I Swear To God I Could Choke My Husband Right Now!

Recommended Posts

I should NEVER have let him take care of me! I let him mix my freaking protien shakes and make sure that I get all the stuff I need cause I am really bad at getting myself to the right levels well I MIGHT AS WELL HAVE BECAUSE THE STUPID **** GAVE ME 12G TOO MUCH protien and thats why I haven't been losing weight. I am crying right now because I thought I was going to stay fat forever. I have been so depressed and its all his fault. I am so glad he is at work right now because I am so freaking mad I would say and do things I would regret later. I love him so much but you have no idea what has been going through my head. all because he is to freaking stupid to add correctly! what are we in kindergarden here! I went through it fifteen times with him. OMG I'm bawling right now.

I am sorry you are so upset! My husband can be a bumbler at times, but I have to watch it because I am a perfectionist and oftentimes just prefer to do things myself so they are done to my standards, at least where domestic matters are concerned. I have to be careful not to hurt him (usually this happens during PMS week when the sharp tongue can rear its ugly head).

With that said - can we ever have too much Protein? I would kill to get another 12 g in and would not matter if I had already consumed 100+ :) Now if someone slipped me another 12 g of carbs I would be pissy, or 250 calories this early out.

Are you journaling your nutrition? getting at least 64 oz of liquids? moving daily? moving those bowels in a reasonable number of days? I know that if I look at the trend of my WL over weeks and months - I see that I am losing slowly and steadily, and I will take it! Don't fret - the weight WILL come off, this process of the losing phase can last years for some, for others it is a handful of months - from your ticker, I would say that I think you are a stunning success.

I would not worry about 12 g of Protein. I get about 120 grams of Protein a day but try to keep the carbs low. It is no big deal. The 60-70 grams of protein is a minimum. When my carbs go up my weight loss slows down.

I can promise you that it's not the Protein that is stalling you. You are freshly sleeved, as I just checked your profile. I did Atkins, many times through the years... I at a lot I mean A LOT of protein. This is not the problem. Also, looking at your tracker, you are doing fantastic. You might have hit a small stall. Don't fret. You are so early out that your body is freaking out about the lack of calories. Are you getting your fluids in? I noticed when I am in a stall, this usually kicks it out. Don't be mad at your husband. He was trying to help... Hell, mine tests me by offering me bad stuff...LOL. (Playfully. Not for reals.) So calm down. I promise the scale will move in the right direction. I was stuck at 231 or almost 4 weeks. I am at 208 now. It will move.Congrats on the weight loss thus far. You will do great.

I have not called him or told him anything at all because I needed to calm down and I can have quite the sharp tongue as well. He is after all human and crap happens. I am so much more calm now than I was when I posted LOL I was freaking the heck out! Venting! I don't really think he is stupid at all and he is the love of my life. I am so happy he wasn't home when I looked LOL I will adjust it and see where I am and if it makes a difference. The one day I didn't get that extra in and I lost two pounds so I dunno... Thanks for the support, I can't believe how great I did pre op with the weight loss, at this point I was losing weight better before the surgery so I am very upset. Yes I am getting plenty of fluids in and I am moving my bowels so we will see.

Always looking at the lighter side....

12 grams of Protein powder is 36-60 calories. Most likely around 38 calories for an unflavored powder. In order to burn 38 calories you would have to play cards for about 24 minutes (no the most strenuous activity) or write for 18 minutes... Bottom line is that although all calories matter. 40 calories of extremely nutritious calories are not going to be the problem. Besides you are so upset, I bet you have burned off more calories that he accidentely slipped you. Hence, you are probably even or maybe ahead. Stay really mad for about 1 more hour just to be sure.

THEN thank your lucky stars you have a husband that is willing to be a part of your journey. Who has loved you when you were big and is hand and hand (allbeit an incompetent one) with you on your difficulty road to a new slimmer you.

So call him a chucklehead - hit him with a pillow (above the waist please) and then hug him.

That's just my advice, I could be wrong.

Thank God he cares enough to help you. It could be the stress your body is in that made you blow, after all the spouse is the closest person in our lives and we tend as women to take a lot of our emotions out on them, I know I do. Mine doesn't even ask me anything about the upcoming surgery at all. I think he thinks if he doesn't mention it it will go away and I won't have it.

Why don't you just fix your own food and/or keep track of the Proteins, calories, carbs, etc. yourself? He is wonderful to support you, but if it causes you to be critical of him maybe you should take over now.

Sorry, got to agree with Notime. Instead of having a meltdown, it's time to pull on the big girl panties, and do it yourself. Ultimately, it's up to us to get what we need!

Don't worry about the stall, you'll work yourself through it. Good Luck!

big girl panties? I freaking came on here to vent about it so I didn't freak out on him and I get nasty?

Sorry, didn't mean to be nasty, just an expression of speech. I'm really happy you had a chance to get out your frustrations, before you choked your Husband.

This is old but I get it, OP. When it comes to food and drink, people want it the way they want it. I've found that if you want something done with specificity, you usually have to do it yourself. As for the stall, who knows? Protein is 4 calories per gram so the extra 48 calories probably isn't hurting you unless you have something else going on we don't know about or unless the 12g comes with additional grams of carbs and/or fat. Either way, I'd just start doing my own.

I'm glad you had the chance to think it over before you talked to him =) And I'm glad that you got a chance to vent - I am like that sometimes, just need to blow off some steam!

It sounds like you're possibly in a stall. Have you been measuring? Are you losing inches? Maybe that's where the weight loss had disappeared to for a little bit. Are you eating quite a few carbs? Maybe cutting back just a little more on them would help if you are?

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
