Guess who is wearing XL scrubs to work today??? : ) From 2-3X I'm pretty happy!!!

That's an amazing feeling isn't it! I was about to fit into a 20 before surgery, wore a large dress yesterday and can wear either large or XL shirt depending on the arms. My 16 jeans are getting too loose too...some day I'd love to be in a single digit pant size!!!

For those of you with mid-Jan surgery dates' date=' what are your portion sizes like these days? My surgeon is telling me that I am not progressing the way I should be and thinks I am actually starving myself. I can't help but wonder what the rest of you are doing portion-wise![/quote']

It depends on what I'm eating. I can eat very little meat, no bread. Portions are about a cup maybe. For example, I have a hard time finishing a 1/4c of oatmeal made with 1/4c Water, 1/4c lite soy milk, 1/4 cubed apple and sprinkle of cinnamon. I am so happy I get full fast, but sometimes it feels like I can eat too much when I allow myself a sweet such as a rice crispy treat. I wish I lost my love of sweets, especially chocolate, lol. Instead, I lost my taste for coffee. :(

I had my surgery January 16th, and to date, I've lost 62 lbs. I honestly thought I would have lost more by now. It has settled down to a pound or two every week. I really shouldn't complain because when it was coming off fast, I was really seeing wrinkles in my hands and arms. Now that it's coming off slower, my body is adapting much nicer. I would like to add that due to both knees being bone on bone, I am not doing much walking. I did get dvd's of chair exercises. One is for yoga, one is Pilates, and one is strength and stretching. I'm not ready for more surgery yet, but I am hoping to build up my muscles AND lose all of the weight I want to lose.

Don't be frustrated. We all lose some more than others. Are you exercising? Getting enough Protein?

Don't get too discouraged' date=' losing is losing. :) I know its easier said than done, especially when we see such high numbers of losses from others, but remember were all unique and will make our way to goal at the pace our bodies allow. Some may even have lower numbers than us. :( believe me I do understand, right there with you-had mine on the 10th and down just over 40. I did hit the 100's but I still have a long way to go at my turtle pace. I exercise at least 4-5 days a week, some days harder than others. I don't eat much, and nothing at all like some of the crazy days of my past, but some days are certainly more well planned and behaved than others. I know I wasn't getting in enough Water or Protein, so this last week I focused on both those things. I'm hoping it will help increase both my energy level and weight loss, and slow my Hair loss. On the positive side, I can see and feel my body changing; my face is slimming out, my big booty's not so big anymore, I actually have a waist now, and my arms/thighs are a bit smaller.

It's funny, my hb always liked the feel of my hips (esp when we're snuggled up about to sleep), now he says the padding's going away-it's boney. Lol, makes me laugh thinking there's a "boney" part of my body, but I'll take it! ;']

Just a quick note to all Jan post ops.....As I sit & recall exactally where I was 3 months ago today - lying on that gurney about to undergo my life changing event - then think where I was before my 2 week pre op...oh frightening!! I am sooo grateful to have had this done! So I'm not a cook, u don't lose as fast as a 25 yr old but I'm me & I wouldn't trade it for the world. I hope you all can look back & have this insite as well. The more u have to lose the greater loss u will have weekly as it requires more calories to maintain those higher weights. If ur slowing about now, it's cause ur body doesn't require those mass amounts of calories anymore so it's suppose to be a slower loss, congratulate yourself that you have come to this point!!! I'm celebrating my 3 month today at beauty shop : ) pics to follow I promise! Have a great one all....PS Not feelin like a cow so much anymore : )

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
