I Can't Wait To Not Have To...

Recommended Posts

I can't wait to feel like I should shower twice a day just becuse I always feel yucky and can't help but remember that when I was smaller it wasn't like that. :-(

I can't wait to not have a rash under my boobs (or find food in my bra when I take it off)

I can't wait to stop accidentally bleaching the belly line of my shirts when I clean the kitchen counters

Ahh, not holding my breath to put on a shoe.

To not have little kids tell me I must be a good cook because I'm fat (actually happened)

TMI but to not fear crushing my hubby during 'adult activities'

And this is a big one for me: to NOT make fun of myself before someone else can.

Sit cross legged on furniture, especially mattresses, without leaving indents!!! Or have other people hold their breath watching me mount their precious furniture!!!

To be able to feel like I've finally dried off everywhere after a shower - I swear I can dry like six times and I still feel like I've missed places

Not worrying that new people are meeting my fat before me

To feel more confident in getting out around people my age

Being able to button my lab coat at work

Not dreading having to squeeze out in front of people who are sitting between me and the end of the row at auditoriums/movie theaters/school classes

YES! And do you face them or show your posterior? Either way, you will end up stepping on toes and inadvertently crush yourself up against the row in front of yours trying not to become intimately involved with the poor strangers who sat between you and the exit. Oh yes! Goodbye to that dreaded squeeze!

I want to wear khakis with my shirt tucked in. I find these to be the least forgiving pants on earth, I have tried on million pair and always look terrible!

I can't wait to wear a skirt and not get rash on my upper thigh from the friction. Ouch!

Mostly, I can't wait to not be constantly thinking about food. What am I eating next? Where can we eat out this weekend? Friends coming from out of town? Where will we be eating. God, I am sick of being ruled by food!

C'mon 8/31!!!

To finally not hear my brother constantly giving me tips on how to lose weight. We hardly see each other but when we do, my weight is ALWAYS the topic. If I complain to others about my weight always being the topic, they make excuses for him and say he just cares about me. I'm sure my life is more than just my weight?

LOL... this is a great thread :P

I'm looking forward to the day when I can stop worrying about starting a fire because of all the friction created by my thighs rubbing together when I walk.

Not having to shift around in each direction put my socks on and tie my shoes.

Not having to chase down sales people who ignore me after they've clearly noticed me (invisible me!)

Not getting "those" looks of disgust and pity (ewwww, but bless her heart, poor thing).

Not having to strategize on where to go/where to sit/how to fit.

Being able to finally tell my significant other that if he doesn't want me, then someone else will (and know it)

Not being paralized with fear that the airline will make me buy a second seat

And last but certainly not least, not having to end another friendship because I overheard them tell my significant other that he could do SO much better than me! (but at least I never have to hear her say "I'd commit suicide if I ever got fat" again....)

I have enjoyed reading this thread, but probably for a different reason than all of you. I just want to give a shout out of encouragement to you all. Six months ago I too was on here posting all the things that I wanted to do (or not do) when I got thin. Tonight I was able to read through all of your posts and check off all of my accomplishments. IT IS AWESOME!! I am enjoying things now that I never would have even dreamed of this time last year. I go for my 6 month post op tomorrow and I am down 111# total. If I can do it, you can too. Sooo, ROCK THOSE SLEEVES PEOPLE!! WOOHOO!!

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣
