Aww I wish I could go too, but my son's pre-k is doing a fund raiser @ Chuck E Cheeses & although I hate the place, my son schooling is free and they need all the support that they can get.

Hi Everyone

Just saying a quick hi - yes I am still alive. Still not back on track 100% but doing a little better. During the day I am perfect, but at night we have so much junk around the house from easter and my son's birthday that it has been hard.

I went to yoga Sat and last night. Tonight I have opted to walk after work instead of going the Richmond Support Group meeting (Lee by the time I get to one of those meetings, I won't recognize you ).

Lee - awesone on the size 18s and the weight loss - you are doing so well! I just got a new outfit for my birthday coming up and I fit in size large tops and size 14 pants - they are a good brand so I know they run bigger than the cheap store brands but it still feels good.

John - congrats on 35 lbs - that is so cool. No, i don't think you should go to Iraq or Afgan., but hope things work out on the job front. It can be so stressful worrying about that.

Mo - you sound like you are doing so well with exercise. I envy you - need some of your motivation.

Tam - glad you are back on track. I have 22 days before I see Dr. Park - so I really need to get serious on my exercise.

Laurel - so sorry about your husband - hope things are OK. Glad you are doing well - your weight loss is terrific.

Pam - glad you are back safe and sound.

Jes - good to hear from you. Where is Candra? Is she OK?

Rachelle - welcome. Tell us some jokes - those of us struggling need some laughs.

Ali - you are almost there! Just keep your focus like you have been.

Ash, Donna, Reggie, Riley, CoCo, and everyone one else - hope you are doing OK.

OK - I have to get back to work.

Glad to see everyone back on the board!

Laurel, I am so sorry about your husband and I will think good thoughts for him. Are you back at work already? Seems like you just had surgery! Be careful and don't lift any heavy cameras!

John, so sorry for your job. That is a stresser for sure but your head is in a good place and you wont eat stress like I would!

Tomorrow I have a nutrution and preop apt in Vacaville. What are these meetings about? Is it group or one on one?

Ali – Lucky you getting to do those in Vacaville. As the lucky winner of having to attend those meetings twice in seven months I would say they are very useful the first time around but a complete waste of time the second time. I’ve not heard of them doing these in Vacaville but if they are like the ones in Richmond the first hour or so will be Liz talking about surgery and the days after. Robin gives the nutrition class and talks about post-op meal plans and Vitamins. In Richmond its in a group setting (12-20 people). Have fun! Tell Liz I said hi and I would like to attend another pre-op class but I’m a little busy working my Sleeve.

Lol John. Tell us how you really feel! Lol.

Welcome Rachelle! How much did Doc Fisher require you lose before surgery? He gives every totally different amounts, I'm curious. I wouldn't start drinking shakes, Richmond is so against them. Of course, I do have an occasional shake. I like to have them on hand for emergencies, like those days I'm running super-late for work and have nothing in the fridge, or if I wake up late on a weekend, and have lunch plans. A shake will satisfy me for 1-2 hours, so keep that in mind. But don't start bad habits if you can avoid them!

Rachelle- Do you belong to a gym in EG?

my green smoothies is my annual spring "cleanse" I drink them for about a week. Total detox from cooked, processed, crappy food and really cleans the insides  I do other things like meditate, clean my space etc etc. Has nothing to do with diet or the band. I'll probably loose a couple lbs but that's not the point. I do think this will be a good boost to my eating what I'm supposed to. Last spring is when I lost my pre op weight.

John you are to funny! I will make sure to give her a big and a kiss for you!

Funny how my bp goes up everytime I in Richmond; they referred me to my pcp for follow up and went in today and my bp was fine....it must be the drive all the way to Richmond that stresses me out! lol

Yes I go to Contours in Elk Grove like a Curves for Women but with real weights to increase your strength as you lose and help you lose inches.... I was originally 230 when I started all this a year ago then I lost my insurance so I gained in the last year up to 258.... so I have to get back to 230.... Almost there!!!! Do you go to a gym in EG? How far along in all of this are you???

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
