How are the banded Notorious Novembers???

Recommended Posts

HEY LADIES!!!! I'm still here. Personally things have been rough, but somehow I make we make it through...one day at a time. My band has probably been my saving grace (weight wise) I am quite sure with out, emotionally eating would have taken control and I would be in a heap of a mess. but as it stands I am doing ok. Still looking for the sweet spot since my revision surgery, the good thing is that since the revision and with all the family drama my weight has only varied 2-4pounds depending on the day and the TOM. I am still working out and trying to do the best I can. I am trying to get these lat 30lbs off by the end of July (i like to set my goal realistic and attainable) so wish me luck. I am going to take it 10 pounds at a time and get this done!!!!! Big Kisses to everyone for all the love and support. It is much appreciated. BTW I posted some pics on my profile. the befores are scarry but the afters...well I like them. TTFN!

HOLLLLEEEEEE Crap DD, you look wonderful! You should be proud of yourself! You look like you're about 20 years old. Very nice!

Sabrina~ I'm starting to run too. I stil can't run a mile but I'm walking fast. 4 miles per hour or around there. I signed up for a 5k run with my husband in May. I used to die after walking 1/2 a mile. Now I don't go to bed until I have walked/jogged or ran 5 miles a day. the weight is finally dropping again. 23 more pounds till I hit my doctors goal for me. 40 plus pounds for my personal goal.

DD~ I must have missed your post on the revision. What did you have redone?

Hey Jewels...I had to have a second surgery in September, I was having alot of acid reflux and food was getting stuck often and come to find out my I had ANOTHER hernia AND my band had slipped. So I had my hernia repaired and my and corrected. A major set back, because since my surgeon repaired ahernis that was right beneath the band she literally took months before she would give me a fill. I had an appointment today and she barley added 1cc, so I am hoping that this gets me to where I need to be so that I can get back on track with losing the remainder of my weight.

Hi everyone! I'm still slacking off and not getting this last ten pounds off....I have been eating any and everything, but haven't gained an ounce-so that's nice. Also haven't been at the gym for over a month...this winter has just been too long and all I want to do now is sleep and eat. The sun broke through today and made me want to go running, but I didn't. Tomorrows another day, I feel myself getting motivated to start the outdoor activites: jogging, swimming, kayaking, tennis. I love my body, I feel so good in it now, love even more those size medium shirts and the size 12 Victoria Secret jeans that I had to return because the were too BIG!!! Down to a size 10 now and it feels like its where I want to be.

I am stuck as well, but motivated now to lose 10 more pounds before summer as it will soon be hot here and that means thinner clothes!! I cannot believe I wear a size 6 0r 8 jeans and a med shirt and still feel fat! I never wore less than a size 12 in my life. I know I mostly could use a full body lift which I probably will never get, but I also still need to lose another 10 pounds. I am convinced the sizing these days is all vanity!

I'm not complaining though. I am very proud and happy about the way I look now and I feel 100% better!

Elyse, congrats on feeling so good in your body. I want to feel like that someday. I have about 20 more pounds to lose, but I still have this muffin top and wings where my arms used to be ;0 Must be angel wings! Struggling a bit, but now that the weather is changing, so is my mood. Hope spring is finally here!

Hello everyone. Got a complete unfill today. May have a slipped band and I do have a partially flipped port. Have to wait 30 days to see if problems resolve. If not, dr. will do upper GI to check for slippage. Had 6 ccs in a realize band. I'm afraid of gaining weight, but have been PBing and sliming all day, every day. Have maladaptive eating disorder since I can't eat any normal food. I gained 4 pounds in 3 weeks. If I need surgery, I won't replace my band. The past three weeks have been hell. Besides the dr. had to stick me three times and then poke around a lot to get into the port for the unfill. Anyone else have these problems?:)

So sorry to hear you are having these problems. I wonder why they don't just do the endo exam in the first place to look at everything.

I did not have mine at my one yr mark like I was supposed to. I am waiting to get ahead with some bills......don't know if that will ever happen.

Keep us updated. I hope it works out ok for you.

Ok we've got minimal time before bathing suit season. Time for everyone to check in and be accountable. I haven't had the scale budge in weeks, and haven't been going to the gym, nor have I been eating very well. I'm sick and tired of being cold all the time (anyone else find that now that you've lost all this weight, you are always freezing to death!?). I have about 10 pounds I'd like to see go away, and I am recommitting myself to just getting it done. It so easy to become complacent about it now that I feel (and look) so much better, but I do want to complete this last ten pounds. Upside--I just bought my first bikini in about 15 years!

Hey everyone, I just wanted to stop and check in and say hello. I havent been doing great lately. I mean after my nephews murder everyhting got put on the back burner, especially working out. I had gone up to about 194 (a 5pound weight gain) in the month following his death and I just wasnt really putting in alot of effort. Thank goodness I am back on track and the scale is headed in a downward spiral again. I'm at 187 as of this morning and I am just so ready to hit the 100lbs lost mark and then get the final 30lbs off. Novemebr is coming up again really soon and I really would like to reach my goal before then. That will be the 2 year mark for us and I am just ready to be done with weight loss and move on to the maintance phase of this whole thing. I hope that everyone is doing well, much love to everyone!

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
