I'm all for a discussion on politics, not so sure about religion. However and despite my preferences, I would have thought neither of these are appropriate for this type of website.

However, nor is, as I have seen and seems fairly prevalent; is individuals dominating forums and engendering a 'them and us' mentality. That is tantamount to bullying - no matter how much alleged 'humour' is deployed as subterfuge or smiley faces to soften the sarcasm. Although it's a subtle and insidious form of bullying, it is still bullying nonetheless.

Just a point for consideration, Ed?

Alex clarified what the dots mean earlier in the thread. It's good to read the thread all the way through before you post a question.

I actually thought I read through the entire post. My apologies for the obvious inconvenience of my question. I must have missed Alex's post clarifying what they are. My bad. Sometimes people miss posts especially when reading from their iPhone app.

I have seen a lot of name calling without repercussions.

The problem is that you don't know if someone had repercussions or not. I teach, and I know that sometimes my students get upset with me that I don't say or do something about a particular student, but really the class has no idea what I do. For most situations, I don't discipline a student in public. Just because it isn't done in public doesn't mean it isn't done.

Let me clarify on my definition of repercussions. What I mean is that his or her posts have not been removed and I know this because I still see them there.

Question....what constitutes ranting about other members? I know calling someone by name....but what about when a poster is vague but just singles out a group of people?

I've seen many a thread get shut down because it singles out newer members and insults them, but there are threads all the time that will to a certain degree insult the vets because why? They know what they're talking about?

http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/90614-does-it-really-matter/#entry946864

As an example. Not trying to make a big deal of this thread here but it does that very thing. As a vet I read that thread and feel like whatever knowledge I might have to share with newer members is looked down upon. These threads happen regularly and they don't seem to get shut down. The original post in this very thread has the same tone.

It sounds a bit like a double standard. We shouldn't criticize someone because they're new and don't know as much as we'd like them to....but we can criticize those who do know....because they know and are trying to share that information.

So where is the line drawn?

Oh....and to add.....look at all those dots. I must be a judgmental ass.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
