Well today has been a day for me and I need support. It started off with my husband being told today he had to deploy this afternoon and I had I break that news to my kids. Then 2 hours before we were to leave for the airport I have a miscarriage. They crazy thing is I didn't know I was pregnant. It's probably tmi but I am positive because I've had two miscarriages in the past. It just brought all these emotions out of me. Now I'm just alone for the next six months and feeling really low tonight. I really thought I was being careful with intercourse. It took me shots and hormones to have my kids I really didn't realize how fertile you are after surgery.

My condolences for going through such a rough time. We are here to support you and to have a virtual shoulder to cry on.

(((Hug))) jayla. My daughter's husband goes on deployments. It's tough. But look at it this way- hard to get pregnant for 6 months' date=' and you will be so skinny when he returns. ... you might need extra protection if you want to avoid it. ;)

My daughter has 5 little ones all from returns from deployment, lol![/quote']

I was in the Navy and Ex was in the Navy and yes A LOT of babies are conceived after deployments. Solid fact!!! So I agree, being a military wife for 20 years wasn't easy. Its a tough job!!! we dint get paid fir it either. But think of all you will be able to accomplish before he gets back. Deployments always suck. My husband's longest was a year and if I didn't have my work, I would have went insane. I also had a 6yr old little girl to take care of at the time. Put your focus into the kids. Do lots of fun stuff together since summer break is here. Go visit family. Just get out and go. The more you do the time will seem to pass quicker. My heart goes out to you cuz I've been there. You'll have good days and bad days, just love on your kids.

Sorry to hear about the sudden deployment and miscarriage. I'm not on here all that much but if you ever need a texting or talking buddy, message me and I'll gladly give you my number. Life alone requires all the support we can get, add into it crazy hormones from surgery, a miscarriage and hb that's inaccessible...well that's just sucks. :[ hugs

I hope you're counting inches. If your clothing sizes are going down, you're making progress. Have you checked the scale batteries? I freaked out for a whole week and found out the batteries were bad... Doesn't help I'm addicted to the darn thing!

Finally hit 70 pounds down this morning! I am about 6 pounds behind "schedule" but I am okay with that. I had a stall for like 3 weeks that made me nuts, but the scale seems to be moving along again. It is hard to believe that I have just under 20 pounds to lose to make it back to Onederland!

Have you had your metabolism tested? Also what about your thyroid?

What have the tests said? Have you had a thyroid test? I understand the frustration, I have a hypo thyroid and lose very slowly. I also get depressed even though I've had some decent progress. Weird that I'm not as heavy but still not happy.

But don't give up, you went through so much. Maybe you can try going back to basics and having smaller portions, eating off little plates, buying less processed food and more fruits, veggies, meat/protein and milk products. Drinking a ton of Water helps me, especially because i crave sweets (hoped surgery would help with that but it didn't) and I walk at least 2x a day (even though all I can manage sometimes is a short walk because of my knee). Again, I lose slow and am not perfect but we all tried so hard to get this surgery, (I was denied once before being approved) so failure isn't an option and I hope you don't accept defeat but keep your chin up and keep fighting.

Keep posting, we're here for support.

Hope everyone had a great day today, got to spend it with my hubby and his family at my bro and sis-in-laws house, mostly poolside. Was nice to be in swim shorts and a long halter swim top and not feel horribly self conscious. Even though I tracked in MFP (for the most part) I allowed myself to go outside my new box this weekend. Gave my body a bit of a break, will go back at it hard tomorrow. Planning to try to cut out meat for a while, eat more Beans and try cooking with tofu. Should be interesting!!

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
