@@Kya Wolf- yay you for reaching wonderland. Can't wait!

@@chellede you are cracking me up! You are clearly in a good mood today. Love that you not only had the confidence to wear a bikini( which is cute by the way) but I also love that you have the courage to share it with everyone

Hope you are enjoying your night out w/the girls

Went for one week f/u today, lost 7.2 lbs I am happy w/ that. Every pound lost is a reason to Celebrate. Looking forward to starting mushies tomorrow. It was funny, my nutritionist explained that the mushies is very boring stage. I thought, is she crazy? This is exciting! I am so looking forward to being able to chew. I may agree w/Her in a couple of weeks but tonight , super excited!

Trying my best to keep up with you active chatters :P

Congrats to all on doing so well. I am not seeing my MD until next Weds and have to keep going with clear liqs and milk/protein shakes until then. I have been dying to taste some creamed Soup for crying out loud..but the fear of problems is keeping me honest..funny how that can motivate.

@chellede what is 'double milk' I would love to get 60g of Protein in one hot chocolate. BTW you are gorgeous in the bikini...I love your attitude!

I had a day of retail therapy at the mall with my friend, and fantasized about all of the great outfits I will soon be able to fit into. It did me a world of good to get out and do that today.

It was also my youngest's 6th birthday, and I have successfully stayed away from frosting and ice cream...perhaps my sugar whore days are over, because I didn't even want them!

I was glad to read that the pain kind of comes and goes, because I had been pain free for two days, then it returned today, so all normal.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend, Leslie

Hiya everyone! Hope everyone's Saturday is off to a brilliant start :) I shed another 1.2lbs yesterday which is making me super happy since I felt like yesterday wasn't a fantastic day for me. My incision right under my left boob continues to bother me so I'm still on the extra strength tylenol. I had pretty runny bowel movements and actually what felt like an upset stomach. I tried something new to eat yesterday. I ground up turnip root into a paste like consistency and had that (it's a traditional Chinese style food) and I loved it, but I don't think my stomach agreed. Oh well!

@@rmspencer great job in weight loss, I lost the same amount as you today!

I started on mushies this morning, trying to eat one egg, only ate 5 bites. Went down ok but did give me a little belly discomfort but feels so good to chew!

My surgery was Thursday and I'm starting on liquids today. My stomach constantly talks to me which is annoying. Sometimes it feels like I'm starving but I'm hoping that's just acid curbing around. Any idea when my tummy will start feeling normal and stop talking to me? ????

@@trvlgrl My surgery was 10/13 and my stomach still gurgles pretty constantly. You might think you feel hunger, but if you think about it, you're not really having the "I'm starving" feeling. It's hard to explain, but I know exactly what you're thinking. My stomach grumbles like it's hungry, but when I stop and think about it, I'm not really.

True... I understand what you're saying. So much grumbling. It's funny when I'm around others because they're probably wanting to feed me to shut it up!

Morning all! I was a little sore yesterday but OMG is my left side sore today! Sitting in the car and felt like I had to try to move my stomach around to let it settle into a more comfortable position. What the heck is up with this?!

I'm grumbling alot of the time, too. It doesn't bother me too much. Looking forward to pureed foods starting Monday. Those of you who are already in that stage, what are some of your favorites?

@@Kimberly_R I just started this stage today. I had half of an egg w/fat free cheese. Quite a few people mentioned that the pinto Beans w/cheese from Taco Bell w/mild sauce is pretty tasty & ricotta bake from eggface got great reviews too. Actually. You can google "puréed foods, eggface "for other suggestions

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
