I am so ready to start this new journey!

Congratulations on your journey. I go to my educational class on August 3rd and I'm very anxious.

I too am just beginning this journey. I have had my doctor consultation, first dietician appt. and have my psych eval tomorrow. Next week I will get to sit in on a support group meeting. I am a self pay, my insurance (BC/BS of Kansas) does not pay for weight loss surgery. My BMI is 37, but I have type II diabetes. I really want to get rid of the diabetes, I hate needles even though I have to stick myself with them all the time. My fear right now is that I won't be able to make it thru the pre-op diet. The dietician told me that my Dr. usually has people on liquid only diet for 2-3 weeks before surgery!!! I just don't know how I am going to do that.
