I was banded on te 27th with pretty much no gas pain at all, but directly after surgery, I started to feel a stonge pain under my left side of my rib cage. I can't figure out if it is gas pain or not, because I don't feel it unless I take a deep breath or cough. It almost feels like it is brused. It seems like where my liver is, could it be that is was brused during surgery? Has anyone else felt this type of soreness in this spot after surgery?

Posted in general ? and food and nutrition.. Hi - Was banded in October - all has been okay. Today at costco I sampled Macadaian encrusted mahi mahi...and it was HOT. I w/out thinking swallowed the whole thing. I felt a bit stuck but nothing that time didn't help. About an hour later I ate a small Peanut Butter cup...slimed it up. An hour later a Protein shake - couldn't finish it. Two hours later, I was hungry and ate a Fiber One bar...it was feeling VERY uncomfortable about 20 minutes after eating it. I have been sliming now for a couple of hours...did I just irritate it? Someone please tell me what is going on. I am freaking out!!! TIA

Had my surgery on Apr 1! Hurray. And am recovering well. Except that I was concerned about two bumps that were appearing almost opposite of each other right at the bottom of my rib cage. I figured one was my port and the other a mystery...which was concerning me because it hurts when I press on it. Wish I would have asked my dr. or a nurse where my port was located right after surgery but I was dazed. Hindsight is 20-20  During my post op visit today, the dr. told me that the bump on the right (which I thought was my port) was simply a large bruise & scar tissue. It would disappear quickly...I was really surprised because it's the redder of my incisio…

I'm in the planning stages...I've been approved and got my release from my regular doc, now I'm just waiting for surgery on 4/24....I was thinking of buying a nice summery kind of dress so nothing rubs against the incisions but I'm concerned about the over the head motion...and since my dad is the one taking care of me after I REALLY don't want him helping me undress lol. I heard button-down shirts but I don't have any...and what kind of pants? I guess everything will be loose after the liquid diet but I doubt you can wear a belt... OMG i just don't KNOW!!!! lol HELP!!!

I am on day 3 after being banded and everything is going great except my back pain. That was my first complaint coming out of surgery and still my complaint today. The pain is right in the middle of my back, as if it needs to pop/be adjusted. Prior to being banded I had back pain from time to time and saw a chiropractor. Is anyone else having back pain? Could it be the same pain from before and just irritated from surgery? I won't be able to see my chiropractor for some time because of the way he twists my body for the adjustments. But my back pain is so bad I am in tears. Does anyone have some suggestions? I have tried my heating pad, styrofoam back support, my …

Hi everyone, I'm back again with another question. I had my 2nd fill almost a month ago and the last 2 days ,I've had very little restriction. I can even eat chicken and have it not feel like I'm having a heart attack. Has this happened to anyone else ? Is it normal for it to go away that quickly (restriction anyways),that didn't happen really after my first fill,I just stopped losing weight for a couple of weeks and then went to have my second fill. My doctor will not do another fill until 6 weeks past the last fill and the requirement would be that I hadn't lost any weight 2 weeks prior. Can anyone shed some light,I'm always worried it seems. Thank you!

I'm struggling with head hunger. It is usually late at night or at work where the goodies are in my direct line of vision. I can't move my work area and it is the only place they can put the goodies. Usually I don't have a problem but in times of stress it gets tough. Besides leaving the area for awhile, what do you do to mentally get though a tough time? Do you have a mantra? Do you have a mental picture of how you want to look after the weight is gone? I'm interested in learning how people deal with this and hopefully pull from your strength.

The biggest trick to NOT getting stuck is size of food..I have learned that pea size is just right for meats expecially..I have dealt with getting stuck so much and was to where I didn't want to eat..And the trick is to eat nothing bigger than a pea or a bean sized bite..Hope this helps..I guess we all gotta learn our own ways but thought this might be of some help..Also, remember what we/you/me swallow has to go through the hole the size of a straw..:glare:

:glare: I had my first fill yesterday and told me to go on the "straw diet" for two days. Well, while at work today they didn't have anything to eat that could go through a straw. So what I did was chew banana with a little Water in my mouth to make it more mushy. I have terrible pain in the middle of my stomach with painful back ache. My stomach is growling and the same time I feel full. Is there something that I can do at home to get rid of this pain? I saw somewhere to try drinking something warm, but I already tried that and it didn't work. Please help!!!!

I had my surgery on 3/12, so tomorrow I will be 4 weeks post op. This morning I had a little pain in my stomach and it hurt to walk. It felt like a pulled muscle. Tonight that pain has gotten worse. When I took my son to the grocery store with me, he threw a fit where I was required to pick him up (he weighs about 30 lbs.). Now it hurts when I walk and my stomach feels like a gigantic pulled muscle. Make sense? Did I just pull a muscle or did I do something wrong like eat too much? Thanks!

I guess im just impatient to reach my goal, i dont know. My surgery was this past Monday and it seems like the past few days I've felt pretty good all day long but in the evening I start to not feel so well. Did anyone else experience this? Also, could I be drinking too much in one sitting? I have been drinking an 8 oz glass of skim milk with protein powder and can almost finish it. I was wondering if that might be too much.

  37. I'm allowed to have yogurt in addition to the liquids. At my checkup today the doc said I could also have eggs and vegetables that have been cooked really, really well. I was just banded on Saturday. This morning I tried to eat some yogurt, but a bite of it got stuck. I guess it was too big of a bite. I'm a little swollen since I just had surgery. Now I know what I want to avoid in the future. It hurt! I slimed and I had to vomit up the little bit of yogurt before I got any relief. Ugh. I am definitely not looking forward to any more episodes like that.

I'm feeling a little frustrated today. Now that I finally got to 195 (35 down), I'm having a tough time getting below that number. AND I committed to getting at least 6 more off by May 5th, which seems like a still-attainable goal. . IF the loss would stop stalling. Yesterday, I had a Slim Fast for Breakfast, Soup for lunch, and about 2/3 of a Smart Ones dinner for dinner -- and I worked out with a personal trainer for an hour (tough workout too). But this morning, the scale hadn't moved at all. . in fact, it was at 195.6. So frustrating! Just wanted to vent -- I figured you guys would understand. Catherine

Just 10 days post-op and I'm messing up by overeating. I have to stop this. I was put on mushy foods on the third day after surgery, and I was allowed to introduce more solid foods into my diet during the first week. From what I've read on here, that's not very common, but that's what my book I got from the doctor told me to do. I followed the pre-op diet to the letter. I had no trouble at all following those strict guidelines for two weeks--even when it was all liquids the entire week before surgery. The problem came about 3 days ago. The swelling is apparently gone, and I have absolutely no restriction. On top of that, it's time for my period and I'm starving! …

She said that I should expect people who have always been nice to me, to treat me differently because they will become jealous of my success and perhaps I'll become thinner than they are. Of course this won't be the case for everyone but some probably. I was wondering if anyone who has lost a lot of weight has experienced something like this?? Thanks!
