No pain really I just get this gas pain or feels like heartburn but it’s getting better everyday. I’ve been taking Gax X it helps so much. As of today I’ve lost 14lbs so far. 1 week check up tomorrow super excited for my diet to advance :) How are you feeling?

Hi! New to the site (glad I found it). I just had surgery yesterday 4/24/18. Other than being sore, I'm not doing bad but can't handle the pain meds, so tylenol it is. But I'm having I guess spasms. they come and go at all hours. I thought it may be gas still in my stomach but my doctor said it wasn't. Has anyone else had this happen?

i received surgery on Monday, April 23rd. two days post op and i'm just now trying my Premier Protein shake for dinner to see how well my stomach takes to it. i was advised to have a chewable Multivitamin 2 times daily and a B12, and to start the Calcium + D, 6 weeks post op. i feel like i am doing okay, i'm just concerned on not getting enough fluids although i am trying very hard. i did have a hernia repair while they were doing my surgery so i'm not sure if that has anything to do with some of the pains i am having. every sip of Water is not comfortable to take down. also not sure if it's normal for my stomach to be growling at me, but not actually feeling like i'm starving. this morning i took my meds and Vitamins and threw them up right after, which hasn't happened yet.

I am almost a week out of surgery and I’m still having trouble with Protein and my hydrating liquids. I ended up going to the emergency room yesterday because I felt like I wasn’t getting enough fluids and Proteins, and if I drink more than about a tablespoon or two I get really bad heartburn and gas. The gurgling in the stomach Is also annoying. After a bunch of tests, everything seems to be OK, and I received some IV fluids before coming home last night. My surgeon told me not to worry as much about meeting the full amount and just to do what I’m able to do. Everybody handles the surgery differently. I had a sleeve gastrectomy

Hi! I had my surgery April 9th. I now mix GENEPRO’s unflavored Protein Powder in with my applesauce. Let me know how to keep in touch! I’m so confused by all the Vitamin stuff too still!

Mostly just an introduction: Had my sleeve done yesterday (4/25) and just got home from the clinic this morning.

I basically came home and feel asleep for four hours as I had interrupted sleep all night (My o2 levels were fine when I was awake but went boarderline when fell asleep).

Now trying to get all the fluids down and go on regular walks. Looking at what I left for the day and my old brain says totally easy. So working thru that.

Preop diet I lost almost 20 lbs. which kinda floored me.

Welcome and please stay and hang around RHCD. A lot of very nice people on the April Sleeve forum. We'll Celebrate your victories, sympathize with your trials and sustain you all along the Weight loss journey. To be technical I'm a missionary from the RnY side of life but this is how I look at things. You sleevers may be Army, my bypassers may be Navy but we are all allies in the Weight Loss Wars and we all sustain each other. And to use a trite phrase "Some of My Best Friends are Sleevers"!😝

First couple of days for me were very similar lots of rumbling and stomach cramps/spasms usually when I was empty. Focus on getting your fluids in nice and slow but consistently. I didn't do any Protein for an entire week just broths and strained chicken Soup and lots of Water and sugarfree ice pops (Small sips constantly don't forget).

Good luck hope you are doing better by now.

I had surgery on 4/24. Still get gas pains although I get up and walk every hour. Made a schedule to ensure I’m getting Protein, fluids, take multivitamin, etc. not taking any pain meds because pain is tolerable .

How are all you Early April sleepers doing??? I am feeling great my body feels much better than before (less knee and backpain) and my clothing is getting nice and baggy which makes me feel good lol. I hope everyone is loosing the weight, I started solids a little earlier than I expected and have no issues usually my meals are 3-4oz which sounds like a Little but dammit I get full lol ive learned to take breaks/pauses when eating as to not overdue it, Best part of the sleeve is your meals last all day!!! I eat and within 2 hours I am ready to eat again so its a win win still taste great, You get full and get to eat more often lol The hardest thing for me to overcome is not drinking Water with my meals bad habit and hard to break when your fixated on drinking something...

Anyways hope everyone checks in...

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
